First time grow with a very small budget.

Up until the past 2 weeks I have been using distilled bottled water. I will start testing the ph of my tap water as soon as I can get some testing equipment.

I've tested some purified water I bought at the store and it had a PH of 7.8 I just use tap water now after letting it sit out for a day or two.

good luck man, hope that plant recovers well, it should looking at the latest pics.

Thanks Man, I'm staying optimistic.

I am germinating some more seeds to put into smaller containers for a bit of experimentation. I'm going to grow one in the top part of a container that holds burnable cd's ( I think it was a 100 cd size) and the other one I am going to try and grow in a 24 oz. can of rockstar. I want to see how much bud I can get out of these and I also want to see what will happen to them when they go into flower at a young age.

ALSO, I found out that most light from cfl bulbs comes from the sides so I built some pop can reflectors and am adjusting the lights to hang like they are lying on their side.

So I was wondering, are my purple stems cause for concern? It has been a purple-y color all of it's life so I'm guessing (hoping) it's just the strain, but I know that it could be from other problems.

So I moved the lights in the room around to hopefully provide more exposure and be more efficient.

I am going to take some clones, but I'm not sure which branches to use yet. I'm thinking the set right below the top 2 full leaves because they are the best ratio of size to health.

I am going to add an intake nozzle just to help keep it cooler in there. The temp floats right around 75 degrees.

The damaged leaves aren't necessarily looking any better but I think it's safe to say they aren't looking any worse. She's drooping now as expected so I won't be watering here for a few days.

jteether - off topic, how did u get that link on the bottom of ur post and how did u upload ur own avatar

there a high levels of (N) in the top stems. to clone u want the lower stems of the under growth theres less (N). nitrogen (N) stunts root growth. the best medium for seed or clones is perlite(not mg brand has nuts) peat moss and worm casting all cheap. u could even go with out peat moss and use more perlite, i pay 2$ for a 4.5lbs bag of brand name(wiggle worm soil builder) worm castings 1-0-0. nutes stunt root growth and stunt plant growth in the 1st week's of life. have u though of cloning at all.

Hey toak, go to "my roll it up" and then the edit avatar and signature are on the left side of the screen under settings and options.

I have thought of cloning and it is what I am wanting to do now so that I can attempt to do some "bonsai" grows with the clones

Ok, so pretty much ever since I woke up yesterday I've been reading about gardening and checking up on my plant. I got a bunch of ideas and changed some things.

The first thing I did which I already mentioned was adjust the lights.

Secondly, I decided to help my plant along by blowing into some of the drainage holes to help get out excess water from the flushing.

Getting tired of this I decided to bust out the 5 horse power shop vac and suck some water out, it seems to have been highly effective.

I made some more changes to the grow room by duct taping a screen to the top of the doorway and using push pins at the bottom for easy rolling access to the box. ( probably hard to see but the first 3 pics are of the screen) I put the screen on just to help keep the unwanted bug population out a bit more.

The reason I needed the screen was so I could blow more fresh air in with an oscillating fan I had sitting around. I figured more air flow couldn't hurt.

Next I was reading some articles about the veg state and somebody suggested making wine in the room to produce more CO2. Well I have been making my own fruit brews for awhile and so I decided I would start another one right now and have it feed into the room via the new intake I put in the box today. I wrapped the brew in a shirt just to make sure it didn't get a lot of exposure to all the lights, then i fed a hose from the top of the brew to the intake fan, it seems to be working well.

Also because clones and leaves need Co2 I was thinking I could use carbonated water to mist the leaves with and especially my clones when they are going so they get proper co2 while developing roots.

Then there is a shot of my entire grow room/box that I stayed up way later than i should have fixing up. ( I know what you're thinking and yes, those are my zen growing sandals that I leave in the room at all times)

And finally, one last shot of my baby before I am off to bed...:joint::joint::joint:

I think I might be worrying too much about my plant. I'm one of those very impatient types so i'm constantly checking on her and messing with things so I decided I'm just going to let her go for awhile and just kick back and get high.

I do want to ask about a few things though. The top leaves are turning a little yellow at the tips. Nute burn if i'm not mistaken? One of the very top leaves has a little yellow spot which I think was just from heat, so i moved it.

In the little bush at the bottom, one of the single "fingers" on one leaf is yellow. It started in the middle of it and spread to the whole thing, but the rest of the fingers on that leaf are fine. I'm also noticing that some leaves have little holes in various places which makes me think there's some sort of insect problem in there. I have seen some very small crickets in there. I have some tobacco juice made just for that.

The top where I FIM-ed is looking good as you can see, which I am happy about.

I am starting 2 more grows that will be much smaller and have less veg time. I was going to clone but my main plant isn't ready to take cuttings from so i'm just going to go from seed, one is started right now and the other will be in the next few days. I will grow them out until I'm ready to flower the big one and they will be on the 12/12 with it just as an experiment of sorts.

I'm worn out from all this stress, time to go pack a bowl:weed:

damn man i read your entire grow... and the thing is i'm in the same situation your are.
no job, broke, plant problems, and a ROOKIE first grow, impatiant as hell, i check them sometimes 2 to 3 times a day just to SMELL my 3 pretty girls. one smells like lemon/limes. the other smells like DEEP DANK SKUNK, and the last and my big baby girl is a silver tinted, pine smells goddess. that i can't wait to harvest. but i digress. the only dif is you grew inside and i went outside sense i didn't know what lights would work and what wouldn't. so i went outside. and i am very happy i did.
i figured that it was better and saves me on money. but if you do decide to get mollasses. i would get a brand called "blackstrapp" mollasses. that shit isn't sweet like normal mollasses that is really sweet. this is really bitter, which is a great thing because it doesn't attract bugs like others. and tell's your the nutes on the side (which is weird like it was ment for growing) but good luck man you should check out my plant pics on my profile. and tell me what you think. and good luck with your grow man...

p.s i had a question about your new idea to grow name brand seeds e.g. cheese trainwreck.
i was wondering where you saw tho's at. i am thinking of growing name brand seeds from BCSEEDS.COM
then seem to have the best genetics. and they also seem to have the BEST WEEEEED INTHE WORLD.

lol reading all these things about peoples first grows makes me feel real good about mine.

i used compost for nutrients, and it's about 3 or 4 weeks into flowering right now, it's pretty big imo, at least considering the fact that it is being grown in my moms house and she has no idea! lol.

My advice to a fellow first time grower is to do your research. Get a lot of lights, and get some good nutrients or compost. I was fortunate enough to have quality compost in my backyard and quality soil in my garage, but everything is worth the investment. i'm expecting to yield an ounce or more from my first plant, and i probably invested about 30 dollars...
it's a great deal.

Excellent dude. This was really just a try it out and work out the kinks grow. I went as simple as possible just to see what I can do/ For my next grow I plan to really invest in it and expect a quality yield

Hey drummerforpeace,

Where are you keeping your plant that your mom doesn't find it? I'm hiding mine from my family as well. I'm lucky because there is a door in my room that leads to a small room that's like 6' wide, 4' deep and about 7' tall. It's the perfect little spot for doing bad things...

oh yeah man that's why my first grow is outside. so i can get all my shit togather for my indoor grow and be able to know all the problems and mishaps.

ha! I could have probably planted outdoors without anyone knowing what it was but by the time I decided to grow it was too late in the season. And my uncle who lives down the street was a policeman for like 20 years or something so he would probably recognize it if he saw it.
