yea thats the problem with not making the hole quite the right size...it will get clogged but a simple widing will take care of this...if you dont have a mesh screen you can use an old white shirt with a section cut to cover the hole.....peace az

OK... after reading this entire thread... I have to admit... I'm intrigued and want to give it a try. I just built a bubbleponics type system so I'll try both.

Most everyone in this thread is reporting using Perlite.... I'd like to use Coco Coir.... I have a huge block of it and I've started my seeds in it and it's really great stuff. It is PH neutral and has enough food in it that no nutes are needed in the seedling stage.

I also already have the Monkey Juice (made especially for coco coir) nutes for Veg and Bloom.... so it just makes sense to go this way.

Can anyone here report about using this type of medium vs. Perlite? I really like the Coco Coir (actually the block I have is Sunleaves Coir)... anyway... I'd love to see some posts from people who've used this medium.

I have Hydroton (sp?) clay pebbles so I could put those in the bottom or maybe half of the container... any thoughts?

Seems i stopped by just at the right moment!

well, my first grow went tits up, (over nuted, under nuted, acid bathed, and salt attacked my plants and they didnt like it - then to top it off i got spider mite!)

So anyway, i have 4 more plants in soil now, but i have my 4 pot recirculating bubbler sitting doing nothing.

my 4 pots are 20L each, and i have a seperate res.

The plan is to get rid of all my pumps etc, and fill all my buckets with coco (i got a good deal from a mate £10 for 100L!) and do a kind of "bigger" scale Hempy bucket kind of thing.

I took a clone from one of my hydro plants when at their healthiest, and stuck it in a hempy bucket thing i made and its fookin brilliant, cleanest whitest biggest root ball ive seen for the plant size and the leaves are in fantastic condition.

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this?

will coco work in a hempy bucket setup?

Any input appreciated,

thanks!

I posted the above in its own thread then came to find this one - a bit backwards i know!
If any mods wanna remove my earlier thread thats cool!

Im deffo gonna do this, just gotta find some trays or something for the over flow cus 20L buckets are BIG!

Unfortunatly I CANT POST PICTURES my GF said that is she saw pictures of my grow on the internet she'd feed my plants bleach.
Shes nervous about it all, and quite rightly so. This ganja we all know and love looks like its gonna be reclassified in the UK back to class B. Not Good.

ok help me out with this sog stuff, I have 4 plants that I put on 12/12 10 days ago, they just showed female parts today.... all 4 of them, if I want to get a sog operation going, should I revert them to veg?? or just take a clone from each??? I dont totally understand how this works but I want to try.... all help appreciated..... oh or both take a clone and refert to veg??
Hey BigD

YES - you can clone in 12/12, I just did it a week or so ago and it worked great.

What you don't want to do is revert those ladies back to veg - the stress can cause them to go hermy.

So just take the clones and out of those, choose a mother or two...

Here's a link with plenty of seasoned growing vets that agree on cloning in 12/12... https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/60631-i-cloned-12-12-look.html

I can't believe it....I just can't believe it. Yesterday Esmerelda and Princess Consuela were all droopy (I have pics in my journal). Yesterday I went and took E's 3 strongest branches and tried to clone them, I removed some of the dead or almost dead branched, and I dug her up, cleaned as much soil off her roots as I could and transplanted her into a Hempy Bucket.

Today...The cuttings are doing as well as I'd expect them to, but the fucked up part of all of this: Esmerelda only has 1 branch left that's still drooping.

I don't care what happened or why it did, but today I have class from 1-3:30, immediately after I'm going and getting another bucket and some more perlite and transplanting Princess Consuela.

I'm going to shower then post pics in my journal.

Another question, when using 100% perlite doing a HB does that cut down on the pests you get from soil based grows ?? Also whats a good pest control/killer

I had the same problem at first, it really is as simple as it sounds, get a bucket, make a hole 1.5" from the bottom, add perlite, add plant, fill the rest with perlite, and you are set to go, I took 4 seedlings from my AG and put them in hempy buckets, they are all in flowering now, look on the first couple pages of this thread there are pics of how to set it up

Hey BigD - you'll want to put them under low level lighting and let them take root before giving them your 12/12 HID lighting. And oh, a little bit of vegging would be great, but most people just put their clone right to work after they see the root system as developed.

I personally let my clones veg until they have been LSTed (and now FIMed) and they are basically bushes, about 2/3 weeks, before I start to flower them. :weed:
