If you look up mad jags grows, well you will see he was growing skunk#1 in the usa in the 80's sourced from sam, delivered by rc an all before sam ever even visited Europe. So sam had skunk#1 before he ever visted Europe an was even selling it in the usa. However il tell you guys a secret, he likes to deny this now but a lot of the older guys (eg kees, nevil, edd, freddy)know this is 100% what he was saying. When mr skunkman first came to Europe an a few of the guys who actually knew what they were doing asked him how he had made skunk#1 his answer was it made its self. He grew some genetics he had obtained from someone else such as a Columbia Mexican hybrid (that was mabe sourced by someone else from the same commune ot1 got his hazes from)an another separate indica (probably from mapleleaf wilisons people) an grew them outdoors an skunk#1 made itself. Meaning accidental pollination. This is most likely why his very early sk#1 (eg ancestral skunk an before) was full of hermies. In Europe he managed to stabilise this an most likely added another indica to it because the first version were very sativa an not like the modern sk#1.
Let me see if I can find the pictures of sk#1 by mad jag

Well skunk for sure been in holland since 83 or 84 if not earlier i seen those pics on icmag before it probably was a very early gen of skunk#1 in em that madjag growing there before being bottlenecked to hell like most of todays versions

I’ve smelled it on outdoors plants in the night when they perspiring . But nothing skunk spray at all during drying or curing. I think when you’ve actually had bud that’s pure skunk spray smell it’s easy to determine that although raunchy and offensive most of these afghans have nothing even close to what an actual skunk spray smells like. Oil,gas,garbage,dogshit,diesel,dirt,garlic, no skunk spray.

It wouldnt suprise me from what i gather the first "skunk" was a mazar cross columbian gold no mexi involved till later but it was sexually unstable and more a outdoor thing in cali etc who knows really tho what the first one was genetically

Morning my fellow growers just wanted to share a few pics of my skunk #1 plants which are going to be ready in a few weeks. I managed to hang on to the strain for approximately 40 years some close to me day I’m a bean hoarder but I did pass on a few beans to a good friend I met on here hoping that he’ll keep this rare strain going long after I’m gone. I wish I could share the stanky road kill aroma with you all as well.

its funny, we had the crazy smelling skunk in late 80s. the guy who is alive today of the partners, says it was skunk 1. but the wife of my dead friend says that crazy smelling skunk was columbian seeds she had...? she could be way off. but shes a smart person maybe she isnt wrong...

Since the original skunk pics have been posted and someone wanted to see a modern skunk compared to the original.ninty-sept-19-19.JPG The smell shows up on the third day of drying and is not smelled again.

The running theme here is that it was a cut or a pheno so strong that the smell could not be contained. All before large scale legalization. I'm wondering if those genetics are so rare now just due to raids. I mean if you were growing that anywhere close to civilization there is no way you could keep it secret. Couldn't even have a bag in the house without being able to smell it outside.

Well the skunkyest i seen in recent years is skunk special and thats also known as skunk#2 skunk redhair/ red skunk its more catpissy than roadkill skunky tho imo and thats from the 1984 redskunk clones that used to float about Holland for outdoor and greenhouse production mainly its from sam but super early days it was choosen from huge numbers ferry started working with that one in the early nineties its mexi and columbian dom imo also in structure other than that closest i came across otherwise is certain cheese s1s and hybrids i think that rks is a type rather than 1 single strain and i think its more to the ghani side but who knows really
