I've never grown one but got a UFO from attitude, so with the decreased growth time does it make sense to fim a auto flower??

It will work out just fine.

Try Uncle Ben's method to get 4 main colas.

One snip does the trick!

nah, #1) autos life only takes 60-70 days from seed so you wouldnt want to shock them being that theres less time to rebound
#2) They sex and start flowering within the first two weeks (do you top your budding plants...no) more shock
#3) they are geneticlally made to flower quickly and effeciently BUT all the energy is supposed to be for one main cola- topping will gove you 2-4 colas and the plant will direct less energy at her main cola and will decrease your yield from your cola and the other branching stalks
4) under good circumstances ive seen them grow huge with no need to top or anything, mine are approaching 2ft
just some reasons y i wouldnt train them, check out my grow to see how they lookin

Maybe worth experimenting these methods on one of your plants. I have yet to see any FIMd autos. Was just a guess on my end!

I just ran an experiment on this for the specific reason to find out what does better. I FIMed one and let the other just do its own thing. Yes, the FIMed one has a couple main colas but its nowhere near the weight that the regular one has. FIMming seemed to really stress is to the point where there was hardly any growth for a week. I would say the best thing is either a little bit of LST or just let em be. I've heard that a lot of autos don't react well to trims so make sure you research the strain before you make a decision.

I have an issue with rule #2 and I've never had an auto flower or show sex in two weeks from seed. Act time for me is week4-6 veg and then actual flowering 6-7 week from seed. And I've grown many different auto strains, pot size is a huge factor. (I know this is an old thread. It I had to put hat in)

I think there is still a lot of mystery/myth with autos. My avatar is an auto that was topped and lst'd.

I FIM and train all my autos and grow in 5 gal most times; making my harvest usually 14 weeks from seed lol so yeah lots of myths and all descends on strain and breeder
