Smoking leaves / drying leaves

My buds aren’t done, and needing some medication. Not yet legal here and all my connects are out.
So I’m growing and had to trim some leaves of the plant.
Trying to find out what are the best ways to dry my leaves so they smoke the best.

I am in the same boat and this is what I do.

I pick all the sun leaves (be careful, after flowering starts there won't be more leaves.) Leave all the smaller leaves and sugar leaves. Put a layer of paper towels on a cookie sheet and spread the leaves as thin as possible. Put them in a dark place for about 3 days and then crumble them to get the dry portion off. Put the rest back to finish drying. If you treat it like you are curing your grow it should loose most of the chlorophyll taste.

Fast drying would leave a ugly taste.

I trimmed the leaves after they started to flower and just before the trichromes started to show up. I have to smoke about 4 or 5 hits to equal 1 on bud.

That's not the best, but when it's the only game in town...

its leaf ill taste like crap how ever you dry it plus will give you a headache
i always keep my scraps from stripping the lower half of the plant and make butter with it so when i run out of bud i can still get high plus butter keeps for a long time

Seems like leaves usually smoke nicer if you let them air-dry over a few days. Cut them up with scissors to make them dry faster. Or you can dry them with a bit of heat, but the more you accelerate the drying, the nastier the taste in my experience. When I was a teenager in a similar circumstance to yours I would put a sheet of paper or thin cardboard over the top of an electric lampshade and set the leaves on top of it to catch the heat from the lightbulb. That would dry out enough to smoke in an hour or two, and it was usually no worse than smoking leaves that had air-dried without heat.

Another thing you might want to try: If you have a drip coffee maker, put some trim in the basket with a filter and run hot water through it like you're making cannabis coffee. Throw out the "coffee" you get and then dry out the trim. Sometimes I run two pots of water through it. After it dries, it should smoke a little less nasty, but you'll still get the THC effects if there are any. It also makes the trim a little better tasting for extracts and edibles, IMHO.

That's exactly what I did. Didn't get to high but had a very, very good afternoon and evening. The best in a long time. I thru in my last little pinch of bud and a teaspoon of leaf. It tasted like good green tea so I put another spoonful of leaf in and made a pot for my wife. She has been pretty happy this evening, too.

In Oklahoma there are at least two versions of the law. The state marijuana board has the law a at 24 pages long and very loose, but the health dept's 75 page law is just a little more restrictive. The health dept's limit on edibles is 72 ounces with no limit from the marijuana board. All this brings up a question: If tea is considered be an edible could you have 72 ounces bud measured out to one teaspoon per tea bag?

When I want to do bottle tokes with honey oil or hash I will roll up leaf joints to use instead of cigarettes. I use a cigarette roller with tubes to roll them for use. Works great.
But most of my trim is used for mj butter or hash and always make a little honey oil to have around.

make extracts out of leaves
That would be a good idea if they trichromes on them. Not enough to mess with.

I just pulled a Gold Leaf about an hour ago. It was the runt of the litter but it looked ready. About 60 to 70% amber pistols, milky trics, and a nice amber glow to the sugar leafs. I picked off three small buds and put them in the dehydrator just for a quick sample. About another hour and...

Bubble hash and oils come in a couple weeks.

i'd rather have 15 grams of hash than ten pounds of sun leaf
Hell, I would, too! But, if what you have isn't good enough for hash what then. Every year I had a source that passed thru and brought my supply. Now that that ended I'm trying to learn how to grow. 2016 - dismal failure, 2017 - I would call near failure, 2018 - a somewhat reasonable crop considering all the mistakes.

I just had my first from a Gold Leaf I pulled this morning. I had to put a couple of buds in the dehydrator just to have a little sample. Best I've had in a couple years. And, that was the runt of the litter. I have one White Widow that looks almost as good some of the pictures on the web. She spent most of her life outside because the SCROG was too crowded and she was the weakest plant - now the best. The other six a few months in the grow room and now outside. They are one Gold Leaf, one White Widow, and three that could be second generation Gold Leaf or GL/WW mix.

Anyhow, I am off the leaves until there is another famine.

Haven't seen dry ice hash. That's not made like bubble hash? Sound like just freeze and shake off the hash, is that right?
pretty much, pick a grade of silk screen material you like, get about a pound of dry ice, crush it up, pour it all into the silk screen material, make a bag out of it, and shake the shit out of it in a 5 gallon bucket. a full gallon jug of sugar leaves and popcorn makes at least 15 grams, and that's a light yield.
you get a bucket full of kief from that. i scrape it all up, press it by hand till it starts to stick together good, then i put it in a big vice i have in a folded up piece of no stick mat. i do that and fold it over, then repeat, about 20-25 times. the trichs kind of "melt" together and you get that nice gooey interior, while the outside oxidizes into a skin.

look about 2/3 down that page, for my second post. that's a dry sift thread, but i was making comparisons,

Well, since your post I've been all over the web at how to make hash. To me the dry ice hash looks like the best way for me (thanks for that).

One problem for me is that I don't know anything about hash. Never used it, never even seen it. Thats a new line of research for me.
not a lot to know. it's like weed but stronger. you can smoke it on a pin under a glass, between two hot knives, in a special flatbottomed bowl...but most people just crumble a little up and sprinkle it in a joint or on a bowl of weed.
