So i just happened to come into possession of 20000 cocktail straws.
Other than arts and crafts can anyone think of any practical use for them.

Really doubt I'll ever use this many straws and I don't just want to throw them away.

Lol does he wanna buy 20000 straws?

I think what im going to do is melt them down into sheets of plastic about an half an inch to an inch thick then use those sheets to build a housing unit for my two viperspectras so I can exhaust the air direclty out of the tent over the course of the warm summer months

How's this?
... glue (ideally ultrasonically weld) 397 straws into a close-packed hexagonal bundle (this number gives 12 straws to a side; number chosen for easier handling). Then cut (bandsaw?) the bundles into 3/4-inch thick pucks. These can now be tiled to make large light strong sheets. Laminate both sides with a solid sheet of plastic (or sonically weld) for a large sheet of a strong and insulating material that should work great for the sort of construction project you mentioned.

Your craft protestations notwithstanding, there's always this.

So I started unpacking the straws and made a very scary realization that I actually have 50000 straws.

That Eiffel tower looks tempting,

Someone has to ask. How did you come into possession of 50k straws?

I'm a chef's assistant, was told to clean the maintenance / papers room, was told to recycle them but not how to. We are no longer allowed to use plastic disposables here in a few months.
