Goverment dont give a shit dude, why it is what it is. The only peeps it favours are smokers otherwise your restricted and big business runs in your absence.

I didnt support it because the world aint ready for it, they just take and control, kind of the original problem which forced the underground to appear and run a black market. Ironic they now sell out to just be controlled!
I don't care if they do or don't legalize it, im gonna grow it anyway because im an outlaw!!!

I never said it wasn't bad for children. Just saying that raising the price will only encourage the black market and do nothing to keep it away from kids.

Parents aren't responsible with the booze or prescription drugs so little Johnie won't have any problem scooping some of daddy's stash or getting big brother to score him some or just go see the dealer on the corner for cheaper pot.

We already have a huge trade in illegal booze, tobacco and drugs of all kinds and increasing penalties has done nothing to even put a dent in it.

It's a money grab and a change of the guard. Same thing will happen in Australia and everywhere else when the market opens.

I haven't had to buy pot for 30 years and I won't be buying any of the 'legal' pot either.

The govt will never win the so called war on drugs... There's too much money in it for them... How do you think that all these illegal drugs get in to this country? And what do they do with all the seized drugs and money? They put it right back into the community, not just the Black and Hispanic ones, but the white ones too, no offense... I know because for a long time i was a seller of drugs, did time in the federal penitentiary and sat down with some of the REAL DEAL cats that gave me the truth about what the government is really up to... Now that they see the money that the dispensaries are making and are capable of making, they want a piece of the pie... A big piece...

Preaching to the choir here man.

I've been telling people the same thing for 40 years but they can't see past the propaganda.

I did my share of dealing back in the day but was paranoid enough not to get snagged up. Saw too many buddies going down in shady deals with stars in their eyes. Low and slow is the way to go.

^this. most of us aren't really business people, we're bakers, and carpenters, and nurses, and clerks...probably a lot of clerks....and we're growers, of all different sorts with all sorts of goals.

the people coming into the Canadian market are business people, who hire growers to work for them. they run things like a business, and are used to it. they know how to get licenses, they know who to talk to, how to get distributors, they can afford to absorb losses that smaller operations cannot. they can operate at a loss for a year or even two, because they are diversified, this will just be one branch of their empires.
it happened in Colorado, and Oregon, so many people moved there, expecting to get rich, and now most of them are broke, because they flooded the market so bad, weed is going for a small percentage of what it should be going for. the big operations will weather it out, and next year, there will be 50 suppliers, instead of 5000. a couple of years after that, there will be 15.
but there will always be a black, or at least grey market. the thing about business, is it makes money, it doesn't offer value. or quality.
a lot of people will buy the shit they offer. but a lot of people will want better. cleaner. more variety.....
Not unlike the gold rushes of the old days. The ones who got rich off the rush were those that got in early and cornered the best veins then it was those that sold supplies to the ignorant masses trying to strike it rich off the dregs of those that had the gold.

Nothing new to see here.

Shit i charge 10 a gram and only if they are buying an oz or more. single grams i sell for 20
Rip off rat bastard prices in my neighbourhood. I off my extra for half that whether an 8th or an oz. If a buddy shows up so broke he can only afford a gram he gets an 8th with no obligation to pay for it.

If I can get enough to cover my power costs then I'm good to grow. $150 for a 30g oz and if you want it made into cocobudder another $10 to pay for the organic coconut oil and liquid sunflower lecithin. I get to save the puck for my smoothies. :)

Will legalization even make things better in Canada? Already damn fine IMO. Prices are going to need to stay where they are or drop, otherwise it leaves room for the black market.

I'll still grow my own though, because it is a very enjoyable hobby. This is where legalization makes the difference for me. I can enjoy my hobby without threat of criminal charges.
You got that totally wrong. Re-legalization, aka Prohibition 2.0 is bringing in whole new attacks on our civil rights, longer mandatory sentences for 'crimes' against the new gang dealers on the block, aka Our Government!.

Rec users are going to have to register with the gov't, buy 'legal' seeds or get busted and be on the hit list if laws should change if the current dictators get turfed out for some more of the same corrupt bull shit.

I've been growing since '78, have a med card for 8g/day but be damned if I'm filing with Hellth Canada to grow so I can be a target when the rules change. 17 years in the same house without ever a sniff of cops around tells me I'm good to grow whatever I want.

I grow only for myself and a few select friends and never tried to be a cash cropper so I'm pretty sure my karma will stand me in good stead going forward doing the same.

Good medicine and not profit has always been my goal.

Everybody thinks voting for Trudeau was a good thing for pot but he's dancing to the same corporate tune that his father did and following the same path that Herr Harper laid out for 'legal' pot.

Shake your head and follow the money. We are going to be more persecuted than we've been for the last 30 years and it's been crappy the whole time.

Won't cost us anything to keep it frozen either as one thing we have in spades is the arctic vortex! 30 million hockey players to waft the cold air south too. :D

God-damned right... I broke my own rules and got set up by a friend... But anyway, these people are tripping about something that is not a man made drug... What we should do is be like Jonny Appleseed and plant seeds everywhere... Weed should be free to all...

Oregon to pause accepting marijuana license applications
The commission says it has issued almost 1,900 recreational marijuana licenses since April 2016 as well as almost 29,000 marijuana worker permits.

Glut of marijuana in Oregon is cautionary tale, experts say
Now, marijuana prices here are in freefall, and the craft cannabis farmers who put Oregon on the map decades before broad legalization say they are in peril of losing their now-legal businesses as the market adjusts.
Oregon has nearly 1 million pounds of marijuana flower -- commonly called bud -- in its inventory, a staggering amount for a state with about 4 million people.

Maybe they're the smart ones leaving the sinking ship first...

R or D, the same criminally incompetent clowns keep being elected and the system doesn't change no matter how many icebergs we run headlong into.
