This is why capitalism sucks and is complete exploitation. But state communism or state capitalism (which is a Bernie Sanders "socialist) isn't the answer either.
When a nation like the US uses mainly income tax, with a low sales tax, but when you trade with a European nation, they are opposite, and use a value added tax. Which can be as high as 25%, whereas most US states are at or under ~8%.
Not only does the product get taxed, but in Europe they consider what a shipper pays as "part of" the product too. So you get screwed over that much more.
What's need is for a socialist libertarian mutualist form of government where government steps in as little as possible, not like in most countries, where they're a part of the gang bang.
It's not a privilege, and is a fundamental right for every person to own the results of their labor, and not get rented out as a whore, a slave to the bourgeoisie and the elite plutocratic bureaucrats.
When a country like the US doesn't have a VAT, their only recourse is to add tariffs on imports, as a way to combat an unfair trade system.
