Do they have to be fully nationalized? Or is taking them over by removing the CEO, creditors and property owners, instituting his handpicked czar to oversee operations and only taking partial ownership count for anything?

So Obama is a socialist despite being in Wall Street's grip. Let's look at some of the things he has done and compare them to what a socialist would do.

Bailed out Wall Street. The opposite of what a socialist would have done which is to nationalize the financial sector.

Bailed out most of the auto manufacture industry. The opposite of what a socialist would have done which is to nationalize the industry.

Made it mandatory to purchase insurance from private companies. The opposite of what a socialist would have done which is to expand medicare to everyone.

So Obama is a socialist despite being in Wall Street's grip. Let's look at some of the things he has done and compare them to what a socialist would do.

Bailed out Wall Street. The opposite of what a socialist would have done which is to nationalize the financial sector.

Bailouts from the collective's tax receipts. Shared pain for all, reward for the few. GM was the closest thing to a nationalized industry we've had since Amtrak. The auto bailout was a UAW bailout, nothing more. There were vultures circling to pick off GM pieces had they been allowed to go through a normal bankruptcy, but then it would have been by by UAW.

I will agree that Obama does not fit 100% into your definition of a socialist, but you claim him to be right of center, so... there's that. Just curious, who do you consider to be a full-blown socialist?

Do you really believe the president is powerful enough to nationalize our banking system? surely you jest. Just because he didn't doesn't mean he wouldn't if he could.

Are you really that much of a political and historical ignoramus? THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE MARKET ECONOMY. There is nothing "free" about the concept of a free market. Obama did what many republicans would have done in the past.

I was simply asking, on a sliding scale, would you consider Obama to be more toward the socialist end or toward the free market end. It's really that simple of a question, I had no hidden agenda or message, i did not mean anything malicious, just a simple question to see where AC was going put Obama. He is the only person I've heard call Obama right of center, so I posed that question. I stated I feel he's left of center and I assume you would agree with that. Your "scale" is completely asinine and made up. The left and right spectrum is based on where the politicians sat in the French national assembly in relation to the monarchy. Those who supported the monarchy sat to the right of the king, those who supported democracy sat on the left. The left/right scale is based on authoritarianism, when taking into account BOTH social and economic stances. Obama is in no way shape or form on "the left". He is a center right president, and has made clear that he is no friend of the left, he's another neo liberal. Neo-liberalism is still a center right ideology.
