Older people and arthritis pain - CBD or some medicinal MMJ?

I was asked by an older lady in a new medical state about reducing her pain. Her spine is not good and she has arthritis pain. She does take some form of strong and crappy pharamas for pain.

Anyone with first hand experience? Please no suggestions about burning a joint. Thanks for other suggestions. Is it CBD or a combo with some delivery of MMJ?

I don't really know, but I'll tell you about my experience. Take it with a grain of salt and don't swear by it but this is only about my experience.

In Oklahoma on July 2, this year, the tax on cigarettes went up $1 per pack. I left the "Peace Pipe", the smoke shop, and went across the street to the CBD shop. The guy sold me a sample hit from a vape for $2. That evening I felt a little better. The next day I went back and bought a vape and some CBD oil.

My condition was this, arthritis in my hips allow me to walk almost exactly 450 feet without having to stop and rest. It didn't help my knees to walk that far. And it goes all the way up my neck. My hands made it very difficult to do things like open a jar lid. I'm sure you get the point, painful but not totally disabled. Just very aggravating. Btw, I'm 79 years old.

Within a week of vaping CBD I was walking round trip to the barn, 300 feet, without pain and now I'm feeling really good. Almost unlimited as to what I do.

BUT!!! I have to say this! The second bottle did nothing for me and it was back to the sore joints. The mixture was thinner and lighter in color.
I grew some grass, made my own oil and now I'm back to doing all the heavy maintenance of 10 acres with no pain. The seeds came from a grow of Gold Leaf and White Widow. One GL went hermie so it was either a second generation GL or GL/WW if that helps.

I find that sativa helps keep the pain down but but sometimes indica makes the pain more noticeable before it just sort of disappears. If I have my choice it's sativa in the daytime and indica in the evening.

BTW, the doc tried to put me on opioids. I wouldn't have anything to do with them.

I hope this helps and not steer you in the wrong direction.

I'm MMJ. I've grown 2 things so far that seemed to help with chronic pain, one was a white rhino X mazar, & one by spliff seeds called Afghani Gold, its my go-to for Sleep / pain, but I let the AG get very Amber on purpose, otherwise it's a more stoney smoke, can't comment on CBD and I've only grown maybe 30 different strains since I've been back growing so that's my .02 hope it helps good luck!

My high thc strains only help a little. I have needed ibuprophin to help with early arthritis pain and the bone spurs and such from injuries.

A month ago I got a couple bottles of greenpoint pure cbd oil. I take a dropper per day. My ibuprophin use is already cut in half. And bonus. I sleep better too.

I think I only needed the added cbd as I regurlarly eat edibles made from my own crop. But there is full spectrum cbd oil available with terps and all available. My injured friend vouches for bluebird botanicals full spectrum oil.

Also his and my injury nerve damage has started healing faster with cbd.

Thank you. How long did you and your friend wait to see results? :-D

Don’t know about my friend as he had been treated and operated on in Colorado and started cbd Oil on his doctors recommendation.

I started to see improvement on my shoulder and neck pain immediately and muscle growth where I was reconstructed in about 3 weeks.

But there are always other factors in healing.

Let’s say I will definitely stay on it and will eventually find and grow my own cut to make our own oil.

For elderly or NON SMOKERS ...

Easy for them to medicate with tinctures / lozenges / RSO / edibles / cremes / bath bombs , etc .
All infused with CBD 1:1 ... non high meds. I have a friend currently injecting knee with injectable pharms ( so wrong I think ) that I am trying to get him to try drops under tongue and CBD joint Balm.

Most dispensary’s carry CBD offerings , and am currently growing a couple of high CBD/CBN variety strains for his use later ... glycerin drops .

Big Pharma can suck it ... FDA just approved Epidiolex for seizure treatment and categorized it as a schedule V for prescribing.

I'm going to copy and paste from another forum on another site.

J: "hey Subcool, which of your strains do you recommend for body pain but also doesnt put you in couch lock mode and wanting to fall asleep. Im looking to buy some of your genetics for my next season and so many look good. hoping i can get your feedback since you have smoked them all im sure. thanks"

O: "Howdy

If I may answer for Sub.

Pennywise would be a good choice for 1. That being said, I have been having excellent success with Hurkle. I helps with my Lower back pain, arthritus, keeps me moving during the day and also helps me sleep at night. I have had excellent results with Canna caps. 1 oz to 2 cups of Coconut Oil and 2 tbsp of Lecithen makes a good pain reliever and doesn't make me drowsy"

J: "Thanks for the reply, Any info is appreciated. I am not familiar with cannabis caps I'll have to look them up. If you dont mind sharing, How many different strains of his have you grown"

O: "Hi Juston ive been his lead tester for 12 years give or take. I have grown many of his strains. Honestly, these days I cannot keep up lol. If your looking for pain relief I’d start with the 2 I mentioned. Pennywise leans on the sat so she can get tall where as the Hurkle is a hybrid so she’ll fall in the middle being more compact."

I use cbd isolate for my migraines, and back spasms. I buy it but the kilo, and I'm a distributor. I actually dab distillate and cbd isolate, as I feel the cbd needs a bit of thc for added kick.

99.64% pure organic cbd isolate, and a little distillate.

My 4x multiple sclerosis, 2x cancer, and myself (rheumatoid arthritis, migraine, and muscle spasm sufferrer). We all use this with excellent results. I make butter for my ms and cancer patients.

I grew cannatonic 4 CBD for 5 yrs. All my patients like it. Then I switched to cbd isolate 1yr sho, and now they LOVE it!

Dosing is minimal, due to the 98.6% pure potency. A little goes a long way. The pic above is what I use for migraines. Dip my dabbed took in my distillate, then into the isolate, then dab. The distillate acts like a glue for the isolate to adhere to.

You can dose isolate pretty much any way as desired.

Dab
Orally (sublingual/under tounge injestion/edibles)
Suppositories
Sprinkle on a joint/bowl

In my opinion, the best result is from lots of THC if you are in desperate pain. It does not take pain away as much as teach you how to tolerate it more, also you tend to make fewer micro movements.
Smoking is very good as it allows you to find out just how much you are comfortable with, before stopping without having to wait for ages like with edibles. Maybe a vape that can fill bags would be an option.

Its cbd. Its NOT cocaine. Geesh.
OK. I'll agree to that. But, I don't go head first into something I don't know anything about. The difference between you and me is that you know and I still have to find out. What I am doing reading as much as possible about problems and solutions. Doesn't matter whether it's cbd, thc, plants, legals, or whatever. As I said in one of my other posts, I'll give my opinion based on what I either know or have been told by a creditable source and I give credit to the source. After following a lot of your post I believe you know what you are talking about but that's not a good answer. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes wrong. If I'm right maybe a problem gets solved. When I'm wrong the people that know come down on me with a big stick and the question gets answered by by them. This is kind of example of that. I quoted a very reasonable source in post #8. I believe the guy. The lead grower for Subcool for god's sake. I believe you. You know what you are what you are about. When I quote DemonTrich about how much isolate what do I say? "Geesh"?

I do this for a living
I don't think you understand that that's why I follow you around? It's easy to find "the people that know" but sometimes you have to poke them with a stick a little more info.

I really don't think cbd would cause green-out or anything like that but it does sound strong. I would never take more than half a dose of anything new. Already had that experience with meds (big pharma poison).

CBD is great for arthritis. I would say .10 to 1.5 grams per pound. You can take more of it for pain, doesnt make you loopy. Turmeric also, Ayurvedic medicine and the Indians even have a festival where you smoke herb to get down with Shiva.

I could tell you nothing can go wrong, but I know better. In rare cases some people have had adverse results from taking CBD. Easy fix is to consume some THC. I know you want more and accurate info, you can get some here, but for CBD you will find a plethora of great information, cannabis science.

Get Hold of some Cbd,A lot are saying it does not work,I do not agree i was using Benzo's and high Opiate based tablets .Since i have started Using cbd during the day ,Charlotte's Angel CBD,but i do also use a thc strain at night.Cbd on its own has been brilliant with Anxiety and depression. Also helped cut the tablet dose in half in time i'm hoping to ditch them full stop,You really want Oil made from Buds though,Its far better than the hemp based oil,I'm not smoking to get of my nut i'm smoking,I;m doing it to get me well, and away from these meds the doctors are only to happy to give us now.If you are suffering with bad pain at night ,then just use cannabis oil Made with bud with thc in it,the use a piece the size of a grain of rice This will help you sleep.Once it gets into your system,it seems to work during the day for so long too, The rest of the day till bed use oil made from cbd bud , your not wanting to get high ,Be careful ,with the oil with thc in its potent stuff. The one with say 18% cbd 0.4 thc is a little like a benzo kinda feeling ,not meaning to put you of by this i mean ,,it really does make you calm and you feel medicated .Its true what they say about that strain hard to explain ,un less you have had it,I smoke it though too.Hits me faster
