IM happy that your happy with your results mate....

tbh i wasn't expecting your yeild to be significantly larger because this technique is not about increasing yield....however you have found a few of the true uses of the technique....firstly lower trim time, easier plant management during flower....and most importantly bud uniformity, the yield didn't increase much, but you had no popcorn, most buds maturing at the same time therefore increasing general potancey.... Buds of an equal size increase bag appeal for the sellers out there.....

you have also discovered that it works for some strains and not others it works best with indicas (e.g your og) but can make leggy sats controllable and is good for limiting wastage.....

i feel the technique can be improved on, what would you do differently next time, and which strains didn't really take to it....

Hey everyone.

So after 9 days drying time the critical+ was ready for jars last night.

Here is a snap of the critical+ clones weight.

I TARE my scales with the 180g dish on top.

Here is the combined total with the ML critical+ on the scales too.

So the critical mainline netted me around 120g. When I grew this strain before it netted me 112g from a very similar sized plant however the mainlining concentrates all the plants efforts into the top growth. I had no small junk on the plant. All really decent sized nuggets.

So although the mainlining hasn't really upped my yield amount it has increased the size of the buds that were left on the plant.

Oh yeah and the added benefit in that it took less that 1hour to trim a 2.5ft tall plant. Lol. Normally around 2hours.

Hope you enjoy.

Next weigh in will be around New Years of the OG and the pineapple.

J
Oh Yeah, that's the spot.

Obviously there's something to be said for this type of growing.
A few crops further on (when my confidence has risen) it's something that I must attempt.

Now I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes with the OG and the Pineapple.

To be honest with you the 3 strains I used responded to it well but they are indica doms with a 60 day or there abouts flowering time.

I think next time I try it I may use just 2 plants and cut for 16 or 32 but I've got some clones lined up for next run.

The one thing that I will do differently is cut at the 5blade rather than the 3 blade like I did.

It has me convinced about mainlining for no other reason than the reduced trimming time.

Trimming is the one single thing I fucking loathe about growing. Lol.

"Cut the 5 blade rather than the 3 blade"???

Not following.
Do the leaf sets change from 3 to 5 blades as they grow at different nodes...???

No, he is referring to the nodes up the trunk.

I think. :0)

JD

Yes correct Javadog.

NoE as a seed grows you initially get cotelydon leaves. The tear drop shape ones.

Then you get single blade leaf

Then the next node up is a 3 blade leaf. Then the next node is a 5, then 7 then you get the idea.

Right.
I'm going to have to really observe how they grow.

Why is it your waiting untill the next node next time?.....if ya don't mind me asking....

it has been discussed and thoughts are 8heads is optimum for indoors and there seems to be no increase in yield from more tops, they just seem to get smaller and more of them.....8 heads also minimalizes the auxin break down creating a better less distributed spread leading to better chunkier nugs... if that makes sense.....

i am curious as to what your thoughts are, or anyone whoose reading on bettering the technique...

for example because mainlining is used for the purpose of keeping plants small, this doesn't allow a user to grow a bigger plant to increase yield and still maintain all of the mainlining benifits (you start to get popcorn bud etc)....im am thinking an 8 head main line......topped and trimmed for 8 heads then left to grow so that branches are at least 12" tall each with multiple shoots.....then each branch is bent at a 90 deg angle creating a flat plant.......

this would allow a user to grow bigger plants to increase yield, it would be less stressful and distribute less auxins then say topping for 32.....

and i think would increase yield
...anyone's thoughts???

It was something I was contemplating.

I haven't read about it other than how to do it and once it was accomplished I didn't have to check the tutorial on trimming lower growth etc.

The reason for the next node up for me was based on your comment about where I topped only being 3 bladed. So I was going to chop at the 5 bladed.

Your thoughts about bending the 8 head over sounds very similar to a technique called CCOB crop circle of bud.

The CCOB is trained from a single node but then transplanted at an angle to fascilitate the bending of the 2 stems from the node around a ring very similar to that used in mainlining.

A guy called HOBBES has a tutorial on here about it.

So I was going to chop at the 5 bladed

This seems very reasonable.

Hobbes has come up recently, where his passage was lamented.

He does seem to have been a prolific dude.

OG KUSH weigh in today.

Clone weighed 18.9g.
image.jpg

Clone + Mainline girl
image.jpg

So 105.9-18.9=87g from the OG mainline.

So far
179.4+105.9=285.3g

285.3g with still the pineapple left to weigh tomorrow or Tuesday. Depends when its dry enough.

I thought I caught a whiff of it from that last photo.....

This is probably a dumb question but
Why do you get so much less from the clones than the plants grown from seeds?
Is it purely a time=size issue?
Do they simply have less time to grow than the 'from seed' monsters???

I'd also be interested in reading your opinion about how your different crops compare when smoked.
A few posters have said that Critical + gives big yield but is a mediocre potency.
Discuss.

Merry Xmas lads been getting baked and to lazy haha, but I pulled my critical out yesterday as it was a male
Fuck na's how when it was a fem pip unless a mixed up potting them. Find out soon enough just started tieing them yesterday all 8 heads each will try get a few pics up today.... very good yeild j lad just onto last of mine then back to shite for a bit haha

Less yield from the clones because they are given at most 2weeks veg from rooting.

I've had this discussion before about critical+ in the UK GROWERS THREAD.

I must just be either really lucky and had the same pheno each time I've grown the critical+ or I'm a lightweight.

When I've posted in the uk thread before its been net with quite alot of hostility.

And talk of how if I'd been a more active guy in there how I could have been growing clone only uk strains like exodus cheese. Lol.

I fucking hate cheese, regardless if the UK threads think they've got the original (most likely GHSco) being passed round.

The critical+ left to flower for 64 days is some of the most potent head fucking weed ive ever smoked.
