Seeds from the 70s

So i was just looking for some pencil lead in my dads desk and i come across about 40 pot seeds. Now my dad no longer smokes green but he did back in his glory days. I was wondering if i could grow these seeds as some of them are nice and brown, very healthy looking. I'm thinking about bringing back some old school strains?

sounds like a good idea to me, im pretty sure seeds can last forever, kept in the right environment [low humidity]. so id go for it dude

The shelf life of Marijuana seeds is not indefinite and everybody knows that the fresher they are the better the germination rate is. "If you need to store them place the seeds in a film canister (black one) with some rice. The rice will take up any moisture that is in with the seeds. The next thing to do is to place the seeds in the fridge this will keep them cool and dark. Change the rice every few months. You can expect to keep the seeds for 2 years."
Of course many seeds will remain viable longer than that, but the germination rate will drop the longer they are stored.

If by any chance you do get any of them to germinate. I would take extra good care of that plant.

Could you imagine if you had some Gold bud seeds in there? You could bring back a strain that is thought to have been extinct!

Seriously though. Theirs a slim chance that you are sitting on a gold mine bro. There are quite a few plants that are thought to be non existent from the 70's that were amazing strains and much sought after

None of there strains are anything like the original strains from the 70's bro. Ask anyone that's tried them and they will say the same

you might end up with somthing you like,but to assume they must be amazing is a little far fetched, unless your dad hung around with breeders or the like, there most likely from a seedy bag.

What I don't understand is how these strains totally dissappeared. Seems amazing to me that these very popular strains were allowed by their growers to die out.
After all, this was a very profitable industry and I would think that it was in their best interest to perpetuate them.
BTW, I was there in the 60s and the 70s and fondly recall so many strains. The strongest one I can recall was called Cambodian Black. A soldier friend of mine brought it back from VN and they came prerolled in a pack just like 100mm cigarettes. I have never been so high in my life. Two hits and I did not want anymore. It was the same with 5 other people in the room. We couldn't even finish it! Aaaahhhh...those were the days!

I am willing to bet that your dad still smokes. It is a very slim chance that the seeds he has came from 40 years ago. If I found seeds in my dads room and he told me he didn't smoke anymore, and they were from the 70's, I'd be like, "BULLSHIT, let's burn one".

So much has happened since then (to everyone's family, i. e. - moving around, theft, anything that would make things go missing), and I am pretty sure those seeds wouldn't have made it 40 years unless there was some kind of reason for keeping them.

I'm not trying to make you upset, What I'm saying is that you need to smoke one with your ole dadski!!

dont waste your time unless your dad was a breeder of the era...... it will probally be some low grade mexican sativa

I buried some purple seeds about two years ago. Labeled them in a bag and put them in a metal box, put them in the ground for someone in the future to find.

lol, i dont think seeds from the 70's wold sprout, but if they did it wold be amazing lol. but not the weed. in my experiance everything gets better with age this goes for pot plants too, way more people know what their doing now adays,(look at reefer madness they had a pinecone on a stick for a representation of weed plants) So, i dont know y you wold want something from "the 70's". plus i doubt any plant strain goes extincted, it just gets passed on to a diffrent breeder and was called something else.

We used to get pounds of seeds. Mostly Mexican Brick, although we did get some decent weed.

We used to plant them thousands at a time, didn't know about sexing. Wish we did!

I would plant them just for shits & giggles and get rid of the males, you never know.
