Are you saying she should consider her self lucky that this wealthy "American" lets her sleep on his floor?

Would he pay less if that person came from say Nigeria?
Restricting work permits for abroad worker will starve their families not ours.

True, but it limits my bottom line at the end of the year.

If I could get a housekeeper from Nigeria for 50% less that would be good for my wallet. Selfish Filipinos.....

Or better yet we mandate no salary positions, minimum wage requirements, so your local meth addict from McDonald has a contingency plan I am sure he wont neglect your kids. It's so much easier being critical than correct. There never will be a utopia, it's quite possible to starve a 1000 by feeding one.

It's much harder to do what is right, then what is convenient.

You are right about starving 1000's, look how Big Energy has you believing they are paying there fair share of Income Tax without putting a penny to National Defense, that burden falls on the maid, sleeping on the floor.

My wife says your tagalog sucks donkey balls is very racist and you are a piece of shit
I shall let her write you back in a langauge you have previously mangled

My exwife is a nanny. She doesn't make shit. She got $35 a day from one family for one kid and gets like $150 a week for 10 hour days watching 3 kids.... that was her idea of getting a job.

We get GMA & TFC on tv, It's really sad to see the "middle class" housing as the tv stars dance down the street handing out cans of Coke & bottled water.

So telling you that bending reality to suit your own agenda is racist huh?

It sounds like your wife only got half the conversation, I in no way said anything derogatory only that it's damn hard there and going abroad is the best alternative and is encouraged. American slave labor is a bit dramatic don't you think? It's a job she doesn't have to work being a yaya but it possible the family paid for the visa and transportation which is no way cheap but it didn't make it in the article. Ask her what she thinks the impact would be with more regulation towards work visa's? The fact is the OP is bullshit and you know it. Anyone working a salary position can make under state minimum wage requirements it's the nature of the beast. I have fallen into that trap myself.

The fact is you advocate for near slave like conditions because you think anyone should be grateful to even have a job. When the fact is even by standards of her country of origin the woman in the OP was getting paid less than she would of been back in her home country. And no, it is not unusual as the Original Post points out it is happening in more than 2/3rds of cases investigated.

Here is another fact. You are a bullshit piece of crap racist and you know it. You are also a liar as your attempt at tagalog is less than rudimentary shows

The UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment did a study on domestic workers, and produced unequivocal results. Here are just a few:
Of the overwhelmingly (93 percent) female workforce, 90 percent failed to receive overtime pay.
96 percent of child care workers and nearly 93 percent of maids and housekeepers reported that their meal breaks were cut short, interrupted, or simply not provided.
Nearly 75 percent of child care workers and 35 percent of maids and housekeepers in Los Angeles County were paid at an hourly rate lower than the minimum wage.

You're correct chesus we should highly regulate all work visa's and make minimum wage a requirement(no contracts). This would actually increase the domestic job opportunities here and boost our* economy in the process. Carry on that utopia is slipping.

Wow, I didn't realise that the people owned the housekeepers as slavez and kept them there under lock and chain. <-<<(Sarc)

Those people are exercising their right to work wherever they want, why do you hate freedom?

He is so full of shit it isn't even funny, I can post tons of yaya positions in the Philippines that range 40 to 100 dollars US a month(highest end). Most in house maids/nannies get paid shit here nationality has nothing to do with it.

No need for a lock and chain
You bring them to a foreign country
-isolate them
-work them
-never pay them or pay them just enough where they cannot save any money
-threaten to throw them out into the street with no money and no way home in a said foreign country
-oh and it helps if you tell them the local cops will believe anything you say

By Alvin Elchico, ABS-CBN News – The Philippines has the highest wages for workers among third world countries in Asia, according to the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP).This after President Aquino shot down proposals for a P125 across-the-board wage increase during his Labor Day speech.
Data from ECOP showed that the minimum daily wage in Metro Manila stands at almost $10 a day compared to $2.20 in Vietnam, $2 in Cambodia, $2.90-$3.00 in Indonesia,$5.20-$5.90 in Thailand and $3.75-$5.00 in China.
ECOP president Ed Lacson said in a globalized economy, if labor is expensive, exported products and the manufacturing sector will lose.
Asked if the P426 daily mininum wage would be enough for the expenses of a family of 6, Lacson said the assumption is there are more than one employed family member so the daily wage is augmented.
ECOP earlier said it will push for around P8 hike in daily wages but will follow whatever is approved by the wage board.
