My First Real Grow Thread! Socal Style!

just got my nutes and fed the girls. i gave each of the big ones 2gals each, and the small ones 1gal each. i fed at 1/3 recommended dose
 
So when I go to get a T5 light do i just get it with the grow bulbs. Apparently they come mixed with grow bulbs and bloom bulbs or you can get them with either kind of bulbs. Kinda confused lol!
 
are the T5's for veg only?? Then grow bulbs ( blue spectrum).. if you might dual purpose the light.. then why not mix em .. so guess it depends on the intended use of the light
 
I've read that not to spend extra money on the legit "grow bulbs/spectrum" common Cool white is the spectrum you want. I read that they put out a better spectrum than the exspensive grow bulbs. ?????? just what I read.
 
Yeah, me too. At $10 a fixture, and $1 a bulb, that's decent. I priced the T5 set-up, $40-$50 a fixture and $7-$8 a bulb. For me it's a no brainer. I mean is it 7 times (or so) better?

i wouldnt recommend buying it from a grow store. just go to lowes and get one. it will probably be cheaper
 
There is a WORLD of difference between HomeDepot's T-5's (27w IIRC) and T-5 HO (55w). just saying before you go to Home Depot.. Ive never seen a T5 HO fixture at Homedepot or Lowes

i saw the second leak. Whats the difference between it and a 4 foot and 4 tube light t5? Compared to that one its 2 foot. So just would not cover as much?


I was looking at these 4 foot and 4 tube ones. Idk if its any less powerfull then the one you showed tyler? Thanks
 
Standard t5's from home depot are 27w bulbs if your lucky.. a t5 HO grow fixture has 55 watt bulbs.. the home depot t5's are NOT the same as t5 HO's from a hydro or grow store

Notice it puts out 20,000 lumens..

A home depot t5 setup .. exact same measurements 4 ft 4 bulb fixture will put out HALF if not less.. because each bulb in a standard t5 fixture is only 27 watts.. a HOT5 has 55 watt bulbs. U cannot run t5 HO bulbs in a STANDARD t5 fixture.
Just wanna make sure you guys know that when you buy a fixture at home depot that appears much cheaper.. its for a reason.. your getting HALF the output in the same area..
 
Yea i understand get the good light from the hydro store i could see a difference between the mine in the garage compared to the real t5's! haha. Maybe we can all roll to the hydro store when i am ready to get a T5 and some other goodies like ballast and light for the hps. I already got a MH bulb and 1000 watt ballast. just need the tent and hood.
 
alotaball, do u have any links to info on high output bulbs? what makes them different? r they simply higher wattage bulbs? or do they work different somehow?

you can get 50 + watt t 5 4 ft fixtures at the HD ? Just check the wattage on the box.

Well a standard t5 bulb puts out something like 2900 lumens.. as opposed to a HO T5 bulb which puts out 5000 per a bulb... The ballast in the fixture can only run the t5 its designed for .. similiar to trying to run a 1000 watt bulb on a 400 watt ballast.

So in order to use the HO t5 bulbs that offer more lumens in the same size area you need a compatible fixture .. IMO standard t5 bulbs dont offer enough lumens in the area they take up to do any serious veg.. If ya get what im saying..
