Newbie 150W HPS Closet Grow

Decided to take the advice of those who posted on my wall and use vinegar to help lower my pH. It didn't seem to have much of an effect on my water when I tested it, but the plants seem a little happier.

Going to put them on 12/12 on March 1st. Thinking about picking up a couple of gallons of distilled water to help them get as healthy as possible before that.

I'm hoping to use odor sponges to control the stench. If anyone's used them before feel free to post on my journal and tell me how they worked. I have a roommate who knows I'm growing, but he's worried about the smell, in case he needs to bring people over to our place. From what I've read they work great, and leave almost no smell at all.

That's all for now, going to post new pics on Sunday.:leaf:

Hey man, I've got a 150w hps too, just waiting to get my box all set up to start my first grow, so I'll be following this grow for sure. As far as filters, there is a ton of carbon filter tutorials in the DYI thread, you would need to install some type of ventilation though. Your grow is looking awesome, keep up the good work!

How often You water them with fertilizers?
I don't really use fertilizers at all. I don't even know if they are able to leaf feed yet or how it effective it would be, but I've been using a foliar spray twice a week.

Thanks man. Yeah I don't have a ventilation system, it is literally in my closet in my room, I even had to run an extension cord under my door. My ventilation system is me opening the door and hanging out with them. But thanks for the attempted help anyway.

I just got caught up with your grow Tem, it's looking really nice. You could start using nutrients now if you wanted to, depends on what you use and how much. I use a schedule that's 2 weeks of 24/0, followed by two weeks of 18/6 at what point I'm adding organic nutrients. Finally after the 4 initial weeks I switch to 12/12 to finally implement flowering. I do all of my cutting when I change my light from 18/6 to 12/12 because of the reactivity of the plants.

When you change the light back it takes the plant about two weeks to realize it's flowering, at which point it stops growing vegetatively and starts focusing on budding. For this reason I cut before flower, so that after the 2 week period where the plant is adjustin, it's also starting to focus it's energy on production on top of the plant and not the under branching. My plants usually have 5 true sets of leaves when I trim and I eliminate the bottom 2 stem sets for air flow.

Your northern lights will like top production as it tends to develop bigger sativa colas on top, yo could benefit from redirecting the growth upwards by pruning bottom branches soon and then switching back your lights mate. The plant looks sharp, try setting out your water for watering 3 days in advance to help kill microorganisms and Chlorine and if time/money permits, run an air stone and air pump in a reservoir dedicated for watering. Hope all is well for you, happy growing mate, keep us posted

I hate to veer off thread, but nice little grow UK. The closer the lights are the less the plants will stretch, keeps them nice and compact, tighten up the internodal distance a little bit. Keep up the good work guys

yeah man, I love this place. I really can't even believe this place exists, it's just too beneficial, and instructive on how to grow delicious ganja. You live in Canada, so it's different, but here in the states I can't believe I'm allowed to join this website and get expert instruction on how to grow an illegal substance.

Legality is in the eyes of the beholder mate, I use cannabis for medicinal purposes (but who doesn't love to get stoned?) and I'll be damned if someone will tell me to stop growing my medicine. They can't deny you your right to peaceful assembly mate :bigjoint:. I do love my country though

I may live an hour away from Toronto, but I'm a diehard Habs fan. Lately has been a very frustrating time for us bongsmilie. Sorry to stray, you asked for it though ;)

Hey man sorry i don't want to hijack your thread or anything, but since KuckCanuck is from Canada, i gotta ask ya, how do you guys like your health care? As with most things, its all to shit here in the states, and people claim that in canada and europe you have to wait forever in hospitals to get treatment for anything. Is this true or biased bullshit?
On a more on topic note, lets see some pics Tem!
