Calyxxx Mum (Bonsai)

Figured I would start a journal on my maintenance of my bonsai mum, strain is Almighty Seeds Calyxxx.

Mine is a clone of a very skunky, bluish/purplish hues in late flower pheno. Nice dense nugs. She's in a 6" deep pot, 8" wide at the top. Nute with fish fert every now n' then, mainly when she asks for it.

Here's a few pics. First three before a trimming for clones, and one after shot. Before haircut, she was just under 17". After haircut just under 11" with 2 clones kept out of 4-5.

Will update with pics when maintenance is done.

P.S.- She's pretty young still. Almost 8 months. Will prolly keep till she's 2, or till I find better genetics :)

Thanks man-o. Kind words.

P.S.- I think I'm just gunna put all my calyxxx photos(i.e. harvests, bud shots, etc...) here as well, to keep it all together.

man you have a really nice mom man. can you give me some pointers on doing a mom like that, I want the next mother i do to be real nice. my last mother, which when I did her it was my first time, well she was all over the place if you know what I mean, needless to say she was all streched out:hump:*

*although this sounds like like sexual inuendo, It is a real question:bigjoint:

Thank-you DonnieO.

Panda, I will be posting here how I care for her when she needs tending. However I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. PM me whatever you'd like to know m8.

Did a little branch re-working today. I felt that the branch in question would be better suited if it had a curve where it would go horizontal for a moment(that and I wanted to get my hands dirty :) ).

The first picture is a before shot.

The second picture is an after shot, same view.

The third picture is a close up ariel view of the tie and where I hooked it.

I use twisty ties for LST, I can get it in 30 foot rolls from my local hardware store fer a buck, can't beat that.

P.S.- Also took two clones afterwards.

Not much too see for the mum since the last pic. You can see where I took a clone just after the previous pic, on the LST'd branch. You can also see that the plant is beginning to go rootbound. Will most likely not be able to clone from her fer another week or two as she goes rootbound.

Stem's about a half inch thick, maybe slightly smaller. She'll get fatter.... can't wait. Really can't wait till she has straight bark... that's my favorite.

Just harvested a clone, 3 gallon bucket SCRoG style. As usual, extremely pretty buds on chop, lost the color after a day of hanging. Strong skunk smell from this one, smells like roadkill.

Will post some pics of the buds with a final dry weight and smoke report a.s.a.p.

Also, I'll be trimming my mums roots back in a few days. Gave her a fat juicing earlier today, just waiting for her to go dry now(perverts :P ). Will provide pics of the whole process.

Also, a little more info about the strain....

Almightys Calyxxx - This unique 3 way hybrid combines two of the finest aromatically pleasing Canadian strains Grapefruit and Friesland with a great old school humbolt that has one of the most satisfying, full body highs that can be experienced. The result will truly amaze you. Extreme resin production, huge buds and huge flowers (or calyx's ) that fold over and into each other and a very intense
aroma make Calyxxx a favorite.

Friesland is a cross of NLx5 and Skunk#1. Grapefruit is a cross of C99, and a mystery sativa that's suppose too be some hardcore fruity pheno.

From what I know about the pheno I have, is that in late flower is smells like roadkill, and stinks with the skunk smell throughout cure, just gets a bit duller with time. The colors it expresses in flower I feel are due too the Grapefruit along with the weight, but with the smoke/smell and potency of Friesland.

I can't say any of this 100% positively, but I'm high, and was contemplatin' :P

P.S.- Taste wise... this ones been a bit of a bitch too place, however. I noticed it smelled a bit like gasoline every now n' then, and tastes like it more and more with the cure. I didn't take any of this too heart, till a week or two ago when two friends of mine, who were begifted presents of mine, told me they thought it smelled and tasts like diesel. One friend goes through quite a bit of the sweet herb via dealing, and gets bonuses now n' then, and was gifted a bit of diesel recently. Before he got the diesel, he says couldn't place the Calyxxx smell/taste at all. Now he swears it's damn near the exact same smell/taste, and won't quit bitching fer' more :P

Hey all, I uploaded my root trimming pics into my gallery, but I still don't see em'.... till then...

All I really did was remove 2/3's of the soil. I used a clean serated knife, or bread knife. I made a 3-4 inch square around the stem, and chopped off the bottom. Only thing too watch out for is to make sure not to damage the taproot. As long as you're not having difficulty cutting, you shouldn't worry. Will upload a before and after pic of the roots, and will try a full post later on.

Over the next week, my mum will come out of being rootbound, her stem will turn a nice green, and growth will begin again. Hope to take 3-5 clones at the end of week.

***EDIT***

Pictures are in my gallery, but I'm not gunna make another post about em', pretty simple to get the process, just start with Rootrim 1 and work your way up.

Well guys, not much to update really. Still waitin' on my mum to fully come out of the root trim. Also added some pics of a clone I SOG'd.

Notice the red color in the SOG clone? Seems to express it right around 100 days flower, and keeps going.

A picture of the same clone using the SOG technique. Four days since chooped, first day in the paperbag.

Seems that most of the red turned more golden around 110 days into flower... when I noticed this I decided to chop. Has turned out with some beautiful coloring, hope she smokes as good as she looks :)

Smoke on the SOG is pretty damn delectible... overall it's just like its previousely chopped sisters, but with a little more punch and I smell a hint of pine once cured. And it's roughly 70%+ gold in color, and the small amount of green is lush with bluish/purplish hues.

Have got a clone in veg that I've been LST'ng the living shit out of, will be repotting and throwing into flower either tomorrow or the next day. Here's a pic of the clone two weeks ago, after the first tying. Have tied the branch in the pic down too the pot, and all the intital side shoots as well. Also been pinching it everyother day roughly 10 times different places. Will add new pics asap.
