From Soil to Hydro Need Some Suggestions

Hello,

I've been growing in indoor soil and I'm thinking about switching to hydro. Or at least half of my room.

Setup:

8x11
6 1000w lights dimmed 75%
24k btu AC
air cooled lights

Currently I am flowering 40 plants in 5 gallon pots. I've been having problems with FFOF and the yield is not there. The quality is very high.

What EBB or other hydro setup do you suggest I setup to maximize yield?

Thanks in advance.

Long time organic soil grower here.
Composts. The lot.

I cant recommend coco coir enough, for soil growers.
Coir is a perfect hybrid in my book.
Composts, and has a high cation exchange. Just like organic soil.
Holds an insane amount of air, and water.
Drains well.
Buffers your nutrient and ph.

You just go by your waste readings. In a DTW setup.
Rocketpots, and straight coir. Little perlite if you feel.

I dont buffer my coir either.
Coir buffers itself extremely well, if there is 15 - 30% waste each watering, or feed.

Coir has been compared to dwc for growth rates too.
Plants love it.

Thanks. I’ll do some studying. What size trays under each light and how many plants do you think?
Same amount of plants.
Same pot volume.

It'll feel really normal, and organic to you.
The only thing different is you go by your waste, and feed/water more often.
Its just the 15 - 30% waste, you need to be sure you're getting.
So the cations properly exchange.

Bloom nutes. Start to finish.
About a 1-2-2 NPK ratio.
If i EVER need a boost of Nitrogen, i add some 2.0.0 calmag.
Besides that. I never use calmag either. Probably twice a grow.

Canna does a fantastic coir article.
If you cant find it. Let me know, and i'll upload it.

You'll have a blast i reckon.

Take it easy.

"I've been having problems with FFOF"

.. so you're having issues growing in soil but you want to step up to hydro??

In a lot of ways Hydro is more difficult and demanding than soil, and it seems you haven't really mastered the principles of soil growing yet ? Just something to consider ?
-good luck!

I'll be the contrarian and say that coco sux. Just as messy as soil and loved by gnats and aphids the world over. If you are gonna go hydro, go hydro and go sterile. Otherwise why bother? DWC, RDWC, F&D all pretty simple and clean. My .02c
