LED hps....

Point in question, weed plants grow in climates that far exceed our tents temps and ir heat given off by the any hps.

The switch to leds negates a grower having to work to get perfect plants under hps.

I dont see how heat can build in our tents when the overall area is exhausted by high power 300-500cfm inlines, physically and thermodynamically impossible past a point.

I guess i dont want to leave this argument alone and it raises many intresting factual questions iv'e yet to see answered which leaves me to ponder myself :-)

Overheating in a tent can happen regardless of light type. If the air that is being pulled into the tent isn't cool enough to offset the heat being produced inside the tent then no amount of extraction is going to help.
In regards to the led vs hps aspect of your post, i am not touching that with a ten foot poll. You're a nice guy and all but I'm well aware of your past involvement in threads on the subject and I don't see anything productive coming out of it.

Are you saying an hps is a very efficient heater of air?

If you are i can quote some basic physics that will refute this claim.

I think you are misled here and would like to know if i should run out and replace all my house heaters with hps because you seem to know of some thermal efficiency i dont and as far as im concerned they put out more light than heat compared to even an inefficient heater.

Point in fact....

You get more IR with HPS than LED, which has advantages & disadvantages.

I personally like mixed spectrum. Instead of running a single 1,000w rig, I'll put two 600s close together. HPS + MH
Legacy gear is dirt cheap. I can get a couple of digital ballasts + bat wing reflectors for $100 all day on craigslist.

I said none of that anywhere in my post. Holy shit man. That is EXACTLY why i don't debate with you anymore.

Sorry let me clear that up...
"Whose house is exceeding ambient temps that it cant draw a higher heat away?

You act like heat is a non transferable comodity, simply that air is moving means heat is transfering.

If i may be so bold as to attempt to quote some leaf cooling science...

Cooling happens up until the ambient air measures 35c and then heat is transfered to the leaf from the air.

Which cheap ass has a house with air above what plants in an Afghan field have hmmm....

Im not saying im right your wrong im merely saying the past few years of led science has been troubling and so deeply buttfucked here that ive formed a few alter questions that cut through a lot, actually all, their claims on either light or heat.

You get more ir with the sun, i wikipediada that from my galaxy j all by myself with no help from grown ups :-)

You grow outside now? I still can't understand how the sun always manages to get into these conversations. "You think HPS is better than Ceramic HPS? WHAT ABOUT THE SUN???".

I think I know what it is. It's the weed everyone's smoking.

It was a heat related comment to do with ir light/heat in that the sun kicks out vastly more ir onto a plants surface than hps or cmh or led.

Now we were talking heat from a hps (or cmh if you like to add) vs led and led growers were saying that a hps makes it too hot, i was merely trying to understand the science behind this heat.

So far a field in Afghan is hotter at canopy level and recieves more ir than a hps (or cmh, i haven't really specced that one yet) but yet we have to switch to leds because......?

Any help with that obvious answer....?

What do you think would happen if you took a chemdawg or gg4 over to a Afghan field and grew it?

I keep hearing you got to run your LED at higher temps, well I don't hit over 77 and plants grow just like my hps rooms. I don't buy into alot of what is said in LED section, most there have barely any grow experience and give advise out like they got 10 years+ under there belt.

I'm wondering what motivates you.

Are you trying to justify your gear choice or are you just trolling?

Is the whole LED thing is a conspiracy -- like moon landings & climate change?

Please share your inner thoughts with us... :eyesmoke:

Why are noobs always eager to give advice?
I've never understood this.
Maybe they are posers trying to fit in???

I think there just excited and showing there new found passion for growing. It's rampant in LED section, lots of newbies there swearing this or that then you see there on there first grow or never used hps which pretty much everybody has that's been in this for longer then a minute.

Led growers say hps is hot, i did exact science and came up with a different answer.

Google it first before responding, i can cite thermal conductances, reflectance and ir heat and make an equation based on thermodynamics if you want me to really prove some talk shit about heat.

You dont think its strange no, never done science in school no, you just believe led dickbroscience thats been wrong here for the past five years....

Some growers here are not even close to my level, just grow dont debate if it goes over your head!

For those that attended science at school it goes somthing like this....

Johnny Troll has a 40cubic feet tent, he places a 400watt hps inside seals and turns on. He next cuts a circular hole and places a 300cfm inline fan and switches that on.

You start to see the maths for the heat, how is that air managing to heat up, fucking exhausted far too quick. Ive mentioned ir heat too and refrenced the sun.

So how the fuck are you exceeding plant growth temps with them maths noobs?

It would seem no one is willing to answer this with any shred of evidence or science, explain all this heat because last time i checked 400watts of light was a shit inefficient heater of air and very low ir.

Yup, there are lots of noobs on all sides of all debates throwing around bad advice on the interwebz. Its pretty much a given at this point.
But there are also a lot of very experienced and knowledgeable people on all sides of all debates that get ignored because people like to pick teams and then defend thier team to the death. They ignore testable science, disregard well documented results, and resort to sarcasm and insults when proven wrong. Here is a life tip.... don't ever become so invested in being part of a team that you allow yourself to become blind to the truth. Beliefs should never be immutable. Always be willing to change your opinions when that opinion is based on falsehoods.

You make a lot of assumptions.

Two things:
1. I grow with HID, just like you.
2. I don't give a shit about heat because it's never been an issue in my grow space.

And don't even get me started on school and science.
Given your literacy level, I'm guessing you did not attend college...
