There's also a slight difference with the driver CREE uses. Supposedly it's a low amp, high voltage driver with certain parts most drivers use removed/bypassed. Add in there's 20 of the bad boys on a "Captain Morgan" WW bulb and it's cooling is already there for you making those bulbs hard to beat for the price IMO. But I still really like those arrays, especially if you can find a place that will let you bin them. Cooling is the bitch with those. Gotta keep those junction temps in spec for them to be really useful I would think.

Gawd Beef, I so hate that Exorcist pic you use for an avatar. That's the one part that always scared the shit out of me!

ME TOO!!! I had to download the HD movie, find the part where this face flashed on the screen, then pause the movie do a screen shot, and save it in paint for this avatar! :D

HID users, we already know you are better than us, and your buds are bigger than ours. But there is a first time for everything, and a new beginning at ever end of something old.

HID can eat shit, LED technology has been doubling since the late 70s, but only in the last 3 years has it evolved into something bright enough to grow dense buds. Another reason is people dont follow the advice "the bigger the roots, the bigger the fruits". Check out a few youtube videos by BombyCron42.......There are a shit ton of videos on there i know.....i just like his style of growing, he does a good job of showing what you can do with just a 7 gal pot. and be sure to check out www.dormgrow.com, they have some of the best lights out there and are very comparatively affordable for the power you get!

Glad I found this journal. I have been growing with LED lights for a number of years and have tried most manufacturers. I have given reviews on all I have grown with in the following thread:

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/735337-black-dog-led-true-960w.html

LED's are the way to go but don't believe the manufacturers hype. To replace a 1000W HID you'll need a LED grow light that draws at least 750 true watts from the wall. Here are some pics of my current setup (960 True Watts - 1820 LED Watts):

Hi Guys,
Just a quick note to say I will be starting my first ever grow in the next 1-2 weeks.
I introduced myself here, https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/758-welcome-new-members-993.html#post9732338
I am a total noob and have decided on:
3' x 3' secret jardin tent with the 2nd chamber
2 (two) of the latest Hans LED panels (with the whites) [No light for the 2nd chamber yet, still working on that piece of the puzzle]
TGA Super Soil [shipped from Monroe,NY]
Feminized seeds from Nirvana
The seeds are the limiting step right now (in transit), and plan on having them in a paper towel within one hour of opening up the package.

My inspiration and the main reason I went with these lights is this guy ^^^^^PSUAGRO^^^^^^ as I saw what he was able to do.
I hope to document the grow well, but will wait for the seedlings to be in 1 gallon containers before I stick my neck out here.
Thanks to all the LED guys here, and I hope you can gain some knowledge from my attempt, and keep a lookout for me.

thanks, GD, yes. Will not be putting seedlings in super soil. Plan is germinate and then into 1 gallon pots with either Roots Organic, TGA base soil, or 50/50 Roots organic/base TGA. ( I am not sure it makes a difference.)Plan is to transplant into 5 or 7 gallon pots with the supersoil, under a layer/mixed with base, at 2-3 weeks.

Here's a cool little piece about the "future of weed" that was filmed in Colorado.
Around the 23:30 mark, they have a segment about Radiant LED's, which I found interesting.
I know the Radiant's cost an arm and a leg, but it's still fun to see where the industry is headed.
Enjoy.

What are they claiming as PAR readings for their units. I can find nothing on them.

EDIT: I found the numbers on their 750. Much weaker than Apachetech.

Talking about radiant led........has anyone heard anything about their consumer panels releasing? Last I heard was this January and the beta has been in full swing since September.

Are they still putting out a cannabis specific fixture? Idk........I've gotten zero responses from them, just seeing if anyone else knows anything.......don't wanna ask one shot:-P
