Is this Root rot?

Take some of the plants and stick them in coco for rest of the grow. And keep one as is. Use that one as an education in hydro. I reckon it's best to do that to be honest.

So you think is root rot for 100%?...

And one more thing can I still use same nutrients (CYCO nutrients full series)?

@AngryMexican things is looking fine. just remember if using h202 that it will kill all living bacteria good and bad. Ie Voodoo Juice etc.
Where have you got your water level set now the roots are out of the netpots? normally the level is set a few inches below at this stage.
I have very large containers (80 L) so my water level is pretty low, about 50 cm from the net pot bottom...

Just add some hydroguard if you dont mind a live system.

I just switched my nutrients from semi organic (RAW) to complete salt based.

I was worried about going from organic to synthetic so i added bleach @ 4-8 drops per gal.
In 2 differnt set ups i have a few running.

Only ones that got slimey was the one that had bleach.

After the roots turned to mush i added hydrogaurd and stopped adding bleach

Now a week later all is well even at temps over 72

I suppose hydroguard is almost the same thing as Voodoo Juice. I have a lot of Voodoo Juice and PowerZyme by Hesi... And I add both evry res change

My res temp is at 68 F all the time.

Guys please help, does it look like root rot? Could grow so dramatically over night or is that just the color from nutrients?

I don't think that is root rot, I think it just from your nutrients. do the plants look healthy up top, my roots almost always have a little of that brown from the nuts.

I am cheap I use pond-zyme with barley and haven't had root rot in years, had when I was using the expensive great white but....not since.

I will post some pictures of plants tomorrow, but for my point of view they look perfectly fine, the grow is just a bit slow but its maybe becouse I moved them 10 days ago to another place...

root rot is defined by the top most plant dying off very quick

not often by checking the roots ..lol

good luck
Thanks, thats kind of a relief.

I thought that first signs of root rot should be seen on roots from what I heard... But I am a total newb...

Its easy

If they smell
Are coverd in slime
Are mushy and pull away with the slightest tug.
Then its somthing bad along with the top side of the plant showing stress

If they are brown from the additives but are still robust and "crisp" then its just nutrient stain
(Which i always had with advanced GMB)

Im not sure but check to see if your voodoo juice contains BACILLUS AMYLOLIQUEFACIES

If so, then yes it has the same stuff thats in hydroguard.

Hope it helps

Yup root rot, not all rot smells. And I would suggest, as done already, get hydroguard as well as getting your water temps lower. As for the light leaks, cover your pots so no light through the hydroton.

NO it's NOT root rot!

First off. Are you doing DWC?

The feed level in the res needs to be a bit below the bottom of the net pot.

Your just getting staining from the nutrient color.....

Yes, I am doing top fed DWC. But my containers are huge (almost 18 gal), I have 2 plants per container. So I just cant afford to put so much nutrient solution and change it once a week :)

I have about 4 gal of nut solution per container

So do this then. Old school add back trick that gets you to the dump and refill the right way.

33% add-back rule.

Fill you're res to the proper amount needed. Record that amount.

Now, as you "add back" to refill the res. Add back a 33% nutrient strength solution.

Make a gallon of regular 100% nutrient solution.
Add 2 gallons of straight water and pH that new solution to your pH point. This is your 33% solution...
Add back as much 33% as you need to that "full" point, and KEEP TRACK OF HOW MUCH YOU ADD BACK!
Once the amount your adding back, reaches the amount of the whole amount used to fill the res.

Dump and refill with fresh 100% solution, and start the whole thing over again.

You'll save money, and have happy plants!

I disagree, respectfully lol notice no caps or bold letters .... jeesh. Would not the clumping indicate root issues? Anyways good luck op ;). Hope it goes away.

First of all thanks a lot, but sorry I am kind of slow and my english sucks :)
So if I got it right...
... FIRSTLY I do put about 16 gal of 100% nutrient solution (almost to the bottom of net pots)
and afterwards I just add 33% solution little by little till I reach that 16 gal total amount. => Dump and all over again
But is it ok if this process takes more than two weeks? Because I am not sure if 2 plants can drink more than 16 gal in 2 weeks...
