First Grow Bagseed w/CFLs (pics)

Well everyone, I am now 84 days into Flower and my plant is coming down! I'm going to cut some lower branches today, and leave my main 3 colas a couple days longer. I have been doing trichome tests under my 60x magnifying scope and have noticed about 60% cloudy, 30% clear and about 10% amber scattered here and there. This sounds like a good ratio for me to take some branches downs. This is my first time judging trichomes so I hope I have this figured out.

Here are some pics I snapped today. The first pic is a cola staying put for a couple more days. The second picture is one that is coming down!

Just finished my test run harvest. I cut down the 3 weakest branches on my plant that were at the maturity I desired. I still have 4 main colas. They look nice and thick....maybe still a little leafy,

I know these don't look the best, but someone at least tell me I did an OK job for a first timer!!!!!

Decided to wait another day on the rest of the plant. Will give her 24hrs darkness starting in about an hour or so!

Yeah for sure the genetics weren't the best on this plant, at least from first glimpse. But hey, we're not smoking it this might be some bomb shit. Just a thought/comment on cropping the weaker limbs... I myself would have let all of it go for a couple more days, cut the main colas and let the smaller ones possibly go for another week. I haven't done any research on this method, but my thought is that way all the energy would be diverted to the smaller ones possibly giving them a huge boost in that last week. Although a lot of the energy would be put to work healing the cut areas, but that's going to be the case anytime you make a cut.

I'd like to know how much your yield is off the smaller cuts. Looks like maybe a quad when it's dried. Awesome bro. I'd also give it 48 hours of darkness. I read 48 hours is optimal some people even go a full 3 days. CFLs rock and they're only getting better. Peace.

Thanks for the reply GreenThumb. Your method of cutting the main colas first and letting the others go for a week or so is an excellent one. One I wish I would have thought of and considered! The reason i decided to chop my lowers was the stage the trics were at. They were showing more amber than I anticipated and thought it was a perfect time to do a test run.

I agree. I'll have to try that method when mine is ready to harvest and let you know if I thought it was worth it or not. Did you try any of the quick dry methods on any of that yet to test?

What's in that rubbermaid and how much did you pay for the nutrients, stones, etc. in there?

Yes I have tried a quick dry method on a couple bowls worth.

hey, just read through your grow. looks like you had some issues with nutes but your setup looks very nice. with some really good seeds you can have a very sweet grow next time. props to you

Good job man +rep!!!! I am just starting my first grow as well and this was one of the threads that ive made it all the way thru, start to finish. I hope we have as much luck as first timers, as those are some pretty frosty nugs u have there. Keep up the good work. We will be lookin forward to ur next grow!

first post. read ur whole journal. kinda a bugger bout that one being some swag but they both looked great and awesome stuff for your first grow this actually inspired me to take some seeds i had lying around and throwing them into some soil to see what happens. theyre swag but hey something to do and learn from till i can afford good seeds. and btw what geffcardo said how many cfls were u using
