Gary, that's dumb. Fitch was pretty clear why they cut the rating. The constant debt ceiling brinksmanship was pointless, but has/had consequences.
Republicans screwed the country over again.
Wtf was supposed to be the upside of constantly threatening to not pay our bills? That was a stupid and embarrassing stunt that will now cost the American people a bunch of money.

I hope you are correct, though Wall Street took the downgrade seriously, as well as The Dow Jones and Nasdaq which tanked more than 300 points, while the S&P 500 slumped more than 1%. So much for people who have invested in commodities such as gold, silver, crude oil, and cryptocurrency.
At least our current administration will take care of us by borrowing $1 trillion in the third quarter to fund Bidenomics, and the good part is we won’t have to pay it back, that dept will be the responsibility of our kids and their kids.

actually, that man is an effect of the current counterrepublican platform of the hard right that calls the shots in the GOP, y’know, the ones who censured Cheney and Kinzinger for actually putting America first.
That man was the GOP giving itself permission to act on its worst impulses: taxing the working class to subsidize multinationals and other billionaires, putting teeth into the sexual delusions of the evangelicals (to the detriment of the nation’s women), and kicking harder against critical race theory than they’d do if there truly were nothing to it.
So blame that man for his misdeeds, but never as a substitute for recognizing that the GOP is now the overthrow party, forming up behind hateful lunatics like Jordan, Lake, DeSaster, Abbott, MosCarthy, Cancun Cruz and on and on.
