Been having some heat problems with the non vented 400MH while vegging.Switched to my 1000MH with a vented hood and ran a dedicated fan for that. Also I got a y tube for intake so 1 part of intake goes through carbon filter and the other from a/c.Much better.temps now around 81.The LA Confidential def seems to be the slowest grower. The Madman seem to be growing the fastest.....I got the Madman,La Con and Kushberry on the 20th and the 2 SFV and 1 Tahoe a week later.

imo your temps are still to high. my flower room got to around 80-82 for a couple of days and i noticed bud production slowed dramatically. i fixed temps and they picked up a week later. I look at it like i lost a week off schedule!!

Yeah the temps are higher than I would like for sure. My problem is the exhaust heat is being dumped back into same room. Window is open but I cannot vent straight out it because of neighbors. The 1000 in a 4 x 4 is hard to keep cool. Ac being sucked in helps a lot. At least when it is on. Prob 60 percent of time. I really want a real portable ac unit to regulate temps better. Expensive though. No can do air chiller either. Sigh

Gonna switch the light to 12/12 in a day or so.

My cat managed to open the tent and eat a few leaves off a few plants....sigh..but they look like they will be ok

Is your 1000watt in a cool hood, or cool tube? You might also step up the fan to a 6 or 8 or 10 inch if possible(ultimately the cfm is the most important, not the size, but it is still an issue).

If you use a cooltube or cool hood, you can vent out the light heat, Issue. If your room has all the heat, you might try using an attic/ceiling exaust. This would simply puke all the hot air from the room, into the ceiling/attic. Wether or not this is possible, you need to do something. The tent will always be hotter inside than the room it is in. Also, a 1000w in a 4x4 is bordering on toooo much. Why, I have a good friend with a 4x8, and he has problems with getting rid of the 1000watts heat, with a cool hood, with an a/c in the tent, and with an air conditioned room our side of it! ! !

You might bite the bullet and scale down the 1000w for a single 600w, and supllement with the t5's. . . just a thought.

One idea, it would take a whole lot of rigging( duct tape and ducting). . . but you can always put a window a/c in a window, and duct it into the tent. For about 499$ you can get a 25,000btu at lowes(maybe home depot as well). I personally have the portable Soleus, but yes they are expensive, and hard to fit into a 4x4 tent.

Its a Hydro-farm Reflector with lens.It has built in 4" flanges/openings on both sides.I am on the same page with you regarding the 1000 being maybe too much and the need for a bigger fan for exhaust. Those are the two main things I constantly think about..My last few grows have been with a 400w but some was willing to loan me a 1000w.So I am giving it a go and am now thinking..hmmmmmCan this be toooo much light/HEAT Ideally I would have a 600w electronic with at least a 6" fan just for the light exhaust.Next year.....
Well I have only Two-4" fans. One pulls air from inside the tent thru the carbon filter and at the same time fresh air from outside connected by a Y connector(also a small 4" duct booster fan sucking from end of outside ducting)--thru the light--thru fan--then exhausting HOT air to ceiling in room towards cracked window.Fan 2 is pulling air from outside tent thru carbon filter and from ducting connected to ceiling central ac/vent(which used to be on all the time..now its cooling off outside..sigh) to help cool.
I really cant have anything showing from my window as it is a semi-used walkway by it.Also the a/c unit would be weird since there is central a/c in complex.I guess I should at least get a bigger fan to help suck all that air thru the light and filter.I can post some pics if it helps with the venting setup.

You can always buy some of those pancake inline fans/booster fans from home depot for around 25 to 35 dollars. 2 mor fans is two more fans( for in or out).

I think I am going to do just that. You think 3 4" booster fans would work for just pulling the hot air from the hood out? Then I would be able to use one of the 4" fans just for sucking hot air from inside tent through carbon filter. You think this would be better? Appreciate the comments.

Feeding day....They are all 1 week into flower.I upgraded my exhaust fan from a 4" to a 6" to help with the heat. Its has brought the temps down a few degrees to about 78-79 average

hmmm... my biggest concern here is that you are in a 'complex'. deffinitely hope ur carbon scrubber is up to the task. the next concern is that you have the ventilation issues - made more troublesome by the fact that you probably can't be cutting holes into the floor / ceiling / walls. do you at least control the room temperature that the grow-tent is in ? a diagram of your current ventilation and fan placement would be useful. maybe hold of for a bit on the lowe's/home depot cheapo in-line ducting fans... they aren't necesarily good for much. so you have 2 good inline fans and one 'ducting fan' ? how / where is your clone and veg. setup ? what other available spaces do you have ? a closet or a small room ?

as far as where you are at... things do appear to be working alright just as they are. and if you can keep the heat in check, the 1000w lamp will make for some nice buds. you've got 7 plants in just a bit over 9 square feet of space. From the top-down view you've already almost achieved the 'sea-of-green'. Meaning you'll probably want to switch to flower 12 on 12 off fairly soon if you haven't already. make sure its light-tight and have the hps on at night to further reduce the extra heat problems. what length are your t5's ? hopefully you have changed the locks on your doors (without asking the landlords permission or telling him that you have) no one needs to be popping in unannounced. I'd put an additional lock on the bedroom door as well, or whatever room you are using. :leaf:

(EDIT: woops, u say ur one week into flower now, good call there.)

Thanks for stopping by DaGambler. They are all on day 13 of flower.Yeah the complex thing sucks but I have taken some precautions.I do have 2 carbon filters. One cleaning the intake air and one cleaning the exhaust air. Also a automated air-freshner/odor killer in the room the tent is in.Gonna change locks now though.

I upgraded and bought a 6" fan so now have 1-6" vortex, 2-4" vortex and 1 4" inline booster fan.I am only using 1-6" and 1-4" right now though. The 6" is placed just outside the top exhaust port pulling/sucking air thru the carbon filter hung high in the tent---thru the reflector---thru the 6" fan--now pushing air thru 6" thermal wrapped ducting for 6ft then reduced to regualr 4" ducting for approx 14ft---20ft total--outside of general room.Surprisingly good hot airflow at the end of the ducting expelling out of the main room helps to keep the temps in the main room not the grow tent at around 72 degrees average with central a/c and window open at night.I do run the 1000 at night only to help with the temps like you mentioned. My 4" vortex on a speed controller is pulling/sucking air thru carbon filter then into tent for fresh air intake.Maintaining negative pressure.
Thinking about using the extra 4" fan strictly for exhausting the light air/heat and using a y connector to run it into the main exhaust line exiting the room.Whatcha think?I will try to take some pictures of the setup tonight when the lights come on.
At this time I use the tent for clone/veg and bloom. No perpetual cycle yet.I do have the room for a clone or small veg area in the same area but it wouldn't be to big.The T5 lights are only like 18" maybe.I only really use them in the clone/veg stage.

I started a G13 Power Skunk from seed that sprouted 2 weeks ago that I threw in there last minute for a total of 8.

the plants are looking very good.

when you say 'fresh air' intake... where is this coming from ? hopefully you're keeping a window cracked open or something... if it doesn't pull from directly outside.

Thanks. I appreciate the kind words. I try to give them all the attention they need.
Yes the window is always open bringing in fresh air to the intake filter right in front of it. With the 4" ducting and another small fan shooting air out the room it helps to draw the fresh air in the window.

Here are some updated pictures and measurments at day 14 flower.I took the pictures under regular light so you could see the natural plant color easier.
Kushberry 21"
LA Confidential 17"
Madman 27"
Madman (topped) 28"
SFV OG 30"
SFV OG (topped) 27"
Tahoe OG (topped) 29"
