I only count 9 here :P So we all get this straight (I know, I'm totally a learn by example kinda guy which is why I love W.O.H), the oils listed are:

- Lavender
- Lemon Grass
- Eucalyptus Galonulus
- Rosemary
- Tree Tea
- L???
- Sweet Orange
- Ylang Ylang
- Bregamo???

Sorry for the butchering, but the flash wasn't helping my cause. :)

Edited:

Would this be the perfect set to get?
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
Lime (Citrus aurantifolia)

I like the Pines and Tea-trees for the disinfectant like smells. Others may prefer a more floral bouquet. or Citrus or Spice/musk. I just bought a set that was on an internet special offer. ... I would suggest purchasing through a 'trusted' looking place. You don't want them selling you Lemon juice when you want Lemon oil.

oh, I must have misplaced the other bottle, Its not with my others.

edit:
I dont know if its the perfect set. There are so many. They all seem to mask weed pretty effectively.

Anyone ever try fabric softener liquid to recharge ona gel crystals? I was thinking of trying it when I run out of ona liquid unless its been done and doesn't work well. Any thoughts or experience?
It may work. My instincts tell me that the 'stuff' in the fabric conditioner would dry to a crud within a couple of days when exposed to air.

Ona dont like to tell people what their active ingredient is but I did find a place where they call it 'Essential oil technology'. hmmmm. right.

Ive been asked for some advice re choosing a clone, heres my quick guide.

Heres the plant im cloning. It has 6 branches. The 2nd picture is the plant in diagram form.

Now I could take a clone from the bottom branch here but I wont. ... If I do that branch will die because there is no more growth below.

What I want to do is select the top branch and make my cutting about 2cm below a node.

The clone ends up being about 5" long. ... IMO anything between 4" and 6" is perfect for 2L Hempys. ... If you want a clone to keep as a Mom up to 8" is ok.

On the diagram you can see the branch I cloned and where I cut. Notice I left a set of nodes below the cut, this means the branch will not die and new growth will shoot out from the remaining nodes.

Anything you unsure of just PM me. Apologies for my poor paint skills.

edit:

Oh after taking the cutting, just remove all the leaves on the stem and just leave the top growing tip plus a few fan leaves to get it started............ Dip the end in a root hormone gel.

Also... Try making your cut at a 45 degree / diagonal angle. This will provide maximum surface area for the roots to shoot from.

What do you guys do to prep coco for your hempy buckets? Do you soak in PH water? Add some cal mag?

Do you put perlite in the bottom or run straight coco?

i have a brick of it sitting around so I figure I should use it. Thanks!

Thanks moebius. I'm scared to make cuts too long cause I'm scared it will not grow back so ill end up with a retarded looking group of plants. Will cloning help the plant explode in growth?

The only real way to master it, is to just start doing it. ... Everyone is apprehensive at first, after all, you paid good money to get your plant to this height. But you shouldn't worry. The fact is you may make some mistakes but this is precisely how you'll learn.

A couple more tips.
  • Its important to have an idea in your head of how you want your Moms to look like. Remember your NOT growing bud with these, your growing branches.
  • Try to keep the Mom symmetrical when you take a cut. Every cut you make will change the shape of the Mom, by cutting, light now reaches the lower branches, try to keep an even, flat, canopy, so light hits the plant at the same level.

I just made this diagram, its makes sense in my head, maybe not anyone else :!: It shows the ideal basic shape to keep a mom. You'll be wanting to go for the BOX shaped mom.

Johnny, I dont do CoCo so I should let those guys speak on this. I think further back there may be some info. I do know of a few that add perlite to the base. As for cal-mag from the start (hmmm not sure I would)

If I were doing it, I would put a bit of Perlite in the res (???prevent soggy compacted coco???) and I would just soak coco in 1/4 feed.

my first time using coco so idk the the perfect prep but i soaked my bricks for 24 hours, filled the bottle to 3" with perlite and topped up with coco, i flushed the coco and the perlite at the same time,in the bath with the shower head. I only flushed until the water ran out relatively clear. I just add nutes with every feed rather tan charging the mix up, beware of deficiencies though, they suffer quickly which i found out straight away, i came from soil and forgot all about compensating for the lack of nutes, i rarely fed any nutes in the first 2 weeks with soil

I have to tell you, I researched a lot and went straight to the good stuff, Canna Coco, straight from the bag...no prep needed, pre-buffered, soft and fluffy with uniform consistency...but I pay for it @≈$30 per 50L bag at the grow shops. I see it for $20 online however. It is "instant gratification" with guaranteed results if that is important to you. Bricks are obviously less expensive but prep time was a factor for me. Seems to be a lot of flack out there about impurities with other brands too (sea salt kills plants). I run larger buckets instead of 2L so I can't speak with experience there. I do use the chunky #3 perlite in the bottom for a little extra fluid in the res but doubt it's a big factor. One thing we will have in common, you will need Cal/Mg from day 1. Just the normal dose from your brand's instructions and I wouldn't pre-soak in it, just add when feeding time comes. CaliMagic from GH is 5ml per gal. It's a harmless no-brainer addition but necessary to keep things green. I wish you success, it's a dynamite grow medium with properties that are too good not to try. You just might be stuck with hempy and coco for life.

Well hempy brothers, it's hard not to say this mapito is a dynamite grow medium so far. Plant growth is exploding like my past coco grows with just a slight adjustment to watering. With my gravity feed and watering rings (halo's) I noticed that the fast shower of nutes fills the res to overflow almost instantly without really saturating the upper levels. Coco was more forgiving there with slower water migration downward. I turned my ball valve on the feed bucket half way off to slow the rush of downward flow to the halo's and got better results with less run-off at the hole. By the way, there is another company offering free samples of mapito for only the cost of shipping.

Here's the G13 Pineapple Express exactly 1 week into 12/12 under the HPS after leaving the T5's veg lamps for 30days. The pic on the left is day one 12/12, the two on the right are today. I hope Santa Claus brings me a new camera. After my last kayak flip-over it doesn't focus well and colors look yellow with flash...geez. Note the base stems are 1/2' wide now (same size as the water feed tubing). The rapid rooter is about to split open.

yeah johnny the canna in bags is the shit! the only advantage bricks have for me is stealth and just a few blocks will go a long way and fit in a bag for transporting, i dont like going into the garden center for the bags in the winter lol, and the couriers dont wrap em up when you get a few bags but the blocks are wrapped up well i found

Thanks for the help on this, I had a brick of general hydroponics coco figuring it should be decent. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I've got a lot going on with perlite buckets, perlite and turface buckets, a couple dwc buckets, and finishing up with some soil grows. I'll try coco in the 2 liters and will do a couple 3 gallon hempys too. I'm looking for "my grow style" so between all these options I've got going I should find it soon. Really like hempy so far, will be running these with osmocote plus and see how it goes

thanks mo. i think i did a alright job with the cutting getting task. i think i might have made some a bit small. (2inches) what will happen to those that are that small? okay so i got my massive cloner. ezclone 120 site. didnt expect it to be the size of a small coffin. i cut cuttings in 45 degree angle then split the stem a bit then dipped in gel. hydro store owner friend said gel is better for aeroponic cloners. idk. i put half my crop into the cloners just to test it out to see if any will wilt. some wilted at first but then got better. i mist the shit out of them when i was at the growhouse. ill be gone for 12 hrs so i hope they can stay legit until i get back to them.

so i mist and keep them healthy for 5-7 days to see roots. then i hit the rez with 1.1 ml per gallon of root excelurator. then keep them in cloner for another 2 weeks until roots get beard looking? do clones hit rez faster in hempy then seeds? will i be able to get a good sized mother in a month and a half to get clones from too?

thanks
