Big Buddha Blue Cheese under CFLs

My plant is already 14 days old, but better late than never. I've been "busy with school"... :joint:

For my first ever grow I'm using a setup just like the one in SeeMoreBuds' book, "Buds for Less".

The plant is in two 5-gallon buckets, with a proper drain hole. It sits in the corner of a siding closet.

As of right now my lights are 18/6.
CFLs:
1 - 65w (300 w equivalent)
2 - 42 (150 w)
2 - 23 (100 w)

Temps stay above 25º, sometimes reaching 30-32º.

I use a small fan to blow air onto the plant and act as wind (i.e. strengthen the stem) and a larger fan which hangs near the lights and blows the hot air out of the closet.

Comments are welcome. :peace:

nice!
where'd ya get the high wattage cfl's
Those are not the actual CFL wattages, he listed the 'equivalent' value.

Actual 125W+ cfls are tubular shaped not coiled.

He has 1x 68w (300w eq) 2x 42w(150w equiv) 2x26w (100w equiv)
He has a total of 204W

I have been having nothing but problems from my bb blue cheese plant, it can't take nutrients worth shit and it is an extremely slow growing plant, might be the genetics of my seed, but I am not happy with it at all.

Looks like yours is fairing off a little better than mine is.

Sorry about the wattage mix-up, I thought I had already edited that.

The only other Blue Cheese grow I've seen was this which turned out dank as hell.

I haven't started with nutes yet but I have been adding a small bit of Thrive-Alive B-1 since I transplanted it. I don't really know how much of a difference it makes but it's looking good so far.

I'm still never 100% when to water. I order a cheap light/moisture/pH meter off ebay but I later read that it's kinda shitty. I watered it with just about 1.75 L yesterday in two waterings spaced 45 min apart. I also ordered a cheap Relative Humidity meter, just to see what that's up to.

Day 15

Damn this is fun! Watching my baby grow is the highlight of my day. It's starting to take off, too! I grabbed my roommates camera, so these pics are pretty legit.

I did also mix in some bone meal and potash to the soil before I transplanted it. It only took a very small amount.

I moved the fan to another location, lower to the plant. Is there such a thing as too much "wind"? It's not a hurricane in my closet, and the plant isn't blowing over or anything like that, but couldn't it potentially dry out the soil? I don't think I'll ever be done tweaking and perfecting my closet.

I think I'm getting within a few days of switching over to 12/12... we'll see....

So my friend geekin69 hooked it up with two more 42W CFLs!! So I got rid of the two 23 Watters and plugged these bad boys in.

We did a little revamp of the setup, moving the two pairs of 42W lights up about 3 inches. It was not a small feat but now all the lights are nice and close to the plant. Moving the lights down the two side-boards is going to be a regular job, but completely necessary. Hopefully the lighting stays pretty even. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICS. Is this amount of lighting unnecessary at this stage?

The fan was moved again, directly behind the plant, blowing the hot air straight out.

We also cut the metal pipe that goes down into the bottom of the bucket so that the bucket can be rotated 180º without hitting anything. That's the pipe we'll later be using to add water directly to the bottom (if the roots make it there).

I spend a shit ton of time with my plant, tweaking the setup and watching it grow. Hopefully it turns out well.

gotta go bongsmilie

Guess the lights weren't too overwhelming, she's still looking perfect. Even the branches are getting branches now.

Edit: Just topped the plant after taking the first few pics, but then I took some close-ups to show what I did. After I topped her she was watered with 2 liters of pH balanced water.

Pics after I topped her:

Sorry to hear about your frustration with blue cheeze. Maybe whoever grew the plant didnt know what he/she was doing.
I think Zonged Out will have better results. His blue cheeze is looking great and Im sure it will be some of the best smoke around when its finished.

Count the cfl's Zonged Out has. If you like the results... go with that. Good luck man

yea, i' definitely read some mixed reviews about this strain and this plant. i guess i'll just have to find out for myself.

I think my plant is "lazy". It seems to be getting so much light that it doesn't really know which way is up, so she's growing mad sideways now. Should make LSTing a little more fun. :-D

Other than that, she's doing fine. I don't know if the temps got up or something today, but the newest set of leaves seem to be arching back quite a bit.

The leaves I was talking about last night are nice and pointy now. I'm heading out of town for a few days, but my bud geekin69 is going to be plantsitting the Blue Cheese. He knows what he's doing, so hopefully he won't hark it.

So I'm going to miss my first plant's switch to flowering. She's going to be so much bigger when I get back! Oh well. There will be plenty of other opportunities, hopefully. :weed:

I tried to position the plant in the same position in some of them.

This next pic is of the leaves that were arched back last night:

Until flowering,
