So I think I’m officially hooked! I think legalization is coming soon to my state and I think if I gain the full knowledge on growing I can get a competitive edge. Anybody know of a credible education route for cannabis or should I just pursue like horticulture!?

man you have missed the boat...people with decades of experience have already moved in on this scene, though if you learn horticulture in general you may find work 'for' someone with an established company

The Bible Belt and the Rust Belt has plenty of room for growth! And one thing the old heads may lack is innovation.

Doubtful there are plenty of guys with years upon years of experience down in the belt. I’m originally from Louisiana there’s more than you think. However any cannabis themed college is going to be junk. Go for a traditional degree in botany in some from or fashion. I’ve been doin the same going for another degree. As for innovation it’s going to be hard to top plus there are a lot of us that build our own stuff using raspberry pi as a base.

The innovation I’m talking about isn’t growing innovation. Competitive edge type innovation. But yea I think botany may be to broad for me at this point. Thinking horticulture with a focus on edaphology.

getting a degree in something that has to do with cannabis, not necessarily growing it, is the best route at this point I think. Something like soil biology, bugs, etc.can find jobs somewhere in the industry for sure. Going for the straight "growing" degrees might not be worth much since you might have the schooling but not the experience over some of the others looking to join the industry.

Most in the industry don’t care about anything but experience and proof of what you’ve done. Best best if you want in the mainstream side document your grows in every way, shape or form available. Basically make your self a portfolio. I’m only doing botany just to have another degree under my belt.

There’s several guys here either a: ex military or b: in the IT field in some capacity. Luckily for me a keep a set number of businesses at a monthly retainer. Use GFI to monitor all of them and perform any patches if needed easily jump on to any server or computer real quick to do whatever I need an simply work from home. I have a few local places around me I do some hands on stuff still but mainly stay home.

Lucky lucky idk what I’d do with myself at home besides drool over my plants. I’m all hands I work out of the COs, pop sites, and carrier hotels. Never can get a true sleeping pattern bc network impacting work is always during the maintenance window.

We may be legal here in a couple months, all you need is about 50 grand for a permit and a congressman in your pocket...no degree required
50 grand? Dream on. I mean dream the fuck on. You better have access to at least $100K cash plus cash reserves to live on. There's no credit, no loans, no bank accounts even.
