And why are you will referring to this guy who thought it was ok as a friend? If my friend laughed and told me not to do anything they lose my friendship.

wow. so because i had a failure in my judgement, i deserve to be beat by a man? no. and i will never forgive myself. so stfu
Harness your shame and channel it into righteous rage. There will be a next time. Have a plan that involves you stepping in. Channel that shame into rage that yields ... courage. Have a plan. cn

did everyone miss the part where lots of people have died there? and that where im from getting involved can put you in serious fucking danger?
He didnt touch the baby.
Whatever. I admitted that i was wrong and I will never forgive myself. What else do you want from me?
Risking one's life for another innocent is what seperates the men from the boys imo.

Seeing as you're not either, i would've suggested a phone call.

thank you. You dont understand what it feels like as a woman to watch that and know you should do something. but you dont. as quick as it started it was over and out of sight. And i got mad at my friend for laughing, he's like its not ok to hit a girl but i know that guy and he's my neighbor blah blah blah excuses and it made me feel like shit

I know what it feels like as a man to puss out, and it can be no nicer than what you experienced. I know much about shame and how it eats the spirit. I am grateful that you are feeling shame/guilt, because it means you know what's right and wrong. But please consider this: that woman is in a Hell of assured beatings, and in time he will probably kill or maim her. Not much you can do now ... except psych yourself up for the next time. You have an imposing physical presence, and I'll bet you could sumo his ass. Friends standing by with vid recorders won't hold you safe, but they'll ensure that you'll give worse than you got. Jmo. cn

Watching is not participation. Let's just make that VERY clear.
good story for you.. a cop was buddy buddy with a wife beater and showed up on scene to settle the issue, he let him go and the wife went to go get a pfa. the cop got involved and persuaded the judge not to grant the lady a pfa.. protection from abuse, the lady walked out of the courthouse and got shot 6 times in the stomach.. she was pregnant

doesn't make it ok though
Doesn't make it actively participating either.

Scenario:

Two men witness this beating as described above. One watches it while the other acts to defend the victim (whether successful or not). The one that acts is a hero at heart. The one that doesn't is a pussy. Don't mean he's culpable though.
