Looking good Buddy, you say you are going to lay two horizontal, what is the plan on that?
Just wondering because Sedan in the vertical grow section does this but he Super Crops the plant near the soil line with heavy pliers. Freaked me when I first saw it but he has great success with it. You might want to take a look.

Your shit is looking very nice. How much longer veg?

Good luck

JD,
These are Sedans pics, I think this is so cool and who in the hell would Super Crop a one inch plus main stalk at the base. The results are amazing.

I am very impressed with Sedans grow and he is interesting in the fact of his opinions of life in the Ukraine.

Is that a home made cloner, I need something like that.

so from what i can tell he mashes up the stem to make it soft and pliable and then lays it over and it forms the knuckle scar. id rather just lay the whole plant sideways as im too scared to attempt that lol

thats an ezcloner but one could easily be made from diy. the key to success with them is dosing with small amounts of bleach every couple days to keep bacteria at bay until they root.

setting this up to show my blumat setup as ive been getting a lot of interest in it lately. these are great, but there are a few simple rules to follow. as long as you stick to them they are AMAZING.

this room is still being set up. this design is temporary to get me through veg and then the manifold will be expanded upon to fill the room for all the flowering sites. I have run into lockout issues because the pots had dried out a few times in between waterings causing issues. I hope to never have to hand water again, except for my weekly flush with kelp and beneficials.

the veg side will get finished tomorrow and I may add in some of the flower lines if I have enough line(I don't think I do)

carrots get installed into the system in the morning. they have been soaking overnight and they are ready to rock. there will be some fuckery and shenanigans in this room as well. testing some new vertical/horizontal crazy stuff under one or two of the lights.

should be done with at least the veg side by tomorrow afternoon. feel free to ask any questions or post up any blumat pictures. all are welcome.

my vpd is just a little off in the room right now but its still decent. I think I'm at 81 degrees and 61rh. when I add the next light and more plants I'm not sure where it will land but who knows. I have to order a monster humidifier tomorrow.

the white pvc pipe coming out the top is for the return line overflow back to the res. this will have an extension down to the main res with a pump that will come on a few times a day to make sure the blue one stays at full pressure. the overflow will waterfall back down and keep things mixed.

Looking great, nice space, I wish I had that much room!
I am starting some seeds which will eventually be set up on blumats, in Basement Mix for now but I can already tell I prefer Tupur, which I have run before.

Yes that is fairly traumatic, but this last grow I crushed mid height, 2/3 up the main stem when the plant started reaching the top of the screen. Big knuckle!

Back Side

Here she was at harvest.

I will do this type of crush again. Produced some nice buds, not as heavy as some of the others and had a lot of larf on the lower plant but I think I did not clean it like I should have early growth.

DesertHydro, I agree and I've trained plants to grow sideways and I just don't see the advantage to breaking and stressing the plant at all, plus you delay/slow the growth while she repairs herself.

I'll have to look and see if I can find some pics of the last one's it did, the strain was Immense Bulk and the biggest one was about 6' long and ended up with close to a pound just off that big one (but also had to toss about 4 oz. due to bud rot, that IB was just way too dense while also having humidity control problems).

Well don't have any good pics, I mostly took videos of that grow and only afterwards did I realize I don't have any video editing skills, lol, something I'm planning on learning in my old age ;?D So here's three screen clips, may overlap a bit and the lights not great so doesn't do it justice, imo.

Hard to tell, but when I started to train her, I first transplanted from a 5-gal to a 10-gal but then realized that the 10-gal was much shorter than the 5-gal, so I literally laid her on her side at an angle and was still left with a good bit sticking above the edge, sorta air-pruned some of the roots, lol, but didn't seem to do her much harm.

Just a few pics of how they turned out on chop day, one of the biggest indoor plants I've grown and the point is that training plants to grow horizontal, with a bit of added veg time, can really pay off.

Sorry about hijacking the thread, I did come here looking for more info on Blumats, the time savings alone would make it worthwhile. But, while they look promising, for now it'll have to wait as I don't have time to try and dial in a new system with the potential for problems. After I move and have more room/time and I will definitely give them a try.

its all good. blumats are good for limited plant numbers. hard to manage when you have like 20+ plants but they will always have a place in my garden. moms and veg would run themselves on autopilot so i think thats what i will do with them from here on out.

plants are stacking up really well already.

So DH, are you planning on going to a different setup for your watering system. If so what are the plans?
I think my problem with them was I tried to get them too tight and and that's what cause the system to fail on me. I should have done a 30 second to one minute constant drip. But now that i constructed a simple drip system there is no looking back.

I have some Blumats for sale, and a shitload of parts, they have been kept in water since last use.

yeah, just gonna leave this drip system up for the time being. dont have to worry about clogs while im on the road. set to water for 8 min every 2 hours of lights on. they are regulated flag drippers at 4 GPH. blumats will run my moms and veg, and gonna try them out in a 9 plant/light rockwool setup. saw some cool stuff with them in rockwool cubes. will also be building a super soil organic that will be water only for the whole grow and that will be blumats with water only

I have done super soil with blumats, thumbs up! I saw the rockwool grow on Sustainable Village's website, really interested in that, too.
