Americans really aren’t ready for socialism yet but they don’t get “we” they only get “me” and it manifests but their thoughts on who should pay, it’s always somebody else. Poor want the rich to pay, the rich want the poor to pay. How about we all pay?

I don't know current tax rates or brackets, but I guess I need to know what rich means to you, because I think 200k+ is rich.
Then you must be dirt poor.

My wife and I make that. We're nowhere near rich. We're not even upper middle class.

We're middle class.

The average American household income is right at 50,000 dollars per year. What they don't tell you is that is based on a 2 income total.

Which of course means the average American makes around 25,000 per year.

Not surprisingly, the poverty level is currently 25,000 per year.

That's why most Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

The present minimum wage that 75% of Americans work for is 7.25 per hour. That is 15,000 per year...10,000 BELOW poverty.

Republicans have brainwashed you into believing a life of poverty and ignorance is actually the status quo.

Jesus H Christ. You had to have been born last month. Talk about a dense dreamer. You have obviously not been paying attention.

Simple question, how much do you think they should pay? I think close to 60% is pretty high but I want to know what you think so why not answer?

Do you think that’s too low? Does that make me a right winger in your mind?

In japan it maxes out at around 45%, are we all right wingers? I really am starting to believe you guys are just idiots who want to blame anybody but yourselves and stick it to the rich, and that’s not a political ideal, that’s just ignorant,
Do you know what marginal tax rates are, you dumbass right wing fraud?

So what I’ve heard from you guys so far is, Republicans can be blamed for everything and the rich should pay for everything. Brilliant.

Federal, state, property and other taxes combined I think the rich are paying pretty high. Over 50% some places. What would you like to see? I’m more concerned with corporate and havens etc.
LOL

Basic ignorance on display.

So here is total taxes -- which includes corporate taxes, income taxes, payroll taxes, state sales taxes, and more -- paid by different income groups and broken into federal and state and local burdens:

The numbers are from 2012 actual mileage may vary. The tax cut for the rich probably would have skewed the chart more towards the middle of the distribution.

People making 30k per year pay about 6,000 in taxes. That leaves $24,000 to pay for housing, food, shelter, medical, transportation, clothing for themselves and their kids.

Using your $200k as an example, they pay about $60,000 in total taxes, leaving $140,000 to pay for their own and their family' needs. It's not about soaking anybody, it's about finding ways to balance the budget. Wealthy people can most definitely afford to pay more.

It actually does. In fact its the norm in most countries.
Now as a once higher income earner ill let you in on a secret. Because people earn more they have more investments. Investments that help minimise tax and create wealth. This means that the taxable income they claim is normally less than the true figure of what they earned. (Its also the reason that Trump doesn't want his income tax made public as he would not of paid very much at all/if any). This means that to tax them at around the same rate of an avg income earner you have to have a higher %.

But someone with a higher disposable income should pay more. Its fair, just like its fair that someone on a minimum wage should pay little or no tax. This means any disposable income they have goes back into the local economy. Local economies drive the larger economies and create local jobs. Its one of the reasons why Walmart and similar are bad.

I believe their is a country/s that has takin that one step further and fines (like for driving and shit) is based on a fixed % of their income. Which when u think about it is very fair. Not many millionaires worry or adjust their driving habits with a measly $300 fine, $30,000 fine? u betcha.

Tax advantage is a scam.
Everything you said I actually agree with.
I think it's just conflicting lawfully and morally

Again what % do you think the rich should pay?
90%.

That was the tax rate for the rich (top 8%) for 8 years under Eisenhower. The United States saw it's greatest improvements in infrastructure, standard of living, and the birth of the middle class during that time.

In each progressing administration, taxes on the wealthy were lowered while taxes on the middle class increased, the rich got richer and the middle class got left behind turning us into what we are today: a society of working poor dominated by a very small extremely wealthy upper class.

Id be ok with the 70%. Its only after they make a crazy amount of money, and it would be nice to not drive over bridges that are falling apart.

We don't need to build as much now, should be a little cheaper maintaining it, but screw it, 90% works for me. We have the 80's to make up for still.

OK, wise guy.

Tell us how you would balance the budget.
lol, I'm not that smart, are you? I think you have to stop the tax breaks that Trump gifted the rich and raise taxes a bit and control unneeded spending on wars. Also tackle the health care mess.

90%. Get ready for everybody moving their official residency overseas.
oh please, I don't think 'everyone' makes more than 450k a year. And they only need to worry about paying that on the 451kth dollar and each after that. A lot will reinvest to stay below that much income in a year which is still good for us. They are making that money off the hard work of their employees, they benefit the most from the roads bringing their goods to market, they benefit the most from having an educated workforce, they benefit the most from having employees that don't get ill. Its not too much to ask that they step up and get our infrastructure back to where it should be.
