I harvest at least 12 plant per month, and simply snip the stalks in 12" pieces, put them in a garbage bag and throw them in the garbage.i have a large amount of cannabis stems and trim waste on a regular basis. I have a tiny garden and my compost bin overflowed with compost this spring and I had no room left for any more. I dont use compost as my garden is tiny and I grow in hydro.
It was one hell of a workout dragging that much compost out of my garden.
I tried a burning bin last week I thought after using all the trim for shatter I would of stripped all the terpenes off them.
I put the iso soaked trim in the burning bin and lit it, instantly exploded into flames and absolutely stunk of weed across the area.
I can’t take bags of weed to some shop car park here as they are monitored. Considered a worm bin but they will likely have the same issue of space and leftover worm castings
Is there any other methods or a way to reduce the smell of a burning bin?
I’ll look into those shredders you get for hedge trimmings.I harvest at least 12 plant per month, and simply snip the stalks in 12" pieces, put them in a garbage bag and throw them in the garbage.
No muss, no fuss.
Oh, composting stems doesn't really work, they take too long to decompose unless shredded, and burning them?
Yea, they smell like pot, so I'd advise against it if you have neighbors.
What do you do with lawn waste, like leaves and such?I’ll look into those shredders you get for hedge trimmings.
It’s the volume of waste I’m trying to reduce I just don’t like the idea of large sacks of rubbish in the bin. Our bin men check our bins to make sure we have separated recycling from normal waste and if we havnt they don’t take our bin.
You must live in one boring place if garbage collection is a spectator event.See that would be absolutely stupid here as people are sat in their front rooms will always see out their window at me walking down the street throwing something in their garbage.
I’m looking into biochar now. I wonder if cooking the stalks and trim without a flame under high temperatures stops the smells escaping
Lawn waste is only collected in summer so I can’t use it all year round. Council doesn’t waste money on lawn collection in winter when our lawns don’t grow. What do you do with lawn waste, like leaves and such?
You must have some energetic garbage men where you live that they search your garbage for recyclables.
What the fuck is up with that?
I did that but it stinks of weed when burned. How do you avoid that?Let it dry for a few days, it burns pretty easily
That would require like 10 bottles a day even for a small grow surely lolBlend with some water. Put it in a reusable bottle, take a brisk morning stroll. If anybody asks it's your morning nutrition drink. Get close to a storm drain, take a sip, make a face and say "ewww...", dump it down the storm drain. Repeat as needed.
My kitchen is getting renovated next month and I’m considering getting a garbage disposal unit built into the sink. I’ve seen one which advertises cutting up chicken bones into fine particles and washing them down the drain.
You guys reckon that’s a safe way to get rid of them?

Never heard of them but looks interesting. It will really break down into unrecognisable stuff within 10 days?Bokashi bin then either in the yard or in the trash. If the trash guys dig through your garbage they won't know what it is.
Seen that one for sale here. Chippings will still be recognisable though won’t they?
if the stems are dry they come out looking like mulch for a garden. if the stems are moist, they just shred and look like you chewed up some celery.Seen that one for sale here. Chippings will still be recognisable though won’t they?
That might be my best option. I can’t find that exact model or brand here. Are all garden shredders made similar or what sort of spec do I need to look for?if the stems are dry they come out looking like mulch for a garden. if the stems are moist, they just shred and look like you chewed up some celery.
