Bernie Sanders roasted for not paying staffers $15 per hour.

The controversy over Bernie Sanders’s low-paid field staffers, explained
In early June, Sen. Bernie Sanders traveled to Walmart’s annual shareholder meeting to confront company executives over their moral culpability for the low incomes of many of the company’s employees.

“Walmart is the largest private employer in America and is owned by the Walton family, the wealthiest family in the United States,” Sanders said. “And yet, despite the incredible wealth of its owner, Walmart pays many of its employees starvation wages — wages that are so low that many of these employees are forced to rely on government programs like food stamps, Medicaid and public housing in order to survive.”

People with families to support generally don’t take low-level jobs on political campaigns, and consequently, it’s unlikely that many Sanders campaign staffers are eligible for social assistance benefits. But as a report this week by Sean Sullivan at the Washington Post revealed, Sanders’s campaign pays many of its staffers — primarily in the traditionally low-paid field department — less than the $15 per hour he (along with most Democrats) has set as a proposed national pay floor.

Now he has finally given in and conceded to pay his minions the $15 per hour that he has been bleating about for years. He cut their hours to do it.

If you apply my union contract to these employees:

40hrs @ 13/h = 520/wk
20hrs @ 19.50 = 390/wk

(My contract is actually overtime after 35hrs, but most are 40, so I'll use that.)

520 + 390 = $910/wk ×52wks = $47,320/yr

12hr day entitles me to:

Breakfast @ $12. × 6= $72
Lunch @ $18 × 6 = $108
Supper @ $26 ×6 = $156

72 + 108 + 156 = $481/wk (tax free)

I would say that 250 miles for a week would be a conservative estimate for mileage for a 6 day work week.

.58 × 250 = $145/wk (tax free)

481 + 145 = $626/wk (tax free)

910 + 626 = $ 1536/wk or $79,872/year, with only $47,320 being taxable.

On top of that, 20 sick days, 5 family illness days, 4 appointment days and 5 wks vacation, benefits (drugs, dental, LTD/STD, employee assistance program, health spending account, and a defined benefit pension plan [based on my best 5 years, not my contributions]), and all my work expenses paid for, etc..

Don't be fooled by a $13/h slum job compared with a Union position.

I don't know their contract so it's hard to judge, but I'll just put this out there. I don't make near that amount because I don't work that much. I make way more per hour but only work about an average of 10hrs/month or so of overtime, and only get maybe 10 meals/year, but perks can add up quickly.

That's nice Burt,

Bernie staffers don't make almost 80K a year though, no one is fooled. And if Bernie gets his way, all income will be taxed most likely around 70% to pay for all the free shit

I didn't say they were making that, I was illustrating the point that despite a low wage (almost double the NH minimum wage), with a union contract it is possible to make at least a living wage, which is a far cry from a 13/h job with no benefits or overtime.

You do realize that a union contract is an employment contract between the employer and union, ratified by the membership. The wage is a term of that contract, but nothing says he can't give bonuses at the end of their term though. If he doesn't, that's pretty shitty and not in line with the values he pushes. I'm not a die hard Sanders fan, I align with the ideology he pushes.

You pulling ridiculous numbers like a 70% tax rate doesn't help your argument, and only makes it look like unsuported, made up propaganda. (Fake news).

What’s your point? Your one of the lucky ones? The facts are he doesn’t walk the talk so even if I have no iron in this fire, he sounds like just another rich prick who cries poor. I have nothing against rich people, what I do hate is the ones that always cry that their poor.

I know how a union works, Burt, thank you for the concern

I will bet you anything that Bernie is not giving his staffers any bonuses or even any real benefits. The fact is, Bernie staffers had to fight with Bernie and squeeze him just to get what they have

No shit. The answer is 6.2% in the private sector. 33% in the public sector - mostly pigs and teachers.
They're pigs because they make a living wage and have a good work/life balance? How dare they dream that big? You want the people educating your children to make poverty line wages? Your underfunded education seems to be functioning just fine, after all it did give you Trump.

Lol, you're such a clown.

Oh, sorry Officer.

Your reading comprehension is quite poor. Maybe you should steal a name from "The Office" for your next sock puppet instead of "Parks and Recreation".
