slabhead's 09

I've got to get something growing here. All this late season rain and cold weather has already got me behind, or was it those sweet nugs from last year, LOL. Gotta listen to the old timers around here to wait until after Easter. I always that that was a crock of shit since I'd had earlier gardens. But this year frosts and cold wet rain right up till then. At least I started some seeds back when we had some promising weather. Got a few seedlings coming along nothing spectacular <yet> . I brought them in a few days ago to keep them from rotting and frostburn. And that damn 40 mph wind we were having. grrrr Lights not the best but seemed to have perked them up some.
Oh BTW, Happy 420 everyone. I made a trip this morning over to support my local head shop. Picked up a few goodies for the ride home. Ahhhh, now I feel like it a happy 420...:bigjoint: Wish my new vaporizer would show up today. Wouldn't that be an sweet 420 present?bongsmilie
Hopefully with a little help from Mother Nature and my green thumb I can start having better entries and pics and try to keep the journal updated. So a little background on me...growing since the mid 70's, always outdoors, not always successful. My first grow journal was in a spiral notebook that I collected and pasted with polaroids and clipped news articles. With some tips and advice I'm getting I hope slabhead's 09 is the best EVER. So welcome back old friends, howdy to the new folks, and a special thanks to all the RIU pepes that keep it rolling. I might be an old dog but I'm learning new tricks all the time. slabhead

And the virgin girls are coming along, not what I'd like to see this time o yr but we've had a very wet late spring. I got the rest of the plots prepared in the last few days and gonna give the critters a few more days of sniffing and looking before tranplanting.

nice grow you have there dude! We need more BIG growers in the country!
thx cack, it's a lot of work doing a big grow by yourself but the only was to ensure success. I'm gonna save a few of those males with the purple showing and let them mature a bit more about 5 miles away then harvest some pollen for some crossing.

O-gro, yep bagseed from some of my better sources. All those lbs last year and not a single seed did I produce. < https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/107815-slabheads-late-season-post1441063.html#post1441063 > Soooo, I'm gonna try my hand at pollinating a few branches of the prime girls later this fall.
LOL on the shrooms dude. I am just blessed to have some naturally occuring spores and the perfect conditions for them. Organic Cows and Mild Springs and Free-Ranging Spores. All I have to do is identify, pick, clean, dry <preferred if you've ever eaten fresh psylosibe> and trip. I like to do about 8 to 10 grams of dried to have a real wild time. I just snip them up into tiny bits put them on a sandwhich <ham and cheese w/ spicey mustard> and enjoy my lunch/trip....

Almost forgot to mention the damn wild hog I found bedded down in one of my plots. And yes those tusks are razor sharp. Put some sausage in the freezer for later to go with the venison...

I see.. do you ever consider a different strain?? I know its obviously a decent strain.. since you've been smoking it for a while now... but i found having 1 or 2 other strains was yummy..lol, make a nice salad..lol.. i'm just asking cause i'm trying a shitload of diff strains to have diff finishing dates.. diff quality, yeild..etc.. but i do wanna find the top 3 strains.. and stick with em.. cause i got sick of the poop going around.. and the same old shiit... LOL, u shud b the mushroom man..lmao, jkss.. i'd deff like to try some of those baby's... lol.. sound reallllly good on a sandwich too..lol, i usually would pop em in my mouth with a bit of a liquid.. chew em for minutes on end, and make sure you swallow every little bitt... Ewwww,, but on other hands your ham sam sounds delicious.. :D

hey there genfranco, I'll rope the handles together on my water jugs but this is the first time I've tried using them as seedling planters. What I found was that they are a good size and I could carry 4 of them in each hand <8 per trip to set out>. The thing I don't like is I had to cut each one to get the plant out. That was a pain in the planting process. Get out the knife, cut the jug, extract the plant while trying to keep track of the knife....LOL... I'll stick to the round pots next time as they just pop out and are reusable.
Well I got everything in the ground, FINALLY!!!! Planted, mulched, watered, and growing. Whew, I know I'm running behind this yr but at least I'm back to growing again. Pics coming soon <hands were full of EVERYTHING!!!>...
Time to sit back and warm up the vaporizer.....ahhhhhhhh yes

was that cock sucker dead??
LOL, he was quite alive when I walked up on him but very dead when I popped a cap in his ass. Sadly I'm seeing more tracks almost every time I go into that area. It's quite exciting to be sneaking into your grow with wild hogs all around ya. Sometimes you can smell them but never see them. Sometimes the damn imagination makes it seem like they are stalking ya. I've been pissing around each plot trying to scare them away but so far I'm still seeing fresh tracks in my soil. Hopefully they won't root up ALL of my seedlings. If that happens I'll declare war on them.

I just had one plant molested since setting them out and it looked like an armadillo digging around. Other than some slight transplant shock all seem to be doing alright. They aren't much at this stage but pics seem to please the populace....LOL <me too> I topped everything this year so no 3 ft long buds this time. AHhhhhhhhhh, but there shall be lots of buds. slabhead has many friends ...

The first 3 pics are of the one plant that was molested, as I found it and after I replanted it. The other pics are of individual plants.

and this spot is showing potential too...
So that's what I've got going in those two spots. The male garden is located about 5 miles away and there is one other area a couple miles from it. Damn it's about time for a sammy now and a tall glass of iced tea. Later friends......slabhead :bigjoint:
