Alright. Let me be clear.
This is my first grow with known, medicinal quality, feminized seeds!
Got my seeds fast and promptly with great customer service from Neptune Seed Bank.

Set up - - -
4 HPS 150w lamps in a 5x5 area. Will be using these for entire grow.
I usually buy cheap... 3$ bags of soil that has no time released or any other added fertz..
recently just bought cheap organic soil with no added fertz and starter "soil"
(more on that in a minute...)
humidifier when necessary.
hottest it gets in the basement is 80 degrees in the summer.
started in Party cups. will be moving to a 1 gallon fabric pot and finishing in a 5 gal pot
5 Legend OGK and 3 Cindy 99
_________________________________________________

Starting Summery!
3/16 I started the germ (Legend OGK) in warm wet paper towel and Tupperware container with lid resting on the top.
3/17 16 hours later all the seeds had popped a few hours later i put them in soil.
3/19 all burst through the ground
3/20 they were an inch tall and i had just introduced fretz (1/2 teapsoon) grow big in a gallon of water.
3/23 regular watering.
3/25 plants changed quite a bit. are now yellowing and curling in.
3/26 started Cindy 99 in case i couldn't save these plants.
PH was at 7, lowered it to 6, watered with fertz again. thinking maybe it was PH lock....
3/29 in the morning the plants seemed to be happier. leafs all perked up. the ones that were curled were slightly uncurling...... Later this evening... Plants scared me and i made the decision to transplant, thinking it was the dirt itself killing my babies.
i transplanted into miracle grow starting soil. when i did this i found my roots were drowning in water sitting at the bottom of the cup and had been doing great until that point....
Made sure there was much much better drainage and replanted. Also planted Cindy 99 today. I have a strong feeling they are going to out grow the stunted plants like crazy.... especially after what I've read about it..
3/31 Today the plants are looking awesome. Uncurling. the green is coming back. and i can even see some second leaves starting to show!

All in all this has be the most rough start i have ever had.... i didn't take pictures until today because they were just so sad... I couldn't look at them for too long without my heart sinking...
first 3 plants are green and look fine. last 2 were completely yellow. and curled under..

From what I can see, if those pictures are recent, they are being over watered. Not nearly enough perlite and way too much water which just becomes stagnate. I transplanted mine about that stage. You would think that'd be too early, but the root system isn't established yet so it works out well. After they recover, put them in their final pots, man, with some quality soil and perlite added for aeration and drainage. I don't think I'll ever transplant again. Next grow I'm going from germination > final pots. That MG starting soil, my batch was RIDICULOUS. Battery acid shit. What do you plan on transplanting to? I went with FFOF and if you saw my 4.7 PH post and then a week or two later my journal, you can see the difference! Keep this in mind: If they die, you are out a little cash. But you aren't out all that much time. You can always order more beans. Also, once these recover, it shouldn't affect yield. You'll just have to veg a little longer. From personal experience with vegetables, the ones that go through hardships in the beginning and pull through tend to be the winners. I'll be following this brother. It's crazy how the health of your plants can affect your overall mood, isn't it?

It was exactly that!! not enough drainage in my solo cups, roots hit the bottom and were drowning in the water that was still in the cup... had i just been splashing a bit of water on them, this wouldn't have happened, it hasn't happened to me before.
i don't plan on buying that stuff ever again though. was just in panic mode. I went to a nursery around here and bought a bag of pro mix that doesn't have the time released fertz. it feels nice lol.
my mom started her garden seeds in it and they are flourishing.. so i think i will use that.
im curious about Light Warrior for starting, but all of their soil just seems so expensive.
i LOVE their fertz. i'm just not sure how many bags of soil it takes for 8, 5 gallon pots..
anyways. will be transplanting them to 5 gallon airpots! I will be posting pictures later today of how they are doing. and plan on transplanting at the end of this week if not before.
The pictures above are the day after i transplanted. they looked BETTER than the day before..
AND YES IT IS CRAZY. Its one of the reasons i started growing. I've got super high social anxiety and growing/gardening makes life better. i totally forgot it could have an adverse affect when things aren't going so well with "your babies" :spew:

It took me 2 bags of 1.5 cubic feet of ocean forest mixed with 25% perlite to fill 5 7 gallon containers. So it would take you a litter over 3 cu ft. Or 2 bags. You could buy a bag of happy frog which is 2 cubic feet and mix it with a bag of OF and save from having to buy 3 1.5 cubic ft bags only to use a little out of the third bag. My nursery sells it for 14.99 a bag. I feel spoiled. As far as light warrior goes, I hear it's great stuff, but I don't see the point in it. Just grow straight out of OF. A lot of people say it's too hot for seedlings, but I suspect they are either only speculating or had a bad experience because there are countless people who plant directly in it with great results.

YOU SHOULD! haha. 2 bags for me will be 60$! this stuff was their soil that they have been composting, i believe. There are no Fox Farm sellers i could just walk up and buy from around here and it makes me very sad. I think i will have to try it on my next grow. i really do like fox farm products a lot. Ill use this stuff this grow and OF next grow and see what the differences really are for myself.

Have you thought about mixing your own soil? It's called super soil. Supposedly you don't have to fertilize the entire grow, including flowering, and it's all organic. Here's a link for the recipe http://www.growweedeasy.com/organic-super-soil I would like to try it after a few grows of my own. It makes a lot but I can just use that for the veggies. As far as fox farm soil goes, have you tried using their website product locator? Also, search Craigslist for earthworm castings. Makes for a super ammendment for any soil. You can also find great soil on there sometimes too for cheap.

I have seen it around!! i havent read about it though, that just sounds way to good to be true. haha. It will probably be a few grows before i consider mixing my own.
I actually would like to start a compost and possibly use that and the "tea" i collect from it in a couple years. thank you for telling me about the locator. im going to have to make a run to town and find these places.

i tried to upload them and take pictures of them in the same way so its easier to see growth. starting with the best plants.
im happy to see them all growing pretty well. the weakest ones are now a bright green and their new growth looks fine
no one is all curled up anymore. almost to the positions of reaching for the light.
4th picture is of the c99. which are nice and green and looking good, one has a gimp leaf but hes okay.

Good start and seems like you are on the right track.. There are a few guides/tricks with mixing soil and not too difficult, if you have a place to buy the basics and mix its not that expensive from what I saw.

Following this thread, I am about to harvest 3 Rage OGK from Mosca (Legend RVSD x Sour K), not disappointed at all with their genetics... Seeds pop quick and grow strong... Was thinking about trying the legend soon..

I watered sparingly and they responded well to it, maybe more so later on. They seem to like to get thirsty, droop a little then have growth bursts..

Just an FYI, the legend line stinks, carbon scrubber & ona for mine... Not complaining at all lol, just a tip...

and PS: leave them be and let them grow lol

that's awesome! thank you for the follow. i was deciding between rage and helio and..... i went with helio for my next grow. the cindy 99 was just a freebie, i got lucky!
Im glad to see someone else trying these strains too, i couldn't find much of anything about'em except for their Instagram.
like you said though, seeds have popped quick and we're growing strong, they are definitely starting to again though.
i am only giving them a splash of water because this mix holds water like crazy. i need to get them out and into their finial pots so i can do just that.
let'em groooow.
Since i have seen nice new growth, should i go ahead and transplant or wait a few more days?
and also, what method did you use to train your plants?

They look so much better! They're going to be just fine I think. My 2 cents on the transplant...I'd wait until they have a rootball. If you transplant now soil is going to fall all over the place away from the roots and you'll risk breaking them. I butchered some of my roots doing this by not waiting until they had grabbed hold. Because there is green growth now and they are looking better...I don't see an urgent need to transplant them now. It will set you back even more time wise. But that's just my opinion!

Cool cool. Okay. that's how I was feeling. Wait until they got going and filled the cup a bit more and then. I need to calm down and just keep an eye on them.

Yes i was actually debating getting them out of the solo cups today. and a few other things... These stunted plants are not going to grow fast at all i can already tell by the Cindy 99 seeds that have had no problems yet...
so what i was thinking... is eventually move the 3 legend plants that are growing super slow, outside when i feel like its time to switch the others into flower... and bring them back inside when they are tall enough to flower or!!!! just leave'em outside for the remainder of the season...

i will decide that when the time comes though...
anywho... pictures will be posted tonight!

Hmmm. Not sure how that would affect the plants cycle....indoors, outdoors, indoors again. The change of their light schedule might switch them into flower early -or- cause them to go hermie. Certainly something you should look in to further though.

I gave a similar situation to yours. Only 2 out of 5 of my feminized seeds germinated AND they were messed up from the start from that awful soil. So I germinated the 3 regular seeds I got as a freebie to try and make up for it. Hopefully I'll get at least one female from those 3. But anyways, the 3 I planted later caught up to the others pretty quickly. Now that they're in better soil they all seem to have more or less caught up with each other.

It's good to have a dynamic strategy for sure, but what I'm not so sure about is making it more complicated than need be. IMHO, keep an indoor grow indoors and an outdoor grow outdoors. Wouldn't want to introduce outside risks (virus, disease, pests) to you're other girls.

Upload those pics already, man!

My slowest starting is my biggest at finish...

Pics below are about 6 weeks apart, plants in the same spots.. You can see the smallest became the biggest once they went to flower..

So what I am suggesting is just let them be, switch to 12/12 when you are ready and enjoy...

Even the colas are much much bigger on that back one that I first called "the runt"

Alright guys, i clumped the best 2 legend together and separated the 3 slow ones. 3 together are cindy. I am about to re pot today. i hate this starting mix very much. they are trying very hard to grow, and need to come out of it anyways.. @gjs4786 i did a search on the fox farm website and found an awesome little garden shop 20mins away from me that has FFOF and a bunch of other FF products as well, jackpot! fuck you amazon! 15$ cheaper. and i got it same day, and as a bonus the lady was really cool lol.
anywho. as you can see. they are trying to pump out their 3rd set already like they're on a time schedule or something. mean while... cindy over here is as tall/almost taller and just starting on the 2nd set

@gjs4786 yes you're right... if i took them outdoors, i think i would just leave them out for the remainder of the season, it wouldn't make sense to bring them back in. It's weird how similar we started... i think i will follow what you did and just keep'em in doors and see what happens.. just grow'em out. like you said. it's a learning experience, ITS TIME TO LEARN! i will be able to answer the question "if i almost kill my plants in the first week of growing, will they be alright in the end if i save them?!"...

@JackStraw74 alright alright. I'm keeping them inside, i'll do my best to not judge them too much by what they look like now.bongsmilie
