Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

I am new to cannabis. Still waiting for my card. I know I don't want to smoke it, thinking pills or edibles, maybe ointments. Need for psoriatic pain, crps, and insomnia. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have never used anything before except cbd oils that did nothing. Thanks
Hi, Goobers. I hope your card arrives soon. If you are open to vaping which, in theory and perhaps practice, is not smoking then I recommend oil cartridges. They are a discrete, very easy, no fuss way of medicating. Most dispensaries will offer prefilled cartridges and/or disposable"pens" which is the battery and heating system that heats the oil for vaping. You inhale the vapor and are medicated. Higly potent but easy enough to administer and mitigate the potency. Just take a small hit (and I mean small...not a 5 second draw maybe 1 second, inhale, hold for a second, exhale) and wait at least 10 minutes to see how you feel. Repeat if/when necessary. Edibles are fantastic and my favorite but can be tricky as there are many variables aside from potency that effect how medicated you will get. Moreover, the duration of the psychoactive nature of the experience is waaaaaaaaaay longer and just plain different then other forms of administration. Think 6-8 hours as opposed to 1-2. If you are medicating daily, you will get to know your tolerance more intimately and securely and you manage from there. Just start slow and wait. That will be the key in learning cannabis safely and effectively (if you've never experienced the psychoactive nature of THC)

My timeline...

4/18 - IDPH received application/CC processed
6/25 - Card Issued
7/5 - Card in hand!!

78 days total.

Dispensary 33 is very much on the expensive side.. I will definitely be visiting other dispensaries before deciding on a home

My card finally arrived! here is my timeline.
March 21: Went to Medical Cannabis Community Outreach (MCCO) in Addison. Completed all required paperwork, fingerprinting, doctor visit, etc.
June 21: Check cashed by the IDPH
June 26: Letter received from IDPH that photograph was not included in application. Photograph sent to IDPH the same day via email.
July 5: Card received in mail.
The IDPH informed me when I called that my application was not received until the "middle of April" even though I completed all the paperwork on March 21. For some reason MCCO held off on sending in my application for almost a full month. Using April 9 as the day application was received (don't know the exact date) time to get card is 88 days.

There is an mco and an mcco I've heard nothing but bad things about the company you used, just glad you got your card!

I used MCCO NOT MCO. They are based in Addison. I'm not here to bash anybody so I will just state FACTs.

1. I applied for my card through MCCO on March 21. I was told by the IDPH that they did not receive my application until the "middle of April". This caused a delay in receiving my card.

2. MCCO did take a picture of me when I was there on March 21, presumably to be sent in with my application. IDPH informed me they never received a picture with my application. I had to go to Walgreens and spend an additional ~$16 to have a passport picture taken. I emailed this picture back to the IDPH the same day. I estimate this caused a further delay in receiving my card of about 4 to 5 days.

Like I said just stating facts.

Thank you I was so excited to finally receive it the wait was LOOOOOOOONG!
Yes I'm just relaying info that has been shared with me.. the why of why they didn't send it in for a month is out there but I'm not sure if it's 100% correct so I didn't post it here.. yes the wait is ridiculous huh?!

Hi MrBonkers! I was reading your earlier post. What was the address issue? I'm worried I could run into that problem too....

My application was received on April 21st, money withdrawn on April 23rd and then a LONG DARK SILENCE

Waiting is torture
Hey Herbanite. Sorry just caught this. I haven't been on here since getting my card, been too busy enjoying it. Anyhow the issue I had was that apparently my "physician's certification" never made it to IDPH & that my ID address didn't match up with my current residency since I had moved and didn't get my ID updated at that time. When I had spoke to a representative from Innovative she mentioned that there was a large batch of forms that had been lost at IDPH because I wasn't the first to have contacted them about it. Ultimately she resubmitted it and I got my ID updated. And I received my card about 7 days after that ordeal. Now I'm at the dispensary every other day taking advantage of their weekly sales and freebies Best of luck!

Uh oh! I have the same issue with my ID so I'm going to anticipate a letter and get everything ready to go the second it's received. Hopefully, that's the only issue I will run into. Thank you for the response and congratulations on getting your card!!!! Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy

How many days has it been? I have been seeing people get there cards 80-90 days from when the state receives your application.
