Yessir! Back home we had regional names for it, KGB (killer green bud) is what it went by in my area, also heard it called Rocky Mountain green bud.

Wow thats very surprising, he is known to love his fans always speaks highly of them, wonder if he was being sarcastic or if he was a bit spun. They're all good guys, I can't say to much but have a good friend that is married to one of the band members...
I had always heard that and I was shocked, it was weird he rolled up on the golf cart and hung out for a minute toking and talking. I told him I was new to their music and wanted to check out the live, he went on this diatribe about fans that weren’t there for him. I mean, I think he was trying to make the point that the music wasn’t the reason they were there.

That’s where I got confused I couldn’t tell if he was being philosophical or condescending. He is an intense person though, like one of those people with a presence.

Ya that makes sense, lot of people started coming around then for the "scene"...thats when they started to really get big on 97-98'...trey was probably just trying to make sense of the whole thing. I know I wouldn't be sure what to make of it, they weren't your typical Rockstars, just some cool dorkie dudes that started a college band in VT.

@Dividedsky im too lazy to flip back and quote you but to your comment about these fools starting seed companies by just grabbing a male from a proven line and chucking it's spunk all over some "elite" clones is really getting to me... I don't think it really sank in until I was at a cannabis convention recently and this one dude was just going on and on about how a more established breeder has given him this super bomb male so he started hitting all these elite strains with it blah blah blah... acting like it was a huge accomplishment. Dude wanted $150 a pack. I was like, you didn't do shit man. I can do that. Elite clones are so easy to get now. It's not like back in the day when you had to be in the know to get a Chem Sister cut. You can just order it online.

I can't do that though. If I ever have gear to sell, it'll be because I spent years hunting through these old ass beans and found something I need to share with the world... even if almost nobody wants it lol

Also, there are some breeders messing with landraces and current strains right now, they just don't have a ton of exposure. I'm rocking a Nigerian Sunshine x Goji OG from Synergy Genetics as we speak....not gonna be a huge yielder but man she smells amazing

The Dutch growers couldn’t get hardly anything to grow outside from day one, they talk at length about this issue. A lot of what they did was make cannabis more hardy. This is in some ways a trade protection even though it's somewhat inadvertent.

It’s still a truth with modern stuff for exactly what you’re saying, and with hemp farming becoming more prolific outdoor crops won’t be safe any where anyway. My cousins always told me you can’t grow outdoor in the plains already just because of all the wild hemp.
Naw, I grew plenty outdoor in the prairie state. Only would find a few beans out of pounds.

But you can literally drive through the country side and find hemp growing on side of roads/fields.

Definitely could see issues if youre growing legal large scale though.

It's definitely true dude, and yes anyone can get there hands on elite cuts these days if you are in the know. Honestly dude I don't even think some are getting proven males or pollen from proven males and dusting their cuts. I think some are just popping reg packs and looking for a good male, then boom* blowing facial powder loads all over their bitches. I was talking about it with colocowboy a few days ago, i think I could hunt a male in a 1 pack of my karma biker kush, dust all my elite female cuts and the seeds produced would be as good if not better than the newer seed companies charging $100s...

Great info! Thanks for filling in some of the NL blanks.

Are you familiar with Swami Organic Seeds? They're running a lot of crosses with those old genetics.

If you haven't seen this already, you might like this interview with Greg.

Yeah, Ive been growing Swami stuff for several years now. Weve got 2 killer phenos of the Blue Orca Haze, and found some killers in the NL5 x Haze, but it takes to long to flower. 90 days.

2 different phenos of Bluse Orca Haze. First is NL5 dominant.... 2nd one tastes like menthol, bubblegum, and hash. My favorite. 4 hours high on only several hits. Lung Buster.1605585052814.png1605585088700.png

WOW! I'll take that as a thumbs up for SOS. I just finished some of his Chocolate Thai x Mazar/Guerrero BX, and had two phenos that went 90 days.
Have you run any of the 76 Guerrero yet? I ran some once, got one female, she was extremely sensitive to nutes. My first attempt at a landrace sativa. I basically fried her at an EC of 0.6 in coco. Will run her again, and hope to do much better.

Never knew what we were smoking around here in the 90s. Whatever had been shipped in from BC usually, but we didn't know what it was other than bud. Then my best friend's brother started growing and we started getting waaay better stuff. Back then most of the hype was for "hydro".
I still remember the first day of high school was my first toke. The best weed we ever got 3 of us shared a joint, didn't seem like anything special at first, then everything started to look like a mosaic. Haven't been able to find anything like it since.
