Wednesday, August 19th (Day 1)

Today we began germinating the seeds of our second grow, Strawberry Cough. Received the seeds from www.marijuana-seeds.nl in six business days from ordering. Arrived in very discrete packaging with the 5 free seeds that they come with, clearly labeled. The correct way we found to initiate the germinating process was to put all 10 seeds between two heavily moist paper towels. The paper towels were then laid on a glass plate and put in a plastic bag to retain moisture. We put the whole setup in a dark environment at a temperature of about 75 degrees. We heard that some seeds sprout within 24 hours but could take up to 11 days in extreme conditions.

Friday, August 21st (Day 3)

Much to our surprise, all ten seeds germinated today. We made our first trip to brew and grow. Picked up a bag of FoxFarm Ocean Forest Potting Soil and six net pots. We later found how poorly these pots worked. For later cycles transplant right from the cloning cubes to full sized pots. We carefully placed each of the seeds an inch below the surface of the soil and gave them a nice watering. Divided the plants up between two areas, one will be forever known as Grow Room A and the other, Grow Room B. Six of the plants were put into A and B has four plants. Now, we wait again.

Monday, August 24th (Day 6)

The sprouts have finally broken the surface of the soil and we can tell they are about to give way to leaves. Time to get some lights on these babies. We went to Menards and picked up four 200 watt compact florescent light bulbs that draw 65 watts power each, two lamp cords and two 2-way light sockets. The light temperature of the CFLs is 6500k. A good start. We made two lights, one for each grow room. We continue the watering schedule of approximately once every two days but still not feeding them.

Wednesday, August 26th (Day 8)

First signs of leaves showed today. As a result, both grow rooms were covered with tin foil and reflectors were made for the lights out of cardboard, tinfoil and reflective tape. An additional two 200 watt CFLs were added to the lights of Grow Room B. The lights were hung by the lamp cords, so the lights were very close to the plants, and started on a cycle of 18 hours on and 6 hours off. Fans were also placed on indirect paths to simulate fresh air and mild wind. In addition to watering every other day we also started daily misting the plants.

Thursday, September 3rd (Day 16)

Grow Room A has a couple leaves, but Grow Room B has really began to flourish, growing noticeable faster. We decided it was because Grow Room B has twice the light and better, bigger pots. Our 2nd trip to Brew n’ Grow found us buying a quart of FoxFarm’s Big Bloom, a measuring cup, a manual Ph Tester, some pot trays, and Grow Room B’s first 150 watt HPS light. We fed the babies for the first time today. Started them on a diet of 2 tablespoons of FoxFarm’s Big Bloom to a gallon of distilled water. As a side note, we also only water the plants with distilled water. Also, Grow Room A has an average temperature of 70 degrees with 30% humidity and Grow Room B has an average temperature of 80 degrees with 40% humidity.

Tuesday, September 8th (Day 21)

One of our weaker plants died sometime previous to this after an attempt at revival by moving it briefly to Grow Room B. Now Grow Room A has 5 plants and are starting to develop red stems and yellowing bottom leaves. They were also growing quite slow. We decided that this was due to a nitrogen deficiency. We will start the next segment of feeding next Thursday and also transplant them to the larger pots which were acquired this day. Also a pruning scissors and another 2 water bottles to add to the 2 we already have. Also added 2 more CFLs to Grow Room A to match the light output of Grow Room B.

Thursday, September 10th (Day 23)

Made another run to Brew n’ Grow. Picked up a quart of FoxFarm’s Grow Big, which has the amount of nitrogen we need, another 150 watt HPS light for Grow Room B, and another bag of FoxFarm’s Ocean Forest Potting Soil. We transplanted the yellowing plants in Grow Room B to the better, bigger pots after we fed them 2 tablespoons of Big Bloom and 2 teaspoons of Grow Big to a gallon of water. As a side note I forgot to vigorously shake the bottle before measuring it out so the dosage might not have been full. The plants almost immediately perked up and gradually improved. At the same time Grow Room B developed some problems, burnt/yellowing (whitish) leaves. Some Epsom Salts and other lime products were picked up to combat nutrient problems. But the burning problem was most likely due to over feeding and foliage feeding, cause we tried misting with food to see the effect. They began to improve shortly after cutting back their food supply.

Thursday, September 17th (Day 30)

Continue the feeding schedule of 2 tablespoon of Big Bloom and 2 teaspoons of Grow Big. The right full dosage sure made a difference. The plants growth rate speeds up nicely and the leaves are now looking lush green. Nearly all the plants are looking perfectly after this last feeding.

Tuesday, September 22nd (Day 35)

They are looking beautiful, here is the first picture. These are the plants in Grow Room B. I will post a picture of Grow Room A next entry.

Feel free to post any comments or advise anyone can offer thus far.

Thursday, September 24th (Day 37)

Today we continue the feeding schedule of 2 tablespoons Big Bloom and we upped the dosage of Grow Big to 3 teaspoons.

Monday, September 28th (Day 41)

Looking very decent today. Below are some interesting pictures:

Here are some photos of Grow Room A:

Nice and Green, growing quite rapidly. Can not find much yellow anywhere. They look happy.

Below are some updated photos of Grow Room B, They might need some help.

Even though the plants in Grow Room B don’t look too terribly unhealthy they still seem to have a depressed look to them. A little yellowing here and there still and a burn or two. Are these plants being over or under watered, or is it normal for them to look that way at this stage? Any suggestions?

This isn't an official update. I'd just like to add a side note: Grow Room B has perked up nicely and here is a photo from Grow Room A taken earlier today. Will work on official journal entries next week.

Thursday, October 1st (Day 44)

Continued the feeding schedule of 2 tablespoons Big Bloom and 3 teaspoons Grow Big. The plants in Grow Room B were tied down also, More on that next week.

Wednesday, October 7th (Day 50)

Today we were very productive. We started with a trip to menards and Brew n' Grow to pick up supplies. First thing we did is empty both grow rooms completely, tore pounds of the ripped tin foil from the walls. We then tied the plants down for the first time, beginning our method of low stress training to improve yield. We used tiny zip ties, loosely attached to the plants, and sewing thread stretched down to the pot where it's connected with duct tape. We replaced the tinfoil in both Grow Rooms with 5 feet high of 1 mil reflective mylar. It looks great. We put everything back in both rooms and began construction on the carbon filter fan inspired by the design on this site as the rooms had began to smell like weed already. menards didn't have any mesh screen or substitute that we could find. So we got a 6" inline fan and sliced some preferation lines into thick poster board to curve it around the fan. We attached the carbon filter sheet to the end to the extension with a hose clamp and tape for good measure. Not sure if this will work 100%, but i will post pictures of the finished product once we do get it to work. If it doesn't work this way we will probably try putting holes in the extension and wrapping the carbon filter sheets around it and duct taping the end. Below are some nice pictures of the tied down plants which are already starting to show new bud sites. Grow Room A first and then Grow Room B:

Thursday, October 8th (Day 51)

Feeding day! Continued the dosage of 2 tablespoons Big Bloom and 3 teaspoons Grow Big. Can't wait to see what the new setup does with this week's feeding. Apparently it smells less like weed today but the smell is not entirly gone. Give it one more day before we decide to make some alterations.

Any thoughts or comments will be well appreciated and get some rep.

Thursday, October 15th (Day 58)

Yet another feeding day, continued the usual dosage, extending the length of this dose because we are extending veg for low stress training purposes. For the record that is 2 tablespoons Big Bloom and 3 teaspoons Grow Big to a gallon of distilled water. The half-ass carbon filter fan is working ok, but it will get much worse, so we will modify this in the next couple weeks when we figure out exactly what we are gonna do. The plants are really getting large now and are beginning to develop lower yellow leaves. So we will start them on a feeding of twice a week and see how that pans out.

Friday, October 16th (Day 59)

Tragedy struck today! The light cord slipped and the lights fell on the plants breaking them in half! I was terrified, but we put the lights on a full 24 hour cycle and by the next day they were miraculously repaired, and for the most part our LST jobs were still intact. Hope that didn't stress the plants too much.

Tuesday, October 20th (Day 63)

Tied down the plants for the 2nd time. They are looking good, nice green color. Here is a picture from Grow Room A before they were tied down for the 2nd time. More pictures to come.

Any Comments Appreciated!

This one is a picture of Grow Room A after they have been tied down again:

The ones in Grow Room B are looking fantastic as well. The next photos are from them:

Overall, they aren't perfect but they are looking nice.

Any Comments will be appreciated

I'm watching. Those are some awesome looking plants and that strain is well worth the effort. I harvested 2 sc plants kind of early (my grow buddy was a little impatient) @ 58 days into flower. The other 3 plants were harvested at 70 days. The difference was dramatic. It is just fine weed. My plants did not look that bushy and flush, but still produced excellent product. I'm excited to watch the rest of your grow.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I'm really excited now that I heard your end product turned out great. To be honest, first time I grew, I didn't quite make it to flowering. To this day I do not know for sure what happen to those plants. DrDanks says:
"ALWAYS GROW WITH SOMEONE YOU KNOW."
We plan on keeping them in veg for another 30 or so days, tie them down more, really bush them out across the grow rooms. Then we intend to setup the cloning room and put these ladies under the HPS lights.
I would also like to add, I had an idea for a drying chamber. We would take a grocery box, like the kind from CUB and Rainbow, and tie each of the buds to string where we would duct tape the other end of the string to the bottom of the Grocery Box, then turn it over. It would be nearly pitch black, except where the handle holes are, which would let in a slight ventilation. Keep in mind that after this stage we are still gonna cure in glass mason jars. What do you guys think? Do you think this would be an effective way of Drying?

Any Comments Appreciated.

i have never had a problem with drying, especially this time of year. i just hang em my basement, which is fairly dry in the fall, winter, spring, for 5-6 days with a couple fans. the fans aren't aimed directly at the buds, but they are aimed low, bounce off the walls and deep the air flowing. after that, i trim into mason jars and keep an eye on them, burping just out of principle for the first few days, and then as needed, which isn't much. i do find the longer they stay in the jars, the better the smoke.

I am the Grower for Grow Room B. The plants has progress quite a lot since i feed them last. Last measurment before previous feeding is 13inches tall and 17inches wide. Today measurment at 4:02am on oct 30 the measurment of the same plants is 15inches tall and 22inches wide, with more bud sites reaching up for the lights, soon will be ready to be tie down. Time for me to pass out, I post some pictures this Sunday.

PS. This is my first grow.
