it seems like the world has embraced the "disposable" culture. no one expects quality anymore. they expect shit that wears out in a couple of years. my dad still has a 40 year old washer/dryer set, that he repairs himself from time to time, and it works like new machines.
couldn't do that with anything built in the last 20 years, half of it's stamped together so you can't fix it, even if you know how, just have to buy a "replacement module" for 500 bucks to replace a 12 dollar condenser.
the same philosophy applies to weed stores, buy cheap shit, and mark it up as much as you can, when you get shit that people won't buy, put it on "sale" for only 5 times what you paid for it, instead of ten times what you paid for it....
we aren't legal here yet, and i've never been in a dispensary, but i can tell you right now they would hate me. i would bring my jeweler's loupe, and if it ain't pretty, fuck you, keep it
I can say that they have no issues with you getting the scope out in Amsterdam and Den Haag, mainly because when you do look closely and say "that looks sweet" the chances others will hear that and it's the best advertising the place can have.

Any decent place will offer you the chance to look without asking, or do so on demand, in my experiences they don't have an issue if they know they have good stuff

I found a place across the river in Vancouver Washington that carries it. It's rather spendy at $12.99 for a 750 ml bottle but they're currently out of stock. I might give it a try one of these days.
Do it, it's worth every cent.

Not for slamming down but for savouring the flavours in every sip.

For savouring I prefer a Rye or Bourbon Whisky.

My trouble is im a typical Australian where alcohol is concerned..
I'm a jock, I wasn't breast fed, it was straight onto heavy and Glenfiddich. We make you lot look like amateurs.

But since that little issue that landed me in hospital last year the alcohol had to be chopped back so now I don't just chug beer for the sake of it but take the time to enjoy the good stuff, you end up getting a better taste, pallette and appreciation for the good beer when you don't get a choice about restricting your intake.

I didn't get an option, not with the old fat bastard diabetes, if I didn't change things then an early death was the only end result, and since that means I wouldn't be able to wind up assorted colonials that wasn't an option. :P

I was a sportsman to, State level only, in a few sports. Was a sponsored BMX rider to for awhile. Ive never drunk like a Jock or what we would call here a Bogan. Binge drinking is not my style.
I don't chug beer at all. I drink. A fair amount. Everyday. Savouring is not what aussies tend to do. I drink decent beer (Australia like Belgium make some fine mid priced beer ), cheap wine (fk me there is some fantastic cheap wine happening the last 15 years!!) and decent topshelf.
As I said im an Australian. We are not renowned for our savouring. I also get louder and louder-like aussies tend to do. Not as bad as those Scotts speaking gibberish though. They made perfect sense and after 6 beers they go into tongue's:hump::bigjoint:

Oh, talk about being separated by a common language.

In this case "Jock" is not "sportsman" but "Scottish", the breed of people who feel pain when blood gets in their alcohol stream, we generally don't "savour" because that means it would touch the sides on the way down, and that is not the normal thing seen in Jockistan. And I don't mean the extreme end of "bogan", or "gadgie" in some parts of Scotland (other terms available depending on region), this is the normal, respectable, people.

It's a cultural thing, ingrained in the British mindset thanks to the ridiculous alcohol laws that used to be in place in the UK. Even though that's been changed, it still takes generations for attitudes to change. That's unless you move somewhere like here where the mindset is different, you end up changing to fit into that culture and it's gotten to the point where I'd rather not be in certain pubs if I know there's, especially, a group of English males there as you know they're going to go to hell quickly as they find out even the likes of Belgian Stella Artois is not the same as the cat piss Stella served in pubs in the UK. Yesterday was a prime example, walked into one pub in Antwerp and the first thing I saw, at around 1pm, was 8 English sitting there with a load of empties, inside the pub with their shirts off. Didn't hang around to see how it went, but the usual is that it starts going sideways in 2 hours, especially in this heat, and that's before we think about some of them with the usual use of the Bolivian Marching Powder as well.

Dunno why, it's ALWAYS the English who go too far too quickly unless they also live here and have adapted to the much more relaxed and laid back culture. I've sat drinking and chatting with Aussies, Saffers, Kiwis, Yanks, and had some fantastic times with a LOT of alcohol, but them from, especially, the south east of England, can be a bloody nightmare, a true case of "Instant arsehole, just add alcohol"

Yea, I do agree, Out of all the Commonwealth the Poms are sad drinkers. Yanks I find go real hard for 4 hrs and then fall in a heap. Poms are worse than holiday youths from Norway...

P.S I did edit my post before you quoted me. You may want to re read the last bit.

Re: the last bit. I think it was Robin Williams that summed it up perfectly, if you want a linguistic experience then go drinking with a Scotsman because you'll never understand a word he says when he's sober.

And he's right, have you ever used anything that's voice activated when you have a Scottish accent?

Oh, I guess I'm the exception to the rule there, after living 8 years in London you soon learn to talk slowly and clearly, with hand gestures, so the locals understand you. They don't like it when you point out that's the only way you can communicate with foreigners

My buddy from New Mexico is visiting his daughter in Vancouver WA. Today he bought an ounce of top shelf at a legal retail for $60.

The cheap weed in Oregon and Washington isn't as bad as some would like to believe. In fact much of it is likely better than what many people are growing themselves after spending thousands of dollars on lights, nutrients, etc...

I don't buy from dispensaries because growing is a hobby, I enjoy creating my own strains, I grow excellent quality weed, and I do it at minimal cost by not falling for overpriced nutrients and lights because of slick marketing.

I have been in Alaska since legal came here. I am Uncle Butthole on the Facebook cannabis group here because I don't flip over retail strains. Here's why.

1. It's drier than shit and not cured
2. The prerolls are slowly coming around to flower instead of trim and floor sweepings . But slowly.
3. Too damned expensive

The thing is that most people do not grow their own weed and are perfectly happy with the quality they are getting at the dispensaries. The dispensaries also sell concentrates, vape cartridges, and edibles so they have something for everyone. Those that grow are a very small percentage compared to those that use. The typical consumer is very satisfied with the products they are getting. If you read many of the comments on sites like these from people that grow you would think that everyone is only concerned with bag appeal THC content, etc... That couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact I know many people that don't want high octane weed. They want a lower THC content, higher CBD content and a nice high that doesn't lock them on the couch. They don't care about some super diddly orange zesty pineapple super skunk blackberry ripple strain. They go to the dispensary, price shop, and get the products they want without meeting some stoned pot dealer in the parking lot at the mall.

Marijuana is now a commercial product and like every commercial product there will be expensive high quality, low grade cheap, and middle of the road for the everyday consumer. I don't see anything regardless of quality commanding more than $75 to $100 an ounce in most legal states in just a couple of years.

The THC thing. Try educating the consumers. Terpene profiles versus highest THC. They still go for the highest THC and miss some fantastic smokes.

Yep. I think over time things will change a bit. More people will come to appreciate all the other lovable qualities of weed (other than THC).

Just like with alcohol. There are many people who just want the cheapest booze with the highest % of alcohol that they can get their hands on. Their goal is to get shit-faced. Then there are others who appreciate the "finer" aspects of drinking. People who really get into Scotches, or wines, or craft beers. Surely they enjoy the effects of the alcohol, but it isn't first and foremost - and the strength of the alcohol is not the priority.

Weed will get there. I have no doubt.

I actually bought an 1/8 from a retail to help a guy on a limited grow. That's 500 square feet under cover. The whole operation!

Darkside OG at 17%+ THC. Actually not dry and tasted excellent. I post in the local Facebook with a pic of the bag with analysis.

"If it's so good Uncle Butthole likes it I have to try some. It's been ages since I smoked reggie."

Reggie?

Everyone agreed to try reggie. That weekend pics posted of multiple buts from 16%-18%.

"Hey I forgot how good reggie can be".

Too old. Started smoking in El Paso in 1964. Too may pounds smoked of shit northern Chihuahua gully weed. Too many nights crossing the river scared to death. Reggie?
