I was looking at branded LED lighting and did some research ended up DIY LED grow light saving $$

What everyone wants to know, 4x Bridgelux BXRC-35E10K0-L-23's 3500 spectrum wired to HLG-320H-C2100A(the a specifically for the built in dimmer to dim and start on smaller veg plants) and mounted using rails where the COBs can freefloat move them along the railing as needed to direct your light as optimally as possible. For the frame i used 4x pieces of cut down to 2ft pieces, x4 2ft pieces for the outer frame, and then 4 pieces for the inner frame for the cobs/heatsinks to lsy on.

LED's have come a far way now, they COB's are comparable in output to HPS, while drawing 1/3rd the power, quantum boards blow cobs out of the water. LED is where it's at now.
No. You have to stop spreading bullshit like this around.

It takes about 60 to 80 percent of the wattage to match HID. You aren't gonna get there at a third of the power. In other words, to match an SE 1000 watt, you're gonna need 600 to 800 watts of COB/strip.

A couple questions for you:
What fan/heatsinks are you running?
How much were they?
How are you powering the fans?

I love DIY. I built a water cooled cob setup a while back but have since turned to strips. If I can find some heatsinks cheap enough, I will convert my water cooled setup to active or passive cooled heatsinks. Also, J Law above is correct, you need more than 1/3 the power of LED to match HPS.

not to badget, but when it comes to veg, 1/3rd the power is completely correct. as for flower my test is only half over, im sure hps will take the cake for flowering, but for vegging your clones you should be under LED's.

The 1/3 came from here:

No one was talking about veg.

This might be correct if discussing the old blurples lights but the newer chips like the Samsung's are a game changer. Dispute it all you want, going to be very difficult to persuade those who are using them that the results they are seeing are not possible.

I have 2 x 1200w BESTVA LED's of a total of 2400w. I believe the actual wattage compared to HID is 800w per LED fixture. Either way, 1600w for 2 plants is great.

You have 2 x 240 watt fixtures. To believe they will each replace 800 watts of HID (as their ad claims) is laughable. Your 480 watts of light may replace a 400 watt HID. These blurple light manufacturers make ridiculous claims just like cheap stereo amp and speaker manufacturers. Your lights will absolutely grow weed -- just not like they claim.

You must be a blast at parties lol. Have you seen ANY reviews of these lights? Or are you just going to say these lights are bull$hit because you maybe don't like LED grow lights?

The BESTVA LED lights are consistently in the top of the LED grow light reviews. Yes they are a chinese brand and they may have a cheap price tag on them, but you can watch some videos of people who grow using these and they are getting better results vs MH/HPS lights. You do know these are double chips and they are 10w instead of 5w which most other LED lights have been using for a while, right? These are on par with Viparspectra LED's.

What BGT is saying is that your BESTVA fixture is at best equal in efficiency to an HID fixture. That means it requires the same amount of power to produce the same amount of light. Saying that 240W from it is the same amount of light as an 800W HID lamp is laughable...just not going to happen with the electronics it uses.

Listen guys, im new here and I am not looking to argue or make enemies. I am trying to produce my meds with the money i have to spend. Considering how much it would cost to grow with LED's vs HPS/MH, the yields wouldn't be so far apart that I would be missing out. If i get 4-6oz per plant(2) using SCROG, I will be impressed and very happy. Even at 3-4oz per plant, I will be very pleased because it cost me less to grow it than it would to just stick to a dispensary. Plus I like to do things myself with certain things.

I promise I am not trying to be a dick here. How big of an area are you trying to light with your 2 lights and how many plants? I started out by buying a Viparspectra "450" watt light that pulled 192 watts from the outlet. I have been there, really. It just disgusts me that these manufacturers make the outrageous claims they do praying on the uninformed.

Lol on par with viparspectra lmao those are junk too man. Sorry but 240 Watts isn’t close period. These companies I swear. “1200” Watts comparable to 800 Watts while only pulling 240 Watts wow. Double chips that’s even better.
