I think it is suspect that for the first time ever, the statues were removed from the roof to accommodate reconstruction
Maybe it was just human error by some contractor ...time will tell

whether it has any religious significance to you or not, it is a major piece of European history,
the crowning of Henry the sixth. the coronation of Napoleon. Joan of Arc's beatification,
a 17th century organ that is (?) still in operation, three "rose windows" that still contain glass made in the 13th century...a terrible thing to lose...
at least no one has died yet...hope that stays the same

What a tragic loss.
It took almost 200 years to build, and I was fortunate enough to visit it in 1980.
The architecture was amazing, seeing the influences of the different architects over the generations was mind boggling.
Not only has France lost a National Treasure, but the world as a whole just lost a tremendous part of history.
Very sad

You have no heart, it was a beautiful building, and France just lost a great part of it's identity, sorta like the Statue of Liberty falling into the sea.

I agree about Catholicism, but that religion is no worse than say Hindu, which is a really fucked up religion (caste system, really?)
I'm more into historical Architecture, like when ISIS destroyed all those sites in Syria, that sucked, so when some building that was over 600 years old is lost, that bugs me also
