No you're completely right, after looking more and more at the Gotham website I am realizing I will need closer to Irishboys 720w set up than the 360w I had originally estimated. I think I might add a Blackstar 240 and dim my ballast depending on the weather until I can add a Blackstar 600 to finish the full replacement. I am by no means trying to get anywhere near Irishboys numbers, he seems to be on a whole 'nother level using LEDs. My only goal is to reduce my monthly maintenance and retain my dense buds, if I can do better then that's a bonus :weed: I grow for myself, my wife and a few friends so high yield is not my priority, only quality :leaf:
Well I think that for someone just looking for personal meds the set up I'm running is gonna provide more than enough which is 360W of actual power draw (714W max rating). Irish is running DOUBLE the power I am but he gets his panels for free.....lucky bastard :-)

LedBudGuy ran five ISIS-170's over a 24sq ft area with short little plants and pulled just over 27 zips. His journal is on this forum. The ISIS pull about 110W each so that yield was off 550watts  He is running an additional panel this time over the same area and taller plants so will be very interesting to see if the yield goes up or if the plants he ran last time were the penetration limit for those panels. Either way that translates to a yield of about 21 oz for 16 sq ft (4x4) and I'm kinda hoping to see someone try a four light ISIS set up in a 4x4 reflective tent with CO2 and see what kind of numbers they put up......

You know what I would like to see a all Kessil grow just nothing but Kessils ?? just cramming your tent with them from all different angles that would be crazy! LedBudGuy is really kicking some ass in veg right now with those ISIS panels man... I want to see him top his last yield this run though its gonna be interesting oh the anticipation!!!

I think running a Blackstar 240 with a Blackstar 600 would be more cost efficient than 5 Kessils, but I too would like to see a full Kessil grow.

My grow is currently set up as a perpetual grow. Beginning next month I will be harvesting one to two plants every other week, instead of 6 to 10 plants every 8 to 9 weeks or so. My goal is to get between 2 to 3 ounces per plant in a 3 gallon smart pot.

Holy crap! I've seen you guys talk about the Kessil's, but that's the first I actually seen 'em! Niice. I like the light mover.. led's on a sun circle. :D

Something tells me they ain't cheap either. :p

That sounds very realistic in a plant that grows to that pot size.

I just recently started using those pots and expecting to chop a Pineapple Express and Sharksbreath the first week of March. Both were vegged for just over 9 weeks, so I'm hoping to get pretty close to my goal.

I want to see a Blackstar grow, a Kessil grow and a Pro-Grow (Hydroponics Hut) grow....all exclusive. Kessil is bright as hell but it just totally reminds me of my LED mechanics flashlight and I want to know what 36 watts can produce. Viagro grew with Kessil but he's not into numbers so waiting on someone else. If I win the lottery am I gonna run one hell of a sidexsidexsidexside lol

Well I'm due to come down about the same time......9 weeks of veg.....those must be some big plants

Just ordered my first LED and i went with the 357 Magnum. From what i have gathered here they are pretty good. Im gonna run it with 2 600W HPS bulbs in the winter. In the summer im getting a second LED with just 1 HPS 600. I do 30 plants at a time in two Soma grow beds in an all organic soil and feeding program. Right now i have Somango and Heavy Duty Fruity going. Really hoping the LEDs are worth the money and do what they say. What can people tell me about the 357 Magnum?

When you have foliage this thick you're gonna get some popcorn no matter what. Light can only get through so much leaf :-) I ran 1000's for many years and I trimmed a lot of popcorn.

Gonna let them just rock anyway and the amount of popcorn should be pretty minimal.

1000w replacements? I don't smoke rock....lol I think they could take a run at 600's maybe but its the last couple weeks that will tell so I shouldn't open my mouth too early :o

Im pretty sure the 357 magnum can not replace a 1000watt hps......i was just being sarcastic.....quoting the website of course, and their bogus claims

ok guys i have a question about the kessil lights which ones do you reccomend for veg /flowering i would like to switch my entire grow to led i would think the blue would be best for veg and red for flowering but am not sure and really don't want to spend any time or more importantly $ on the wrong ones
any input in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated
thanx in advance

The Red is meant as a "booster" for flowering, not as a sole light source. The Magenta is reccomended as a pure flower light and purple for full cycle. IMHO you can get away with supplementing blue spectra with cfls in vegg with the Magenta. Have not actually done it but have done the equivalent with other LEDs.

thanks ranger,so the magenta for flowering. but what do you mean for full cycle on the purple i run two rooms one veg one flower and will not be switching my lights between them so is purple or blue best for strictly veg?

I just got a 240W Blackstar from Gotham Hydro- 3w cree leds 60 degree..supposed to get much better penetration. Currently using 2 90W ufos ( 1 w) in vewg, coming up on week four since planting seeds. Planning on adding the blackstar to the mix a week before starting flower. Curently doing LST in veg and accidentally topped one- right above second node- so now have 4 primary tops oin that widow. I accidentally cracked ( aka supercropped) a carmelicious and its turning into a bushy beast ..I guess accidents can be good. My journal will detail the grow as it progresses, but have to say the new Blackstar is bright as hell.

Blue for stricly veg on the Kessils but I would go with a good conventional LED vegg panel or T5s for a vegg room because they do a great job and cost much less. Magenta for flower room.

They asked me for feedback when I bought the lights and I told them that pretty much everything I looked into panned out with their company and I really like their history (ISIS) and I liked their knowledge and customer service when I phoned but I freaking hate the reference to 1000W and think it's complete crap and ruins credibility. I'll pass on the link to this forum and see if that can convince their marketing guy/department to cater to the informed consumer instead of mass marketing to idiots :-)
