Colorados Amendment 64? - The Official Post

I am a law abiding Colorado citizen. I have been trying to understand the new laws that will be signed in by the governor within the next week. I am not interested in breaking the law whatsoever so I am starting this post. As far as I can understand thus far, I will be able to grow 6 plants for myself and give up to an ounce away to family or friends who cannot grow their own. My first question is: Can my specific county tell me I cannot grow my 6 personal plants in a locked space? Lets get this conversation started. I've always wanted to be able to grow a personal stash but again if my state won't even back me up then I'm not doing it. I know the fed just wants to hand me a bottle of 151, a pack of smokes...and say have fun.

If that is the law then the feds wont fuck with you.
If you plan on exceeding that I am sure the Feds would be interested

What a great law you guys got passed. Congradulations. It should be like that in all 50 states

Thanks for the vote of confidence. That's what us good guys who just want to grow their own need. It has been very difficult over the years with herb having such a bad rep. The people who hate it have very little experience with it. But an idiot would quickly say they would rather have their child addicted to alcohol than herbs.

Can any Colorado residents chime in on this county thing? In reading I see my county is against it. This is extremely confusing to me. I am not at all wanting to think something is ok but then find out it is not. My wife doesn't have anything to do with herb so if it's not fully ok for us to grow 6 plants I don't want to do it. I understand the feds still say no but if they really want to go after a normal tax paying citizen with a career and family who is doing something NORMAL that his state supports...

If it is state law your county really cannot do shit except pass an ordinance. And I know most states a county ordinance cannot go against state law.

I really don't care about selling it as I am not going to be doing any of that. In fact I have the money to fully respect my neighbors by setting up a proper grow space that does not stink up the entire neighborhood. This is great news if my county cannot come down on me! I believe my first grow ever will be starting within the next week. This is almost 30 years in the making and I can't wait to start my new therapeutic hobby. Stay tuned for first grow journal...

Hmm, you make a good point. I'm a private person and I shouldn't have to go on forums like this a post journals putting it in everyone's face. I do however need advice as I am a first time grower. I was planning on using the forum to get advice just like I'm trying to get advice on this new amendment.

I really don't understand the negativity about posting journals and pics. It SHOULD be in everyone's face. More people should get used to the idea and understand that Cannabis is harmless. Cannabis prohibition is deadly. Wait until the law goes into effect. They will have a hotline set up for questions just like yours. Don't jump the gun. Colorado is being anal about this. You can still get busted until the law kicks in. After that, grow your six plants and enjoy. In New Mexico we can have up to twelve. 4 in flower, 4 in veg, and 4 sprouts. I've been posting my pics on here since 2010 and am compliant with state law. I don't feel I have anything to worry about.

Not trying to burst anyone's bubble, but here is the point blank straight up answer. I live in NY and have been pushing for the legalization of marijuana here since my father was diagnosed with MD 10 years ago. It does not matter what your individual states laws are, because if the feds want to come in and shut you down they have that right. Persons who are in the business of cultivating, selling, or distributing marijuana, and those who knowingly facilitate such activities, are in violation of Federal law, and are subject to Federal enforcement action, including potential prosecution. The DOJ guidelines do not legalize marijuana. The DOJ guidance explicitly states that marijuana remains illegal under Federal law. Enforcing Federal law against significant traffickers in illegal drugs including marijuana remains a core Department of Justice priority. Here is a link to the Office of Nation Drug Control Policy http://www.whitehouse.gov/ondcp/federal-laws-pertaining-to-marijuana "We have sponsored legislation at the federal level to remove criminal penalties for the use of marijuana because of our belief in individual freedom," Frank and Paul wrote in a letter to Obama. "We recognize that this has not yet become national policy, but we believe there are many strong reasons for your administration to allow the states of Colorado and Washington to set the policies they believe appropriate in this regard, without the federal government overriding the choices made by the voters of these states."

Bet that letter got no reply.

The fact that the Federal sword still hangs over every legal State means that those who are keeping weed in the public's awareness despite the prison/industrial complex's stubbornness in demonizing it ... are assuming quite a risk for that awareness-raising and are to be regarded as heroes. Actually New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo Is for the legalization of Medical Marijuana and his staff has sent a reply to my letter, it has even passed in our state assembly. Granted it is still a ways away from passing and it does not have anything to do with recreational legalization, but it is a step in the right direction.

From my understanding....President stated in his first term he is not using his resources for conviction of Ma Check the Denver Post, I also live here yet I have a card which in turn will soon be useless, yet I am in the midst of my first grow (durban). It is stated that as long as it is in a locked space you are fine,if you are abiding by local laws you are fine, I do not believe the DEA will take you into custody over six plants it is a waste of resources, hence the whole legalization for recreational use. I have done tons of reesearch over the past few weeks and i dont feel there is nothing to worry about if you follow the rules, also it has been stated that you can keep your harvest also considering 6 plants in a proper grow is well over 1 oz. If you find anymore information let it be heard as will I. On face book look up Dont Hate Cultivate, and the 12-1 Army of Cannabis !! Good luck !!

I hear you carne seca! Thanks for the info meast007! You are both inspirational. All this shit about the fed...It's my belief the DEA will go after large scale growers/distributors... As they should in my opinion. I say this because fuck the cartels and if you are so concerned with gonja money you may very well be dealing with them. To any cop that thinks they are out of a job because we can now smoke is crazy. Go after the blow, meth, smack and other shit you should have been focusing on all these years. DOWN WITH BLOW!
