Based on this thread, I decarbed and hand-pressed some Vortex ice water hash last night. It tastes, smells, and hits so much better it's crazy.

Spread the word my friend, traditions are worth learning.
Vortex Hash is one of my favorite, it got a kick like nothing I experienced outside my Nebula Hash

You Rock Frenchy!

Had a great time watching the hash making movie! I have always enjoyed French films hehe

The tip about the washing machines is so cool - you are definitely a knight of the nerd table :)

Cheers,
Mo

I just needed to thank u again frenchy...because of what I've learned here a couple local growers are giving their trim to me to make hash..I let em try my hand press and they liked it...like me they were strangers to hash...one guy just gave me abt a pound of Critical Kush trim loaded w resin..he grows for profit and doesn't really care abt the trim...but because he grows for profit he let's his plants go a long time...is say 50/50 amber cloudy and this trim is mostly amber...does this matter for making hash or does the maturity of the resin matter?

nice deal vega. I would say that age of the trichs do matter. Like what french said, you get out what you put in (in most cases if its fire your going to get fire)

I think the amber trichs give you a more couch lock high rather speedier mind high. Also will affect the color of the hash. (will be darker do to amber color)

Where frenchys knowledge would really come in handy is that... Will a higher percentage of amber trichs affect the way the hash will press. Will it have a different consistently, texture...?

I am very happy for you and do not worry overly about the ripeness of the trichomes as long as the resin is not overripe and degrading. Make sure to wash well your catch bag because you will have potentially bigger than average trichomes (120 and over), at that level of ripeness you have a very strong knock you out medicine.
All the best

Thanks...the only equipment I have is a small kief box....it works well but is only good for abt an eighth of trim at a time...which is fine no hurry and it'll def give me an opportunity to practice....and no its not "overripe"...I smoke his weed all the time and its really nice...more on the couchlock side...should be some awesome hash...thanks again guys ill update what I end up w.

Mmmmmmmmm chocolate! Hey Frenchy - is that hash you made from Platinum Kush trichromes or is it from a strain called Pinot Noir?

I made some IWE from Malawi and the trichromes are very waxy. Have you ever made hash from Malawi?

Cheers,
Mo

P.S. - Thanks for the killer movie - watched it in HD and I felt like I was there :) Great Job T!
