I think if a ban (highly doubtful) happens, as soon as people see it on the news there will be a riot outside before the cops get to do anything. I think the government knows this too.

"Assault rifle" is a legitimate term of the soldier's art.
"Assault weapon" is a chimera devised by journalists.
And perhaps allow the customer to determine if a given gun meets a defensive need. Typically the military choose their weapons for utility, and that sets the baseline for civilian utility. Jmo. cn

I ancient Japan they lived very close together & had a real problem with fires. If a fire got started in one house it would quickly spread & usually burned the whole town down.
