Do you know when the site be up and running again?
A day or two ago they posted on IG that it should be back up by the end of the day, but obviously it’s still down.

It really shouldn’t take this long to upgrade a server. I could spin one up, clone the site over, and get it running in thirty minutes tops. That includes upgrading to https and any redirecting it would require. These days you can spin up a server on AWS that will auto scale depending on the traffic, so something like a site crashing due to loads should never happen. It’s also cheaper than most server providers.

JBC isn’t the only one, all these seed banks could really do with hiring a tech guy that actually knows what he’s doing.

I wonder if JBC is going thru the same perils as SHN and GPS. Or is it really just site maintenence.
are you refering to a post about SHN packages being seized i read in a bodhi thread of all places? can you or someone provide some deets on this "situation" as i want to order from u.s bank soon but i have seen allot of wonky stuff happening with several u.s sites going down and posts about seizures etc...

Yea, that is what I was referring too. I don't know the specifics, but the two aforementioned seedbanks have had their shipments seized at their local post office.
There are still quite a few U.S. seedbanks that are trustworthy and carry great genetics. The two that come to mind are d.c. seed exchange and Greatlakesgenetics.

Here is an exerpt from the SHN thread. A bit more "deets" on the situation.
lil oddity, with GPS, nobody got letters, to my knowledge, just got seized and he changed shipping companies from usps. SHN, apparently uses a ups store, gets their box or packages seized and the recepients get letters from the usps post insp crim div. You figure it out. Both in legal rec and medical states, not the same one. Looks like the bombmaker and fent folks have made the mail folks susp of mass volume mailings, I guess we'll see where it goes. Now you see why on IG many do the dm or email dealio. Still think this is good for sites like strainly, peer to peer marketplace.jmho

Well we know JBC was updating his website and even said the site was down and hoped to get it back up soon. His packages have been coming through though. Seedsherenow seems to be hot, packages getting seized, buyer beware. There are several other great options but I don't feel right mentioning them in a JamesBean thread. Sit tight, he'll be back up and running soon I'm sure.

I wouldn't be nervous, I got seeds seized and I'm in a red state, the post office doesn't even follow through on anything. They just seize it and send you a letter telling you it got seized in case you want to appeal it. They've been doing that with ounces and actually quarter pounds of weed lately too. They get so many, hundreds or thousands per day that they don't have the resources to follow through. So, if your seeds get seized you can expect a letter and nothing more.

nah dude i am erroring on the side of caution after reading all the threads and seeing the letter is now certified to the SHN customers and that the office is the law enforcement office now LEO. no offense or anything i can't risk it and don't really need to. i'll use what i have or hit up someone i trust till i can go buy at the emerald cup like once a year or something

Did you order your seeds from outside the country? And they got seized because of that? Or from within the US?

Just an FYI, JBCseeds.com is up but being worked on. The old site jamesbeancompany.com is no longer rerouting people to the new site.
Good to hear, I had been clicking the site since Saturday night. I gave up once I got in contact with JB and made an order thru him. Then, after the site didn't go back up on Monday as he stated, I got a lil nervous. Thinking about GPS and SHN with their issues.
My posts aren't/weren't meant to arouse any angst or cast suspisions on JBC or what they may have been going thru.

I ordered from Greenpoint seeds, from within the US. According to Gu, the owner of Greenpoint seeds, he had 16 packages seized at that moment, from the post office that he was sending them from. I'm a little pissed, because afterwards I learned that he had been warned about having his business PO Box there and sending everything from the same place all the time and that he should scatter it around. So, I feel a little bit like he put me at risk when he could have done differently. I know other guys that have had their packages seized and they continue growing. I cleaned out, and right now, I'm spending the next few months just collecting as many genetics as I possibly can, and then I'm going to move to a new place in June and start growing there. I decided I'm not going to have seeds shipped to the same house I'm growing in.

I do feel like it would be fine and safe to grow here though. All I received was a letter from the USPS stating they had seized my package and they were going to destroy it. They provided instructions on how to appeal it if I wanted to. I've also communicated a bit with a couple of the other folks who had their packages seized from that round of orders and they also only received the letter and nothing more. On some of the dark web market forums, people are saying they've had various packages seized ranging from ounces of weed to quarter pounds of weed to bulk vape cartridge orders, and the post office is only sending letters for those also. They are not contacting local law enforcement presumably because they are overwhelmed by the sheer number of illicit packages being found every day.
