burn at so low PPM

I added water today and got ppm down to 460 I couldn't get lower without a complete dump.

But I'll do a complete dump tomororw if it's goes up again.
I posted here as I'm just baffled at how the plants stop eating at such a low ppm for me.

I am using the x500 scale? Maybe that is why? On the x700 scale I'm currently at 670 ppm and 5.9ph And 460 on the x500 scale
i'm at high altitude and my plants burn easily. i don't go above 1.0EC usually for the whole grow.

Thank you for saying that for my sanity it explains a lot. I'm currently at 0.96 ec

I'm very low altitude only 50m above sea level but I have low humidity would that cause it?

i'm low humidity too so a double whammy.

when i was using FP, i started at 1mL/gal and i think my max dose was 2.5mL/gal (i think)

i usually try to use RO water. makes life easier for me. i only use 10 gals a week though.
Yeah I'll try again with my Ppm's insanely low and see how it goes.

I can't use a RO unit as I don't have a tap in my grow room I fill a bath and then pump water to the resevoir. It would take me 24 hours to refill the water in my tank even with the largest unit

I dunno I'm at sea level and have very high humidity and warmer temps. I feed at starting at about 750 at flip to 11-1200 full tilt. So maybe that's the correlation. I notice when I run my dehumidifier to 40% rh or so they definitely drink more water.

Edit: not sure of the scale used to calculate ppm as I'm using a 20$ tds stick

My humidity at the moment is 22% but I'm hoping after I buy an AC unit and switch off my huge exhaust fan and go sealed my humidity will rise and I won't have this problem.
Any humidity that the plants create at the moment is instantly sucked out the exhaust.

Hopefully humidity is the answer and feeding at such a low Ppm will solve the issue

Also, just as a recommendation, try to steer away from PPM measurements because of the different in scaling, and try to always use EC, it's just a more reliable way to measure.. And since you've been using the 500PPM = 1 EC scale, then... Maybe? For instance, I've had landrace strains that never liked going over 0.8 EC as they would show similar symptoms with the leaves curling down.

But the yellow on your leaves look like either a deficiency or lockout... Which only serves to confuse me.

Only reason I use ppm is it changes more often. I can see the ppm rise by increments of 10 but it would take a larger drop or rise before I see an EC rise of .1.

I do check my EC regularly aswell I just don't get it.

I have emptied and refilled my res with 1ml/gal foliage pro and 0.5ml a gal protekt today and got 380ppm so will see how it goes hopefully I start seeing the ppm drop as if they are eating.

I don't use anything else at all. Just foliage pro and protekt.

I'm thinking maybe it is my low humidity and maybe sensitive plants time will tell

I know you said it would be hard/impossible, but you need to use RO water. i just read that your starting water is 160ish. that's pretty hard. my well is 0.28ec (140ppm) and i mix it 3 to 1 with RO to get an EC of 0.1ish.

if not RO, you should look into finding GH flora trio that has the hard water version of micro. either that or Ionic hard water formula. if either one is still even available.

Dam, how large is your res? I have 150 gallon res in my room and use a stealth 150 and works fine.

My res is 300 gallons even if I bought the stealth 300 waiting 24 hours for enough water to fill my tank would probably kill my plants as they won't get any water sprayed on their roots until the res is filled above the pump

with out question your environment is your biggest issue you need to fix first , but you have others as well. get a humidifier and set it to 70%. how many plants you running and what are they in?

Even though it's a lot of water, I'd do a flush and let them try and recover for a few days. The plants will use their stored energy, and hopefully correct themselves. You might have nute lockout, so fresh water should help. Then, start adding nutes a little at a time, over several days, until you're at your target TDS. See how your plants are doing each day, and stop when your plants are happy, rather than going just off the TDS. Different strains have their own tolerances to nutes.
