DIY with Quantum Boards

I very much doubt that. You'll find all the same assholes trolling threads all over this site. Example Yodatwat or whatever its handle if. We all get sick of these people and its understandable to get pissed on occasion. If RUI can't be bothered to do something about the trolls, they aren't going to bother you!
Hey whatsup man you forgot to respond to this:
Those numbers can help you decide how close the light can be to your canopy, if you didn’t know. “According to science 1200 uMols is just overkill” – You post yours, I’ll post mine: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23572895#

Where are you getting all these random figures from? And why do you keep saying PPF? Do you even know what that acronym means?

Numbers are important, much morose than you guys seem capable of understanding. Even when you grow, you need to collect the ‘numbers’ – but you guys don’t, lol. You just grow plants, take pictures of them, weigh the bud at the end, and then boom you think you’ve conducted a scientific experiment. Lol.

Do you know what the graph shows? How about you do your best to tell me what you think it shows. We aren’t talking about any of those factors (medium, genetics, nutrients, etc.), we are talking about the lighting system. Your analogies are cute.

You don’t even know what your results are. How would you?

Why do you think efficiency is only related to PPF? You don’t think a fixture’s PPFD score is relevant to the overall ‘efficiency’ of its efficacy? You can put these fixtures in a sphere and note the total photon output relative to its power draw all you want, that metric isn’t the most important by a long shot. I will say it again, designing lighting systems is about distributing photon output. Hence the ‘D’ in PPFD. The efficiency of the available diodes on the market has no where near the variance that the efficiency of distributing photon output has in the market today.

I’d consider switching to a fixture with a 37% lower PPFD score to be a “wasteful practice” – but that’s just me.

They are expensive, for what they are. That’s why their price got beat.

You do realize some of the major reasons they’re so easily copied is outlined in your own post, right?

Did they? No. I would have seen it in the reference material I received from my own patent search. I know damn well how much it all costs, because I was smart enough to pay for it. Your mistaken in thinking it’s the cost that is why HLG has no patents. They have no patents because they have nothing patentable. What do you think they could even patent? And why do you instantly assume lower quality components are used for the new boards released by KingBrite? I bet they’re the damn same lol.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t turned a profit, and never will. Its not about what they deserve, its about how they failed to protect the little they had.

You quite literally have no idea what you purchased. I am not surprised you used to run a business.
Really interested in seeing your academic publishing which states 1200μmol m(-2)s(-1) is overkill. Would be great if we could use less light than I thought to achieve optimal results.

I've tried running at 1200-1400 some strains don't like it sweet spot for me is 800-1000 with no co2 your not going to find many academic studies about weed

There are tons of academic studies being conducted regarding cannabis right now. Its just some people know that, and some people don't. Its typically the people who use google as their primary research source who don't know.

I'm intrigued by you saying quantums future is dead since they just teamed with Samsung. Can you show a picture of your lights you have talked about and also one of the legal grows using them?

Yeah, I read that from one of the people who run HLG, can't remember who it was. Can't find any information about that anywhere, and if this were true, I think I'd be able to. It actually seems like Samsung is producing competition for 'quantum boards' instead. Again, though, how will they be the future if they can't get a patent and no commercial operation will run non-patented systems?

No, I can't. You will see it all when we launch. And you will have to wonder if the new company you're looking at is me or not.

Stephen talked about joining Samsung on GML show. Pretty big company backing them if it's all true. I was under impression Samsung is going to design horticultural specific diodes with a new horticultural division they were starting. If Samsung and HLG can start producing alittle more polished product for the masses and keep up with demand I don't see them failing any time soon. Even if they aren't as good as technology your team develops look at blurples people still buy the shit out of them even with all the info out there saying they suck.

Whoever it was that I cannot remember at the moment, made a bold statement along the lines of, "We are now the official horticulture partner of Samsung" - If they were "officially" partnered with Samsung, that information would be public knowledge and easy to find. There would be news articles released regarding it.

It really doesn't even make sense. What does HLG have that a huge company like Samsung would even be interested in? What can HLG do for them? Aside from being interested in the trademarked 'Quantum Board' term, what could they possibly have to offer?

Blurples are sold by a whole collection of separate companies, and you're right, people still post about them on this site everyday, and buy them everyday! Quantum boards aren't going to stop being sold, its just HLG isn't going to be the ones making money from them, even though they trademarked the name. They're too easy to produce, and every aspect of HLG's 'designs' has been floating around in China since they began manufacturing their products there, which I believe was at the very beginning of them even starting this business.

Quantum boards will be the new Blurples. Once blurples finally sizzle out and all the remaining stock is sold, quantum boards will take its place. Proper systems will be on the market by that time, and we will have a better glimpse into what the future holds for indoor horticulture lighting.
Burples grow weed perfectly fine, just not efficient at it.
Which is pretty much the same reason HLG got so much hype. They're like a super Blurple.

That someone putting you on ignore is the reason they don't answer your question? Yes, I think that's exactly why.
Well then since you don't have me on ignore, maybe you should take a crack at responding to the post. You think you can handle it? Or are we going to try and figure out a way to get out of admitting you can't formulate a proper response to the 'ignored post no one can see'?

I think Stephen said they are the number 2 importer of Samsung diodes in US is why Samsung noticed them and teamed with HLG.

But now that China is going to be mass producing the same product with the same name for half the price, do you think that statistic will hold the same value, assuming its even true? Especially considering HLG has trouble keeping up with the demand, which would imply they have a bit less money than millionaires like Jerry who are now selling the exact same thing at a lower price.

I'm just saying, if it were 'Official', like they claimed, Samsung would have made the partnership public. And like the big commercial operations, I don't think Samsung is interested in partnering with non-patented tech which is manufactured and sold in China at a better price point.

Personally I'd buy knock offs if there equal quality but they would also need to have good customer service. When i did have a issue HLG sent me new replacement board no questions asked which I much appreciated. So far I have 8 hlg quantum boards and the jury's still out in my opinion on them compared to other lights. There good lights just not the end all be all best light ever. I understand they are easy to copy and HLG can't patent them so it's going to be a free for all until somebody steps up and makes a more polished rig similar to the blurples in nice cases with fans and switches and all pretty or better technology like light your talking about designing comes along.
