It would take about half a day to write a script that would scan old threads and gather usernames, then subject them to a dictionary full of weak passwords. By noon you would have full privileges to a hundred established accounts with a history.

I would feel paranoid if I did not know as much as I do about their tactics.

Big data, you can keep a big file on every single American these days and there are lots of sources of data too. You can know if a feller is about to scratch his nuts today, not to mention how he is gonna vote. With the internet ya can reach out and touch them too, a national defensive institution and a national firewall would help, not like the Chinese great firewall either, more like a filter for bullshit.
