Hydro mommies

switching over all my moms except GDP and cherry pie to hydro. Those are going to be kept in soil or coco. Right now I’m between recir dwc buckets, multiple small moms on a 3’3 ebb&flow table, or coco and drip. Kinda wanted to stay away from the drip system even tho I know to start them they gonna need a drip line. What would you guys choose?

Hey Budman410,
I appreciate the nutrient control with hydro...and I like keeping clone Mommas. Been away for awhile, but what I used to use was coco with a wick underfeed system. Worked OK but the damn wicks would get mildew growing on them.

People tend to shy away from hydro for clone Mommas because slower growth is actually an advantage. If you need 50 cuttings every month or some crazy shit like that...then I'd go with a full on hydro system. Maybe a waterfarm.

But another issue to think about is roots. I bonsai my mommas keeping them maybe 15" maximum and occasionally I'd have to cut back some of the roots to keep them small. So take that into consideration.
Hope some of that is useful,
JD

Well then by all means...do hydro. But I would suggest that you also keep a small dirt plant of your favorite strains so that if your clone momma hydro system goes to shit...you don't lose your genetics.

Yep that’s why I decided to do coco and I’ll have 2-3 diff strains kept in soil. Space and my schedule pushed me away from soil for mothers. I’m putting them on a 3x3 table in 1 gallon coco pots with a drip system.

You can do it but mention 24 hrs lights and 20/20/20 npk or similar to growth .
Really npk part important on mother plant.
keep it for long vegg in hydro not more than 3/4 months then plants going to shock .
If your environment 90% under control you survive but absulutly you don’t wanna poor clones.

Hey Neved...how are you?

This comment reminded me of something I used to do. If you have a strain that clones poorly...if you hold back N for a week prior to cutting clones...the lack of growth causes sugars to stack up. At that point clone cuttings will have loads of stored sugars to survive till roots show up. That would be very easy to do with hydro mommas.

Hi John ,I’m doin well .thanks for asking
How are you doin ?!
Really nice to hear back from youra after a while .
On my exp 20/20/20 was working great but really hard to keep mother under control in the same room .I mean if I’m goin to do it again I’ll put my mother tent in separate room.
I’ve done some cloning indoor and grown them outdoor, some of them got tree but all of them start early flowering and...
What’s your recommendation on npk for mother as top it?
