which trainining method for beginner?

Hey. I am using a 2x2x4 tent. I'm worried i dont have enough height in the tent for these strains. How could I train them in 3 gallon buckets while using cheap led lighting? I've read that supercropping is high stress but sounds like the way to go. Should a beginner even attempt it? Is lst a better option for this space? Stains are C99 female seeds and a fire og. I didnt pick them, they were free. Any recommendations?

Most beginners on here seem to prefer the LST method. Personally I wouldn't try suppercropping until I had at least a couple grows under my belt.

thanks. Thats what i am thinking. If i absolutely must buy a higher tent then i guess i will. If it makes it that far. Apparently fire og is difficult to grow. At least i have these feminized C99 seeds. Only problem with that is its a sativa and i will most likely have to buy another tent. So much to learn.

You should always get the most height you can when buying a tent.

If you don't end up buying another tent right away you could top the sativa multiple times while its growing, creating more tops and making it more bushy. And like capn crunch said you could do LST with it and make it as bushy as possible. Just tie down the branches to the sides as it grows and create an even canopy.

I'm doing my first grow right now. When it was a seedling, I was only able to give it sunlight throughout the day. It made the plant stretch out really tall and it stunted a bit before it started growing nodes. I'm at 8/9 weeks and only just learned about topping/FIMing and LTS so I wanted to give it a shot. I started LTS yesterday and my plant has already begun to respond well.

I've got a poor man's setup now, built my own mini "tent" and using CFLs hahaha. Here is a pic I took tonight to give you an idea. (I'm hoping to transfer it to a larger container sooner rather than later, but wanted to give the plant time to adjust to the LTS before stressing it more.)

Cool man. This tent I got came with a carbon filter and exhaust fan with the cheap led light for like 260. But then the soil and pots and nutes, extra light and more light hangers and a few other things lol. When NY legalizes the wife won't be so hesitant to let me do it the way I wanna do it.

I did LST my first grow and when I tell you I regret doing it I swear I regretted LST training . Yes the plants grow bigger but they also grow much slower and I mean very slow. I did real lst training and everytime I saw a top I'll tie it down and the plants grew huge . But I had to veg about 3months from seed then flowered them just to get my plants to a good height because they was so wide . Another downside is most of those tops don't grow shit on them really /just a little bud cola very small .so my second grow I thought about lst or just topping over and over and I just went with topping because my lst grow took over 5months total. So I topped my plants multiple times and of course they grow taller/faster and I had the same amout of tops /15-25 and they was bigger tops than the lst and the colas turned out bigger and I finished in 3and a half months with the same yeild basically . So def for a new grower a simple topping is what I'll recommend and maybe do lst down the line because not only does it take up alot of time but things can also go wrong in a long period of time and a new grower should focus on a successful finish and not yeilds. I see you started lst and cut your original height in half almost but after plant starts gaining height again just top her a few times and put her in flower in 4/5weeks. The hype is real. Those YouTube videos you see those ppl lie about everything

That's what I read on another site. Well, I will probably buy a higher tent before flowering. I'm thinking like a 3x3x6 that I recently saw.

I'm thinking of getting a 3x3x6 tent. That should be decent. I hear you on that lst'ing. I read that somewhere else too. My fire OG seedling started out slow but has started growing really fast. It's a nice green and healthy looking. The temp goes between 78-84 and rh between 49-61 throughout the day. Good, no? I have a small fan blowing around the top of plant and have the carbon filter hooked up, but it's on the floor. Going good so far I think. I have another seedling outside that's been growing really slow. They were planted same day. So I'm feeling good about my set up for now. Gotta get better light and bigger tent though.

For beginners I would use soft restraints and a riding crop

.. just kidding (mostly:mrgreen:), the tent you have will be great for clones and maybe a few small mother plants but I would recommend a 4 by 4 or even 5 by 5 if you can fit it, and I would consider not doing anything fancy on your first run, just let em grow and try to keep them alive
-good luck!

Yeah I'm liking the scrog idea.

Yeah I feel you. Would using the Fox farm trio be considered fancy? That's pretty much all I plan on doing. Maybe a little molasses for buds later lol jk.

En contrairè! ..a balanced 3 part nutrient regimen is optimal in my opinion, forget about the molasses (and everything that comes in a fancy bottle with a trendy name) you have all you need in a three-part nutrient system, just learn to work with it!

Regarding your tent size by the biggest you can fit you'll be sorry if you buy small (perfect example is your current situation)

Define how many plants you want to grow, if it's always going to be one than a 3 by 3 will be fine, but more than one or two you going to need more size

thanks for the info. I would ultimately like to grow 3 plants at a time (not in this one). I smoke an ounce every 3 weeks so I guess that would be considered a heavy smoker. With this current plant i would really want potency more than anything. So I was thinking another 300 watt cheap led just for now. Get the bigger tent before flowering then get a better light before next go.

84degree is ok for veg but before flower def get those temps lower asap .and no need to use carbon filter cause you won't need that until flower although it's not bothering anything .if you don't have nutrients I wouldn't yse fox farm I probably go with Humboldt base A & B and get there golden tree and those are the only nutrients you need but the fox farm nutrients and Humbolt golden tree is good but watever brand you use get golden tree no matter what and during flower use there flower stacker and don't fall for all those additives it's bullshit. And yes LST is overrated

I also grow in a 2X2 with low clearance and I can get two 5 gal pots and two 4 gal pots and top twice (three cuts) for 4 colas plus laterals....my colas don't completely fill out but enough to make it worth while compared to scrog or training

in a 2X2 I could only scrog one plant in one pot
