First grow + Pics of setup. (lowryders #2 santa maria)

sup guys, new here. Thought id find a place to diary my first grow, and glad ive found one fairly populated. I've been lurking the forums for about 2 months reading, i didn't want to join and ask all the same noob questions.

anyhow, im growing 5X lowryders #2 (santa maria's) non feminized. For anyone who hasn't heard of them, they are an automatic flowing plant which are ready to harvest within 9weeks from seed, at about 16" of total height.

heres a pic:





i have quite a small space for growing hence starting with lowryders, if growing "grows" on me, i may make a larger one in the future.

its 2ft, by 2ft, by 2.5ft.





#1 - 6" Fan, couldn't find ocilating that was this small and mountable
#2 - 400W HPS light with reflector
#3 - Thermom, area sits at around 30celcius or 90farenheight.
#4 - Vent to outside by 1ft, tube sealed with airgrates to prevent bugs
#5 - 125W CFL (flourecent) for early stages of growth.
#6 - Wall timers
#7 - Ballast

any question or comments? seeds have been germinating for 24 hours, only question i have, is do i plant root down or root up?

i heard about them a couple weeks after buying the lowryders, lowryders are half that price for 5, but mine are unfeminized. Hope i dont get a bunch of motherfuckers with balls.

they have broken the surface. wahoooooooooo!

id originally planted them 2 inch deep by accident because im an idiot, i started to unearth them and came across some leaves (thats why the pots are only half full with soil, the were originally brimmed LOL!). i left them about 1cm deep and kept the light on them, and when i woke up they were stood up.

i currently have 1, 60watt cfl on them, its supposed to be a 125watt but half of the light got broke on one side when i had it delivered.

how long will they survive on a 60watt between 5 of them, i do have a proper reflector so keep that in mind.

i do have a 400watt hps on standby aswell, but dont really think theres much point yet as they are so small. when should i switch to it?



obviously they are pretty small still, i will do an update next week.

if i were you i would raise the ballast of the floor incase of spillages etc - water + electricity dont go well together.

no i say get the ballast outa there it adds way too much unneccesary heat

heat issue is fine, its winter here coming up and the air vent is only a foot from outside.

temp is never abover 80.


okay guys, im having a problem this morning. if you remember me saying, i unearthed the plants a little then sprinkled some soil on top because id originally planted them too deep.

anyway, 2 of the plants ae up and sprouted and doing well, but with the other 3, ive picked out the seeds because the root was pushing the seeds out of the soil (mayb i planted too shallow this time, i dont know?) i replanted them anyway, so hopefully the other 3 are up tommorow.

i may call the whole thing off if there not and start all over, cos im not using a 400watt hps for weeks, just to discover the 2 plats are male, and even if they were both female, you wont get shit off just 2 lowryders. should have bought 10 fem in the first place really, instead of 5 norm.....DOH.

just incase of any cofusuion, when i unearthed the 3 this morning, they were still just seeds with a long tap root, yet the other 2 are about an inch big in height with leaves

your grow space looks scaryly familiar to mine (prob not a word but hey)

mine is pretty much exactly like yours slightdiffrences though. i dont have a 400w hps i have a 70w

haha, were both using b&q compost instead of pottin soil too.

i dont see why it wont grow in it. i find it very good soil considering how cheap it is.

i added like 15% perlite aswell.

when i repot them in 2 weeks once all the root structure is sorted, im gonna go to a garden centre and switch to potting soil and buy proper nutes i think.

yeh mine are only in small pots like yours, when i do the transplant i'l move them to there final pots from these one's and use perlite and proper soil and nutes.

i jus used this for a start off point.

you should not have dug up the other seeds,
now it almost sure that they will not grow
